The Grand Bavaro Princess hotel offers spacious and comfortable rooms, though some travelers have encountered issues related to readiness and maintenance. While the hotel's cleanliness generally receives accolades, especially for its beaches and grounds, there have been occasional housekeeping lapses. Guests find the amenities satisfactory, despite some criticisms regarding value, service, and additional costs. The lively atmosphere might be overwhelming for those seeking quiet, but the location is highly praised for its beach proximity and easy access to city attractions. Service quality seems to vary, with experiences of both attentive and lackluster staff.

While we appreciated certain aspects of our stay, there are some areas that require significant improvement, particularly in the service at the à la carte restaurants and maid service.

Wasabi restaurant: unfortunately, the server forgot to bring my order. While the rest of the family received their meals, mine was completely overlooked. Additionally, the server struggled with understanding English, which made communication challenging.

Italian restaurant: the food was excellent, but communication was an issue. The servers had difficulty understanding English and we had to explain our requests to three different staff members.

Mexican restaurant: our first visit was enjoyable, which encouraged us to return, but the second experience was a major disappointment. First, only one soup was brought out when we had ordered two. Then, we ordered two ribeye steaks ($35 each) from the paid menu, clearly pointing them out and requesting medium rare for both. Instead, we were served two T-bone steaks ($55 each), both well-done. After this mistake, we decided not to remind the server about the missing soup and left for the main buffet for dessert. Improving English communication skills among staff would greatly enhance the guest experience.

Maid service: the housekeeping also left much to be desired. Towels were often not replaced, even when we placed the used ones on the floor to signal they needed to be changed. Despite leaving tips in rooms 3203 and 3204, clean towels were not provided and overall cleaning was minimal - beds were made, but little else. This service needs considerable improvement.

We hope these suggestions are taken into account to enhance future guest experiences.

Dear Igrina2606. Thank you for choosing us for your recent holiday stay and for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We are delighted to know you appreciated certain aspects of our hotel facilities, and we are grateful for your thoughtful remarks. We sincerely apologize for the inconveniences you experienced during your stay. At Wasabi Restaurant, we regret the oversight in your order and the challenges in communication, which understandably affected your dining experience. Similarly, at the Italian and Mexican Restaurants, we acknowledge the difficulties with language barriers and the mistakes in meal preparation. Your comments on improving English communication skills among our staff are invaluable, and we will address this area to ensure a smoother experience for future guests. Regarding maid service, we are very sorry that it did not meet your expectations. The lack of timely towel replacements and minimal room cleaning is not reflective of our standards. We appreciate your feedback and will work closely with our housekeeping team to implement the necessary improvements. Your suggestions are incredibly important to us as they help guide our efforts to provide exceptional service. It would be our privilege to welcome you back in the future and offer a seamless and enjoyable experience that exceeds your expectations. Warm regards, J. De La Vieja General Manager Grand Bávaro Princess

Spent a week here with my 7 year old and absolutely loved it.

The suites arent huge, but you get plenty of space for 2 people. The beds were really comfy and there was great air con. The bathroom was huge, included a bath and separate shower, hairdryer, two sinks and toiletries.

There are no lifts but the bellboys will carry your luggage up and down the stairs, and the highest rooms are only 2 floors up.

Most of the rooms are in small villas which are nicely spread out so you feel like you have masses of space. We were in block 19 which is one of the furthest villas from the beach/pool, and it took about 5 minutes to walk. I would say it's a max 10/15 minutes walk from one end of the hotel to the other, and you can get a cart if you don't want to walk. Only issue with our location was that you couldn't pop quickly to a bar to grab a drink for your room.

There are 2 pools for use by everyone - a massive one by the seafront, and a quiet one near the lobby. We never had any issues getting loungers and shade no matter what time we went to the pool.

The bar at the pool is great, friendly staff and you never had to wait long even when it was busy.

The lobby bar was lovely, great range of cocktails (and the staff will make things that aren't on the menu) and it often had live music.

The food for me was the biggest highlight. There are 2 buffets for breakfast and lunch - one near the lobby and one by the beach. The lobby one is bigger and has a greater range of food, but there was still plenty of choice by the beach and neither were ever too busy.

