At TRS Turquesa Hotel, guests have called out the disturbance from noise levels in rooms and public areas, which sometimes interrupts the otherwise lively atmosphere praised for its shows and celebrations. The staff's friendly and attentive service often receives commendations, though the value proposition is questioned due to room quality concerns and unexpected costs. While the prime location near the airport and beaches is a highlight for many, some travelers find room maintenance and cleanliness to be areas needing attention. Despite this, the hotel's amenities, especially the dining options and beach, generally earn rave reviews.

Just got back from our stay at TRS last week, and can say we had a great time. We’ve been coming down to Dominican for over 25 years, staying at various resorts, including Grand Palladium Palace, so we have quite a few comparables to choose from when reviewing this hotel. Have to say that we had a great stay at TRS. Everything we felt was just really good, couldn’t find a fault, or at least not one that had us put off or had us grumbling about. The rooms were always clean and bright(but we were never in it), the food at the a la cartes were fantastic at every restaurant we went to, the drinks were great with a variety of premium and local liquors, and the resort had some of the friendliest tourists of any resort we’ve been to. Great people who, for the most part were there to enjoy their vacation, didn’t talk politics or anything that didn’t concern the weather or supper plans, or how great a time they were having.

The staff here made for a great stay. Delores at the main pool is one of the most genuine, hard working resort staff I’ve ever met. Her smile is infectious and she genuinely seems to love her job and is more than worthy of any tip(s) she gets. The pool entertainment staff were fun and engaging, and one staff member in particular, believe he said “just call me Albert”, always made a point to stop and chat about baseball, working out, and to ask how our day was going.

Lastly, we never go on any excursions or extras, as we’ve pretty much done them all over the years. But this year a great couple we met from New Brunswick suggested Chic Cabaret, and I have to say it was worth every cent and more. The talent those entertainers have, from their voices to the dancing, is top tier, just unbelievable. They are definitely levels above the nightly shows we’ve seen over the years at the various resorts we’ve been to(although we have always enjoyed most of the shows). We were just blown away.

The only suggestion I would make is to have hand sanitizer perhaps at the buffets, restaurants, and near the bars. Hundreds of hand touching the same tongs and scoop spoons during high peak cold and flu season will probably lead to spread of sickness at some point I’d have to believe.

Great, quieter resort with great food, great people. We’d definitely return 🌴🍺☀️

Warning: Long Review

SO MUCH TO SAY! Our trip as a couple was AMAZINGLY RELAXING! This was our second visit to DR; first stay at a TRS Resort (Palladium Group). The Amstar transportation to the resort was great - always is. We were warmly greeted at the hotel and provided cool towels to clean our hands, and given a chilled coconut water and pineapple drink. Check in was very quick, and our room in building 57 was immediately ready at 1430. This is the "slow season," so I'm sure this is not always the case. They drove us to the building and took our luggage up the stairs. There are no elevators, so keep that in mind when booking. It's nice and peaceful if you're looking for quiet quarters. We found it to be walking distance to everywhere. If you have trouble walking, no worries! There is ALWAYS someone in your building to assist and call for a golf cart, make dinner reservations (yes, you need them for the specialty restaurants despite what the website says), or call maintenance.

Our room was simply beautiful, clean, and comfortable. I have NEVER had a mattress in a hotel room this comfortable in my 50 years on this earth (lol). No neck/back pain for me during this visit. Other resorts have promised turn-down service and never delivered. We had it each evening and LOVED feeling spoiled!!!! Housekeeping kept our room clean and neat (we are pretty neat and try not to leave a disgusting room for them to work with), and we were always stocked with water and coffee. We were sure to tip daily and leave a large "thank you" when we left. It's not required, but the staff here work HARD, LONG HOURS. Like, I could never. At one point, the lock on our door stopped working. Maintenance was called, and they came as quickly as possible to change the batteries and we were back in business.

Of the all-inclusives we've stayed at, TRS Turquesa has the best food we've eaten thus far. I am a bit of a "foodie," so I anticipated the usual ick factor. Feeding multitudes of people all day is no tiny feat, so I always factor this in when grading the food. The largest buffet, Las Torres, is one of the shared restaurants. Sometimes, the kiddos are not supervised by their parents, and they tend to touch things, scratch their nose, touch the serving utensils, and then go about their way. It happens! Adults do it too! Just something to consider. Regardless, we ate. There are PLENTY of options, and we really, really enjoyed our food choices. The service is WONDERFUL, FRIENDLY, AND ACCOMODATING. We always opted to tip $1-$2 USD, and then more for dinner. Again, not required, and the staff here works endlessly!!!!!

