Am just back from abroad and saddened to find that our local pub, The Crees Inn at Abernethy is now closed. Mine Host, Brian Johnston, died very suddenly and our 'local' has now closed. Brian's main interest in life was his selection of Real Ales and his pub won the CAMRA Pub of the Year award in 2002 and 2009....

My brother in Law and I enjoyed lovely hospitality during our recent stay during the 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles. Rooms were reasonably priced, beers and food similarly well priced and of good standard. Let's face it if you wanted Michelin star food and top wines you'd stay somewhere upmarket but for a homely feel with friendly staff at good...

Little changes in the Crees Inn but it is still as difficult as ever to find this traditional little Scottish pub and hotel. The main road sweeps through Abernethy missing the main street altogether. There is a board on the main road pointing up a narrow lane to the pub, or you can find it by turning off into the...

I've written about the Crees Inn before. The report was a year ago and you can read it on here. We've been back this weekend and nothing has changed.... except for the beers! Its as good as ever... and the hospitality is the same. The food is the same. The friendliness is the same. The room is the same. The...

Had a meal here on the 28th May, food was great, and the service was friendly. Great selection of well kept beers, and to cap it off, a traditional music session (last Sundays of the month) rounded off a lovely evening.

Had an enjoyable meal with the other half last night (04/04/13). I had fish and chips whilst she had scampi and chips. It was just what we were looking for. Straight forward food to a high standard. This is the nice local pub I want near where I live instead of the endless Wotherspoon branded bars. If I could move...

We went here on 23rd September for a family Sunday tea and there was 7 of us. On arrival we were made most welcome and directed to our table. The young waiter was very attentitive and we had a bit of banter with him all evening. We had two courses and coffee, the food was delicious and well presented and...

Stayed here beginning of August and was really amazed that lovely old fashioned Scottish Inns still existed. The atmosphere was excellent. The beers were different and tasty. The rooms (although slightly dated) were very clean and tidy and the beds comfortable. Breakfast was very good and the landlord extremely helpful. Very quiet location even though in was in the middle...

Abernethy is a tiny village in the heart of Perthshire and an ideal place to stay and tour Scotland. All of thr main cities including Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Inverness are within 60 to 90 minutes drive. The Crees Inn is a picturesque pub with simple en suite bedrooms in the middle of the village. It is well known locally...

We stayed at the crees for 3 nights this july and this was our second stay. We ate in the restaurant 3 nights in a row! The meals are great at reasonable prices. There's an excellent selection of draft ales/beers at the bar. The manager is a great host - very friendly. The rooms are basic but everything we needed...