Dinner is where this hotel excels. We ate dinner at the buffet once, and there was loads of choice plus a guy with a cart making bespoke dessert plates at your table which my son loved. There are then 8 a la cartes available to everyone. We ate in 6 of them (Mexican, Pizzeria, Indian, Teppanyaki, Steakhouse, Italian) and loved the food in all of them. You reserve a table in advance on an app, tables for 2 days ahead seemed to become available about 6pm (although the steakhouse and Italian always showed as full and then became available a couple of hours later). I had no issues getting the time we wanted.

Staff were really friendly and helpful.

Overall this is a beautiful hotel and was a fantastic stay. I don't normally go back to the same hotel twice, but am considering returning next year!

We are just leaving the Princess Bavaro hotel in which we stayed 1 week.

The hotel is nice and well maintained. The garden and the beach are very nice.
We booked a room in the platinum section which allowed us access to a private pool and private beach with nice long chairs and it feels more exclusive than the rest of the hotel.
The room was cleaned on a daily basis but unfortunately, they forgot several time to put towels and new shampoo.

The hotel has many restaurants. We usually ate breakfast at the buffet for Platinum guest and we always found something to eat. At night, we tried most of the speciality restaurant. The food was alright but not very tasty in our opinion. Everything was blend for some reason.
Cocktails were sometimes good, sometimes bad… and the wine (red or white) is awful and taste more like vinegar than wine. We ended up buying wine ‘a la carte’ but of course, it was additional cost.

Our main concern is the service of the hotel. The staff is unprofessional and it mostly feels like they are only waiting for tips every time they bring something to the table. Being none Spanish speakers, we had a lot of issue to communicate with the staff. We had to wait 30 minutes upon arrival to get transfered to the platinum lobby. We were constantly stoped whenever we were walking around or staying on the beach, people selling stuff and it is a bit annoying. Even though they have guards in front, they let everyone from outside the hotel to sell stuff like cigars, excursions etc…

First a PSA: In the Carribean, always wash your hands before eating or drinking. It's also not a bad idea to sanitize them at the restaurant after touching the utensils at the buffet.

Now the review.

When evaluating a vacation, three major aspects stand out: service, accommodations, and food.

Service:
The service at this resort is phenomenal. From the housekeeping staff to the servers and maintenance personnel, everyone is wonderful. They are polite, helpful, and always willing to go the extra mile.

Accommodations:
Our room at this resort was significantly larger than the one we had at the Royalton Punta Cana, which is newer and more expensive. The bathroom was probably twice the size. The room was clean and well-stocked, and the bathroom was consistently maintained by the excellent housekeeping staff throughout our stay. However, be warned: there is no air conditioning at this resort. If temperatures exceed 26°C (78.8°F), you won’t be able to sleep comfortably. They provide an air cooler, but it only works when it’s cool outside. Consider bringing a fan or be prepared for uncomfortable nights.

Food:
Having visited multiple resorts, I can compare food across different countries and establishments. Unfortunately, this resort has the worst food I have ever experienced. After visiting more than seven resorts, this was the first time our family fell seriously ill. The standards for handling food are practically non-existent. Some examples include:

The same tongs are used to cook on the grill, serve customers, and handle raw meat from the freezer.

Staff sweat into the food they are refilling at the buffet.

Staff mop the floor and then touch food without washing their hands.

Despite our cautious practices, such as washing and sanitizing our hands before eating, we could not protect ourself due to poor food handling everywhere at this resort. Additionally, the food tasted terrible at the buffet and almost all restaurants. The chicken was inedible, with a texture like cardboard and an even worse taste. The hamburgers were undercooked, red on the inside, and had to be discarded.

My recommendation is to avoid this resort at all costs unless you bring your own food.