The entertainment staff really, really did their best to get guests to enjoy the activities. We stretched on the beach one morning, and it set the tone for the day. One evening, we were searching for the Bingo area but stumbled upon an evening of wine and painting with a live cellist! Better than bingo, for sure! One area for improvement would be updating the app to reflect the activities and locations. It's a bit vague; helpful, but vague. Each day they have live artists (singers, sax players, violinists). I LOVED one of the singers. Like, LOVED! I don't know his name, but DAMN! He made me want to get up and dance. My heart. They grilled outside by the main pool....look...I can't say enough, and this review has gone on too long.

I have more to say, but this is enough. We will definitely go back. This is NOT party central, so if that's what you're looking for, this may not be your spot. That may be attributed to this being the slow season, but if it is, then it's the perfect time for me to be there. Plenty of chairs, a BEAUTIFUL BEACH, clean pools, peace, calm.

As for the people trying to sell you something - just say "no." Make it clear. It's very annoying, but they are trying to make a living like the rest of us.

The hotel is beautiful and well maintained. Beds and pillows are comfortable. Beach is beautiful and perfect for long walks although I found the undertow fairly strong so I swam in the main pool which was very nice and well maintained. Check-in was the best I have ever experienced at a hotel on vacation. Upon arrival to our room it was evident that the person who prepared it knew we were three people as the hide a bed was opened and made up. The rooms come with a robe and slippers for each guest, however we had one robe and one set of slippers and the other robe had no belt. It took some a few days to get us all the benefit of this perk. Room is equipped with a pod coffee make and a regular coffee make, however there was no pods or coffee supplied? Again difficult to get but once we did we weren't given any sugar or creamer so needless to say we didn't use it. Mini bar is not restocked daily. These are small things that can be avoided by educating your staff. One of the things that caught my attention when booking this trip was "butler" service. Take note this is not what you think it is. There are about 46 rooms per building and the butler is there to take care of the whole building. It's more of a concierge service than a personal butler, they are there to book your dinner reservations pretty much. The towel game is very much alive at this resort even though there are signs everywhere stating you are not allowed to reserve chairs, alot of the beach chairs are old, ripped and worn and could use replacing. I noticed people putting towels on beach chairs and pool chairs every morning. Shade can be hard to find if you don't take the time to secure your spot. Everything in this resort relies on you having a smartphone to get your any and all information from room service, various departments, restaurant menus, etc. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from and we never went hungry no complaints about the food. The resort has a huge variety of alcohol available whether it be Johnny Walker, Grey Good or Patron they have it. Disappointing however is there is only one type of white wine available; Chardonnay. The restaurants all have huge wine lists available for purchase at a minimum of $50 USD per bottle. I personally found this quite insulting that they have a variety on hand in the resort but they don't offer at least one other option for white considering they have two varieties of red. Would I go back? For the price I paid probably not it wasn't worth it. Also don't forget to bring Pepto or Immodium because the tourista is alive and well here you will need it. They tell you not to drink the water but I am sure the ice is made from the tap water and it is pretty much in every drink they make you.

Upon check in we were "upgraded" to a better room. When we got in there the room reeked of musty mold. It was unbearable. I told them the smell was horrible and we needed a different room, the butler apologized and offered us complimentary massages at the spa, he then took us to the room we originally booked which smelled fine. Later, we found out we were charged for the massages he offered us and they refused to take them off the bill. They sent us an email before our trip to "email our butler" the items we needed for our room. I ordered distilled water for my husband's CPAP, I selected the pillows we wanted and the free bottle of booze. Nothing we requested was provided, so I requested them again. Halfway through our trip we finally received the items. The bathroom offered no privacy, the water closet is open to the rest of the room with 6 inches of space above and below the door, so if you've ever wondered what your partner sounds like using the toilet this room is for you! Then you add on the fact that 3 out of the 6 in our group got sick from eating the food, you can only imagine how that sounds. The mattress was like sleeping on a piece of plywood. The pool and bar area was very nice however anyone in green shirt would try to sell you a time share and anyone in a blue shirt would constantly harass you to book the spa, I'm talking the same person 4 times a day. But, this was better than going to the beach where vendors constantly tried to sell you cheap items and men walked around with captive animals placing them on people and then demanding a tip. Then the rains came, which caused flooding, there was no way to walk the resort without wading through puddles of sewage back up. The smell of sewage was unbearable. We tried to get our butler to book us reservation for the restaurants and he told us the earliest was 10:30pm. The staff was constantly confused and delivered us items we never ordered; vodka, a hot bath and a birthday cake, they were all for another guest. The maid put rose petals out, I get it, it's supposed to be romantic, but I'm on vacation and cleaning up 200 rose petals so I can get in bed at night wasn't on my list of things I want to do on vacation. Also, when we arrived there at 4pm, starving from a day of travel we were shocked to find that none of the restaurants were open, you would think with an all inclusive there would be food available, but the restaurants (including buffet) don't open until 6:30pm

