Heritage Marari is a hidden gem; off the beaten track and was absolutely what I needed - but was not expecting. The agent arranged it for me after my original hotels let me down and I found much more than I expected. On arrival, I was jet lagged; Bruce and Dileep set me up in a bungalow on site, in...

Dilip & Bruce are two of the most gracious, thoughtful hosts I've had the pleasure of meeting over the course of three years traveling throughout India. They have created a haven for visitors to Kerala looking to be well taken care of, without being separated from the beautiful natural environment (versus manufactured resort groups) and local communities (you can walk...

We were a group of 10 adults and 11 kids, Bruce and Dilip took perfect care of us. The 3 bungalows are spacious and newly refreshed (the single rooms still need to be renovated). The meals are perfect, you can also request a cooking lesson. The martial arts and dance show in the evening was magic. The hotel is at...

I really enjoyed my stay at Heratage Marari. The place is surrounded by nature and is located next to a small river where you can go by canoe. You can walk to the endless beach in just a few minutes, and you are almost alone there. The manager was very welcoming and helpful. He helped us arrange day trips with...

At the side of Arabian Sea, next to Kerala's Backwater, an excellent boutique hotel, that felt like home. Sought after and found in different places of India and brought here traditional wooden houses, which are perfectly and modernly equipped. Here we enjoyed the best coffee in Kerala, the nicest beds and last but not least the best traditional Kerala cuisine....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Heritage Marari, a boutique resort with four traditionally built Keralian houses (Tharawad, restored and recreated) located ten minutes from Marari beach. The rooms have beds and furniture that we've sourced from traditional homes and the famed craftsmen of the region. Furnishings too rely on local materials, offset with linen, rough-woven cotton and other natural fabrics. Our promise is to provide as much care, comfort and peace you would get in a star-rated hotel, with the personal and sociable touch that is synonymous with Home Stays. Your host Bruce is always available to help you settle comfortably in your rooms. Being a local from a well respected family, he brings you tales of the bygone generations and can guide you through the soul of this fishermen's' village called Marari. Ours is the only property around Marari which is on the backwaters and has access to the beach directly by canoe and by foot. ... more   less