Dear 406gagang. Thank you for your feedback. First of all, we hope that by now you have completely recovered from the virus that affected you during your vacation. We appreciate that you choose our hotel as your tourist destination as well as for the compliments regarding our hotel facilities but deeply regret that your stay was not as good as you were expecting because our main goal will be always try to please all our guests as much as we can. We would like to explain that the handling and hygiene of our Food and Beverages is one of our main priorities and this is the reason why we are affiliated and follow the international Food Safety Program (the Crystal standards), which evaluates and audits all the levels of quality in food and beverages as well as everything related with the quality and hygiene periodically. In this sense, we would like to inform you that, certainly, many people may experience gastrointestinal disorders when they visit some Tropical countries as the Dominican Republic, which could be directly related to several factors among which we can emphasize: allergy to some native product, upheavals caused by a diet change (different food consumption from those of the habitual diet or a disturbed consumption of certain products), or the certain food or drinks mixture. Also another way, and this could be the most common on our opinion, is to be infected by a traveler virus which is very contagious. Unfortunately without any evidence which could have showed us that it was because of us and if our hotel refuse to assume any responsibility is for the simple fact that we have not received any medical report of any of our guests, but we can assure that the safety of our guests is top priority and we try to follow the strictest programs of hygiene and quality. For your information, there is an active virus in the area (some type of influenza) and all the people who have contracted it have had symptoms of vomiting, diarrhea, fever and malaise, it means that it cannot necessarily be related to an issue with the food, because if this were the case, not only you would have the symptoms described but the majority of our visitors, which it is worth highlighting are more than 2,000 people and any report related to a gastro illness. Once again we regret this unfortunate incident that you had during your stay because above all we are human beings and we sincerely hope that you are feeling much better at this time. Honestly, J. De La Vieja. General Manager. Grand Bavaro Princess.

We recently stayed at the Grand Bavaro Princess in Punta Cana to celebrate two important milestones: our 10-year wedding anniversary and a 1-year anniversary for my brother-in-law and his wife. Unfortunately, this resort turned what should have been a joyous occasion into an absolute nightmare.

Firstly, the rooms were appalling. The shower had no water pressure and offered only cold water. To make matters worse, the bathroom ceiling leaked, leading to a dangerous slip in the middle of the night. Towels, both in the room and for the beach, were dirty, and when we requested replacements, room service took an eternity to respond. Adding insult to injury, we were refused new beach towels because we hadn’t left the old ones on the beach – a ridiculous policy.

Food and drink were equally disappointing. The food lacked any semblance of flavor, and we were served a chicken burger that was pink in the middle – a serious health hazard. Breakfast orders were often incorrect, and the restaurant didn’t stock bottled water. When we asked staff to retrieve some from the nearby bar (about 30 meters away), they refused, leaving us to get it ourselves. To make matters worse, the bottled water available (a brand called Crystal) tasted like cheap sewage water.

The staff and service were shockingly poor. The concierge staff were rude and confrontational, and most employees seemed unwilling to assist or even smile. Freddy, the supervisor, was completely unhelpful in addressing our concerns, passing us off to Jenniffer, the duty manager. She offered nothing but empty apologies and refused any form of compensation, such as a complimentary spa treatment or a late check-out, despite the string of issues we faced. Their suggestion? To contact guest services after returning to London – a clear brush-off.

Other problems included power cuts, temperamental internet, and a lack of basic courtesy from staff around the grounds. Not one person said hello or made us feel welcome during our stay.

This was, without exaggeration, the worst travel experience we have ever had. If you value your time, money, and sanity, avoid the Grand Bavaro Princess. We will certainly never be returning.

I will definitely recommend this resort to anyone, the beaches were clean and we felt safe there was a security detail around all around the resort, the food and drinks were really good and all inclusive. The staff was soooo incredibly friendly and made us feel at home all the time. There is little shuttles that take you wherever you want to go, the giftshops were reasonably priced. There was always fresh water in the rooms so that you didn't need to drink the water. The pools were clean and the gardens well looked after. Will definitely return and recommend family and friends.

I was celebrating my honeymoon from September 27 to 30, 2024. From the start I was afraid for the negative comments just recently but when we arrived at the reception we were attended by Eugenio super friendly and explained everything about the hotel we arrived at the room and did not receive with some nice details that the woman and ami loved to thank Rebecca especially for keeping our room clean we made several reservations in the restaurants and the service was 5 stars thanks to Pedro L in the restaurant El Pescador very friendly all the buffet and restaurant staff exceeded my expectations the food was delicious. They should only expand the buffet areas for the size of the hotel I found it very small and without air-conditioned rooms.