Dear Kyle H, We sincerely regret to hear about the many challenges you faced during your recent stay at our resort, and we deeply apologize for the inconveniences you experienced. Your feedback is incredibly valuable to us, and we are truly sorry that your vacation did not meet the high standards of service and comfort that we aim to provide. We understand your frustration regarding the initial room condition, and it is concerning to hear that the upgraded room had a musty smell. We have shared your comments with our maintenance team to ensure that rooms are inspected and properly treated to avoid any such issues in the future. We also apologize for the delays and missed requests in regard to the items you ordered for your room, as well as the discomfort caused by the bathroom layout. Your experience with the noise and lack of privacy is certainly not what we intend for our guests, and we will review these aspects to ensure better accommodations going forward. Regarding the food experience, we are truly sorry to hear that some members of your group became ill, and we take food safety very seriously. We will address this issue with our culinary team to ensure that proper precautions are in place. Furthermore, we apologize for the disturbance from vendors and the pressure from staff promoting extra services; this behavior is not reflective of the guest experience we strive to provide. We also regret that the flooding situation impacted your stay. Unfortunately, weather conditions can sometimes lead to unexpected challenges, but we are committed to resolving any issues promptly. Your feedback about the miscommunications with the butler, the surprise deliveries to your room, and the inconvenience of having no food options upon arrival has been duly noted. We will take steps to improve our coordination across all departments to ensure that such oversights do not occur in the future. Once again, we deeply apologize for all the inconveniences you encountered. We would like to assure you that your comments are being taken seriously, and we are committed to improving the quality of service for our guests. Thank you for bringing these matters to our attention, and we sincerely hope that you allow us the opportunity to regain your trust on a future visit. Warm regards, Y. Jiménez Hospitality Sr. Advisor

This TRS is very different (unfortunately) from TRS Playa Mujeres in Mexico.
We came expecting the same level of food, cleanliness and service that TRS Playa Mujeres offered and which we loved.
This resort is much older and in need of maintenance and a refresh.
Our rooms were tired - the door locks never worked properly and during the wee we had to get our cards reprogrammed 20 or more times. The staff said it was a computer issue that was affecting many guests.
We paid for two Poolview rooms but were given rooms that had no view of the pool or ocean. Back corner garden view at best and when we asked to be moved to pool view rooms that could actually see the pool, they told us the resort was full and they had nothing else - so sorry / too bad! We paid extra for pool view room upgrades when we originally booked and this was not right!
When we asked about the Air Canada vacations person that is supposed to be at the hotel a few times during the week (thinking they could help) the hotel told us they hadn't seen anyone from Air Canada vacations for weeks.
The food was very disappointing and both the cleanliness and variety were not up to par of good resorts like Secrets or Sandals or Club Med.
The day after new years some of the staff laughingly told us that they partied all night and were still drunk. Even the food at the buffet on new years day appeared to have leftovers from the previous day.
The pools was not cleaned regularly and when they did add chemicals, it was often in the morning when guests were already swimming.
On at least two occasions the pool water in a couple of the pools (the "Secret" pool in particular) was cloudy and we decided not to even take a chance by swimming in it.
There was no live music during the day which had been a big plus at TRS Mexico.
The beach here is very nice although the chairs are pretty basic.
There is lots of premium seating for Palladium members which goes completely unused and sits empty all day in many cases.
Do not go on the Palladium sales tour - it was promoted squick - 30 minutes, but it will always waste 1/2 a day and it is the same high pressure buy weeks and status in advance that is not worth the couple of free tickets to the show.
3 of the 4 people in our family got sick and that was the final straw for us - we won't be returning here.

