Detailed Reviews
Visited for the 1st time on the suggestion of a friend & will definitely return. Whilst we tried their new frozen oyster starter, I wouldn't recommend them, however the remaining food was exceptional.
Service by our waitress Hannah was engaged, she knew her menu well & made regular & appropriate visits to our table to check on needs & drink requirements.

I was with my parents and we decided to stop by for lunch 27/1/24. We have never been before. I will mention the date as I would like to acknowledge the waitresses and chef.
We were greeted so warmly straight away. We had a lovely table and the waitress gave us a few minutes and took our drinks order and another delivered some dried salami slices, while we looked at the menu. My father and I ordered the Angus chuck steak from the specials menu and my mother the beetroot sorbet from the entrée menu. I couldn't fault anything. the steak was cooked to perfection (med rare)...with garlic butter, the slaw and chips were the perfect size serving.. I notice with a lot of pubs, the servings are huge and you walk out feeling uncomfortably full, so these services were perfect. Mum and Dad had dessert which they really enjoyed too. We will go back in a heartbeat! Thank you for a great afternoon.

I booked a table for 14 at The Plough, we were staying at Ballan and The Plough was recommended to us by locals. The decor was lovely, the staff very helpful and the food even better and we could pay singularly, which was a great for such a large group. Wine was by the glass or bottle and very tasty. Thanks you to the staff and the Chef for making our dinner a very pleasant experience. I would definitely recommend !!

Thank you for your kind words. We love having bigger groups and appreciate the small things that make a difference. It is very simple for us to split the bill, and being able to offer over 15 wines by the glass ensures we have something for everyone. We look forward to extending our hospitality for you and your friends soon. Cheers

We have been coming to the Myrniong hotel since it was an original old style pub right through to its current form, The plough.
I can’t actually believe that I am writing this review!
Through the years we have celebrated birthdays, special occasions and everything in between. We have been to many Locals nights.
So on Saturday we went again to our special place to celebrate a few milestones in our life.
Was greeted by one friendly staff who guided us through the Covid check in process, no worries.
Then we were seated and unfortunately, that’s when it went downhill.
Our server was rude and snooty from the get go.
He treated us like primary school children and had a very condescending attitude, he made us feel very uncomfortable and awkward.
We looked over the same menu that has been in place for a long time.
It was not a busy night as Covid restrictions are still in place.
The service was incredibly slow and staff only visited our area if they had to.
Somewhere during the service we had a new server who was a terribly grumpy person.
I asked a simple question regarding the origin of the wine and she tuned her back to me and stormed off!! I would have preferred the snooty woke guy.
My steak came out and it was fatty and the pepper sauce was bland brown water, I honestly couldn’t believe it!! By this stage I was too scared to approach the wait staff as she was unapproachable.
The Bok choy was nice and that’s what the one star is for.
I have never felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome in all the years I’ve ever dined.
Do not go to this place if you wish to celebrate, the service staff will ensure that you will have none of that.
I will tell ten people about my horrible experience and so will the other diners and discourage anyone from going.
They ruined our evening, with their bad atmosphere and mediocrity.
After all these years? I’m still in shock...

My husband and l had a wonderful experience at The Plough!
We were greeted at the door by a very friendly waiter who showed us to our table by the fire. Our main meat dishes were exquisitely cooked to perfection, so tender and moist. We ordered the caramel panna cotta for dessert which did not disappoint, it was so creamy and smooth! We will definitely be returning for another meal.

We had an adult sibling and partners lunch here last weekend, and it was fantastic! It was freezing outside but toasty warm inside, excellent service and all our meals were delicious.
If you're in the area, it is definitely worth the short detour off the highway.

We booked lunch based on great reviews. We were not disappointed! The hotel has a really nice ambience with 2 open fires going on the day we were there. One of the fires had couches in front which made for a lovely area for drinks and dessert. The service was great - prompt and friendly. The food was fresh and very tasty. The slow cooked pork and slow cooked lamb were a delight. And the chocolate pots for dessert were good. We enjoyed the experience so much that the lunch date extended to 4 hours. Highly recommended and we will be back.

We attended an engagement party in the Marquee function room. It’s a seperate entrance to the Hotel, great ambience, great setup. The finger food served was absolutely scrumptious and it was continuous all night long including mini desserts and Coffee.. Great looking Bar set up. The Staff were efficient and very happy to be serving us 10/10 to the staff.
Would highly recommend the Plough Marquee for any function you might be planning..

Not a bad place to meet "halfway" between Melbourne and the "Rat".
Cosy open fire.
Menu should cater for most people. Not sure for folk that have intolerances.
Service is average based upon other better regional restaurants.