Our stay at the Resort was magnificent, note a thousand for the hotel staff. Very friendly and cheerful staff who made all the difference in our accommodation. We chose the platinum suite due to the additional access to the Resort restaurants and it was worth every penny. We stayed 7 days and couldn't go to all the restaurants. In the Platinum Vacation Package you can book the restaurants: SOHO International cuisine (highlight the strange 3 cheeses); the PBG (stays on the beach, has good food and a very attentive staff); and the CHOPIN (which does not need Reservation and serves all meals - breakfast, lunch and dinner - all with a lot of quality and taste). In addition to these, there are other restaurants (Japanese, Indian, Mexican, Italian, 24-hour pub, parrilha and the café del mar that serves without Reservation at all meals).
We stayed in the bungalow 6811, extremely clean and spacious room, comfortable bed, bathroom with two sink and bathtub, living room with mini bar (which was supplied daily with water, refrigerators and capsule coffee) and a very cozy bag. In the platinum part of the beach, the employee Claudio (bar) always welcomed us with joy and prepared wonderful drinks (cocoloko was my favorite). After all, the hotel is fantastic!!
There is a large area that allows us to get in touch with nature and animals (pavilion, swing, ducks, turtles, birds). Besides, the Resort is very charming.
I saw videos on YouTube saying that employees were asking for a tray at all times, but in those 7 days that never happened to us. Many guests give cane, I believe in the form of gratitude for the good service provided.
Definitely, we want to come back!!!

As a suggestion, for improvement, they could place the ping pong table in a covered area (where it is currently hit a lot of sun and rain and the table ended up bothering) and also, in restaurants with Reservation, there are more than one person responsible for taking the order.

very disappointed with the 5 star service, THE POSITIVE - very beautiful green areas, beautiful restaurants, the hotel is beautiful, the food is delicious, I loved the idea that you have animals inside the hotel. THE NEGATIVE - they urgently need air conditioning in the buffet rooms, the service is not so good, employees not so friendly, one thing that we found very bad about the drivers of the carts that take you to the room is that they take the phone (write and talk) while driving, we found it very dangerous on the part of the workers, the room is not so clean, we got dirty sheets and yellow and torn towels, the drinks and beverages were terrible, the alcohol is terrible. The people who work in the offices that sell travel packages are very rude, they do not accept no for an answer, they had us talking for 2 hours and 30 minutes even though we told them that we would not take their travel package from the beginning. Finally, I feel that it is a very beautiful hotel, but the administration has to read all these comments since there are employees who intercept you and insistently ask you to make positive reviews all the time.

Staying at the Grand Bavaro Princess was a coincidence, but without a doubt it was a 10 experience from start to finish.
It is important to note that I stayed in the Platinum category, so my experience is limited to this section, I did not visit the rest of the complex.
Upon arrival you are greeted at the Platinum Reception, very friendly, we were only a couple of guests and everything flowed quite quickly. I arrived at 4.30PM and the room was already ready, they explained to me about the map, reservations, the App and how to organize the reservations.
The room is renovated, with a shower, jacuzzi/bathtub, mini bar with soft drinks and beers, small bottles of rum, vodka and whiskey. Also a fruit basket. The room is certainly simple but quite comfortable, and it was a 2-minute walk from the pool and beach.
The Platinum pool is simply spectacular, not crowded, good drinks, quiet music, good service and very friendly bartenders.
The quality of the drink is 9/10, you can't find Hendricks, but you can find other good and quality brands, there was never a problem with shortages.
Restaurants: I visited SOHO, P.B.G., Wasabi, Samsara, El Pescador and Rebels, of all the only one that did not meet my expectations was El Pescador. He
Food Truck has very good burgers too. I have no opinion of the buffet, since I preferred to go to P.B.G. every day. It is important to note that you make reservations through the App, or you must call or go anywhere.
The turquoise blue beach, clean, without waves and with permanent first-class service, on the side there is an undeveloped area if you want more privacy, but the Platinum area has everything to stay all day.
The employees are friendly, willing and always with a smile.
In summary, the cost/quality ratio is excellent, and definitely to pay twice as much for a larger hotel, with poor service and questionable quality of food, I would choose the Gran Bavaro Princess Platinum.