Dear ChrisE14, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We truly regret to hear that your experience at TRS Turquesa did not meet your expectations, especially after your previous positive experience at TRS Playa Mujeres. Rest assured, we will review these matters with our team to ensure we provide accurate room allocations and address any maintenance issues promptly. We also apologize for the quality of the food and service you experienced, as well as the pool and cleanliness concerns. These are areas we continuously strive to improve, and we will reinforce our protocols to ensure the highest standards are met. We really loved our stay at the TRS Turquesa. We had a swim up junior suite and the room was excellent. Our butler Helmin really went out of his way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The swim up pool was amazing being able to step out on to your own private terrace and swim whenever you wanted to. All we wanted from our trip was complete relaxation so having a private place to read and swim was ideal for us.
Our room key bands never worked. We think because they were constantly wet but if you ask they will give you cards as well.
I had a few issues with noise levels when sleeping. Our room was the closest to the butlers station and people tend to go and get their planning done first thing in the morning so we ended up closing up all our wardrobes so the serving hatch was less noisy and putting a damp towel along the bottom of the main door. Im sure it’s fine for early risers but we like to sleep until at least 8am on holiday.
Drinks were plentiful through the mini bar, swim up pool bars and main bars.
Being able to order room service 24/7 is a godsend. We had a few problems with ordering breakfast and didn’t get every thing we ordered most days and it was often late, but lunch was always spot on. The TRS a la cartes are much better than the a la cartes on the other hotels on site in our opinion. We loved La Boheme and Tentazioni. We would not rate Bamboo or Portofino in the complex. The grill for lunch was also excellent. Capriccio was good for breakfast.
Transport around the site is great. They have buggies that will pick you up and ferry you around anywhere on site.
The beach is beautiful. There is plenty of shade when needed. The sand is very soft and yes there is some seaweed but it’s constantly churning in the sea so there’s always going to be some no matter how quickly they clear it. The sea was quite rough with a strong under tide and there is also a big drop walking out in to the ocean so may not be suitable to some swimmers but it is really warm and turquoise waters.
I could go on about this place all day but the crux is the matter is that if you are easy going you’re going to love this hotel. We would definitely return!

Our stay at the TRS Resort was a mix of highs and lows. Let's start with the positives:
The butler service, particularly from Elaine, was exceptional. She was always ready to answer our questions and support our needs. The rooms were impressively clean and well-maintained. Housekeeping did an excellent job, ensuring our beds were made and the room was tidy every time we returned.
However, our experience was marred by several issues:
Check-in was a disaster. We waited for 2 hours, only to be served by an inexperienced receptionist who couldn't explain the resort's offerings. To add insult to injury, our room key didn't work, resulting in another 1.5-hour wait.
The beds were uncomfortably firm, and the mattresses were so responsive that every time I moved, I'd wake up my wife. This significantly impacted our sleep quality throughout the stay.
In-room dining was hit or miss. Sometimes food arrived promptly, other times it was hours late or didn't show up at all. With restaurants closing at 3:30 PM and reopening at 6:30 PM, relying on room service for late lunch was risky.
Transportation back from shows and the New Year's party was challenging. Some drivers were quite rude when we asked for directions to the TRS resort.
On the bright side, most staff were friendly and pleasant. However, English communication was often difficult, so Spanish speakers will have an easier time.
In conclusion, while the resort has some strong points like cleanliness and butler service, the operational issues with check-in, dining, and transportation, coupled with uncomfortable beds, significantly impacted our stay. The TRS Resort has potential but needs to address these problems to provide a truly luxurious experience.

Our first time at this hotel and the Palladium chain and it was wonderful. We had been to Punta Cana before but nothing compared to our experience here. We had a room in excellent condition, everything was always impeccable, the bed very comfortable, water pressure and temperature in the shower without problems. The butler service is very useful, always very attentive. The beach was always clean and there were lounge chairs for everyone, although if you arrive late you may run out of space under the shade.
The only low points I can mention are the following:
- They never replaced the minibar in the room despite having requested it.
- The drinks were very average, sometimes they served us very well prepared drinks and other times we couldn't even drink them.
- The Secret pool for adults only is an area where there is practically no shade. Either you go directly into the sun or you come back in the evening. At the bar of this pool they told me that they do not distribute water, so I should go look for it in the lobby.
- The SPA massages are beginner-level and not worth what they charge.
Regarding the meals, in general we liked it quite a bit. Sometimes the meat and fish at Helios were delicious and other days they were downright poorly prepared. The breakfast pastries are simply bad. We found everything else to be excellent, lots of variety, fresh food, something different every day.
In short, we really liked the hotel and we would love to return.

The room was well located near the sea, near the pool and adjacent to the wall separating the complex from the public beach of Bavaro. Before December 23rd it was quite quiet we heard that the music of the pool but from the 23rd the party started on the other side of the wall and the music played very loud until midnight then dropped a little. The room was fine but would need to be refurbished, the fridge cabinet the door was almost torn off, there was no handle to open the patio door which was very heavy and water, hot or cold, was occasionally missing. There are many staff who move from one place to another in the Palladium complex where we had access to à la carte and buffet restaurants, the majority of staff are very helpful but not necessarily reliable. We were not sick, we were very careful for the choice of our diet and we used bottled water for our consumption and brush our teeth, other people we met were very sick. The beach is good but you have to get up early to have a place, it is the advantage of being in the buildings near the beach, in short a pleasant stay but far from perfection.

I don’t really write reviews but…

Let me just start off by saying; would I book TRS Trequesa again? Probably not. On one hand, the resort was extremely beautiful and I loved the designs and landscaping of it all. We had a garden/pool view room and it was very well put together with a jetted tub, rainfall shower, king size bed and tv packed with lots of movie channels. The staff even put together a very nice anniversary setup including champagne, rose pedals, and a bubble bath.

However, on a few of the days, we noticed our sheets had yellow and brown stains on them. Our room also wouldn’t be cleaned until 4:30-5:00pm when we would be returning to get ready for a dinner reservation. We also heard drilling and hammering coming from work being done on another room.

The food also needs a lot of work. El Dorado was probably the best resturant we visited out of everything. The food just wasn’t the greatest and despite so many food options, there wasn’t anything that was really tasty. We also got room service which came cold and was not flavourful either.

They tell you to book reservations for dinner in the app, which worked most of the time. However, most of the restaurants are booked way in advance and the app will show availability when there isn’t any. For instance, we booked la adelita 3 days in advance, only to show up to the restaurant and find it closed. If a place is closed, why am I able to book reservations for it?

One of my favourite parts was the pool. The Secrets pool was very beautiful and I loved the swim up bar. We also had a 24 hour pool right outside our room, which was perfect for night swims. The gym was also very well equipped and had lots of machines. I was honestly surprised at how big it was for a resort.

The beach was very nice, however, there was construction being done on a new restaurant meaning most of the day involved drilling and jack hammering.

Also, walking in the resort means being stopped every 3 minutes by staff trying to sell a spa package.

Overall, I would not go back and I expected more given the ratings and reviews. Well I did enjoy my time, some things need to be changed.

Dear Sophia T., First of all, we would like to thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are pleased to hear that you found aspects of your stay enjoyable, such as the layout of the resort, your room, and the details to celebrate your anniversary. We are sincerely sorry that certain aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. It is worrying to hear that you experienced issues with housekeeping and room service, as well as disruptions caused by nearby construction. These situations are far from the standard we seek to offer. Your feedback on the dining experience, both in the restaurants and room service, is very valuable and will be taken into account to improve the quality and consistency of our services. Regarding the difficulties with reservations through the app and unexpected closures, we understand the frustration this may have caused and will review our processes to ensure greater clarity and efficiency for our guests. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed our facilities, especially the pools and gym, and that these contributed to making your stay more enjoyable. We appreciate your feedback again and are sorry that you did not find everything you expected. We value your opinion as it helps us identify areas for improvement, and we hope that in the future it will give us the opportunity to change your perception. Kind regards, D. Cruz Hospitality Advisor

When I stayed there in January I was at building 58 which I found to be pretty quiet. Who is staying the building and hanging out around the pool and bar areas in the area is going to factor in on noise levels and that is impossible to predict ahead of time. They did have a food truck that was near building 56 so it was busier by that building.

You can't make reservations in advance. It is likely that some restaurants will not be available when you want to eat. There is more availability at the very earliest and latest times.
