Hiromi had the patience of a saint as he helped me print out my boarding pass. Good breakfast .nice pool area and a 10 min walk to Alicia and Sasua beaches . also a few blocks away from a baseball field where i enjoyed watching the locals play ball. Hope to be back next year ,thanks

noisy hotel, room was close to stairs, and window faced empty lot. but friendly staff. breakfast was included, and was always good. tv was a bit too small. bar fridge was there, which was nice. basic hotel, so price was reasonable. a/c worked well. hated the noise from all the motorcycles.

[---]

I just returned from an 8 day stay at the New Garden hotel in Sosua. The New Garden is very close to the middle of town, restaurants, and the beach, but yet is relatively quiet. I paid $40 a night during peak season for a clean basic second-floor room with double beds, shower, fridge, and a great balcony overlooking the pool. Air conditioning and ceiling fan were included, but I only needed to use the A/C for one day. The pool was clean and good-sized, and I used it every day.

New Garden is one of the several “girlfriend“-friendly hotels in the area, and it attracts its share of single men looking for Sosua night life. In general, though, things are pretty subdued, and it’s certainly possible for other types of travelers to coexist, as long as you choose your room carefully. Avoid the first-floor rooms - they are where the “mongers” (single men mentioned above) tend to stay. Those rooms are all large plate-glass and aluminum fronts with no balconies, and they look very much like storefronts. On the other hand, the second and third floor rooms (4 through 11, and 18 through 24) all have balconies, opening windows, better ventilation, and views. Rooms 18-24 also have an excellent rear view onto the local baseball field.

It’s also possible to dine out on a budget in Sosua. Some places are a little funky-looking, but I was fine eating everywhere. Rocky’s Bar and Grill (just up the street) has GREAT ribs, but you’ll have to wait an hour for them to cook. PJ’s in the middle of Sosua has a variety of decent breakfasts for $2 US. La Roca, next to PJ’s, also has good food and a $4 US buffet on Wednesdays. La Gaviota has good authentic Dominican food, with a complete dinner special at $4 US.

Room lockboxes at the New Garden (always recommended anywhere) are $2.50 US a night. Bring earplugs for sleeping for everyone, no matter where you stay in Sosua. Internet cafes are everywhere - rates are usually less than $2/hr US.

I would return to the New Garden without hesitation, as long as I could book one of the rooms mentioned above.

This is most definitely a single man's paradise. The area is okay but I would suggest to walk in pairs. The hotel staff (Jen, Omar) are the best. They try to help out as much as possible to make your stay comfortable. Breakfast is free and very good. As hot as it gets, you really need to eat breakfast. There are 2 grocery stores and a pharmacy walking distance. You need to get bottled water as much as possible because of the heat and put them in the refrigerator in your room.
The ladies are beautiful, just be careful.

PROS:
All I can say, Awesome!!! This is the place for single men to stay. Others hotels my have more amenities but location and the local ladies hang-out spot they do not. I recommend a room on the second or third floor over-looking the pool. Step out onto the balcony and look down at the beautiful local ladies was great.
The free WI-FI is great, it works in your room and down by the pool-side. Skype, yahoo messenger, Facebook all work perfect. Other hotels have WI-FI in one hot spot down in the lobby. The free breakfast is great, cooked to order. Others hotel have buffet style with the same food every day. New Garden is ground zero for the night-life and disc club (Classico). The rooms have free TV, adult channels, ESPN, Sports, ABC, NBC. Etc. The room have a free digital safe, others hotel charge for a safe usage per day. The New Garden is not a resort with all the bells and whistle but it has everything men need to have an awesome experience.
CONS:
No wash towels. It maybe a custom thing but they do not provide wash towel. Bring your owe.
No 24hr room service
No microwave in rooms
No Iron and Ironing board in room, must check it out from front desk.

Traveled to Sosua for 3 nights in the early part of March and opted to stay at the New Garden (NG) on the advice of MANY. I arrived by air at the Cibao Airport in Santiago and took Caribe Tours coach bus to Sosua which is a 2.5 hour ride. For $160RD it's a steal! At the Caribe Tours station in Sosua, I hoped on a motoconcho for the 5 minute ride into Sosua. I told the guy "New Garden", he gave me a big thumbs up and we were off.

5 Minutes later, I was dropped off in front of the NG and I walked into the lobby. I did NOT have a reservation but this didn't seem to be a problem. I asked if they had anything available and the hostess replied "cash or card" I told her cash and she flipped over the rates sheet. Cash is king in the Dominican Republic and most hotel rates are cheaper if you pay with cash. Got a room on the first floor poolside for $55USD. Would have been cheaper if I had called ahead. Prob around $45USD.

The Rooms are very simple but I msut say the place is spotless. Clean bedding, cleam floor, clean bathroom. All rooms come with an electronic safe which is free, cable TV with free porn, a fridge and armoire to hang your stuff. Bed was huge; a king. Pool is sort of small but pretty nice and very clean. There is also a bar adjacent to the restaurant all near the pool out front. Entire place is gated in and a guard is posted by the entrance all night.

Breakfast is FREE and is made to order. Can't beat a hot free breakfast.

There is a farmaci 50 feet from the NG entrance, a grocery story about a minute's walk away, a 24 hour internet cafe adjacent to the farmaci, a bank with ATM less than 2 minute's walk with a posted guard w/a shotgun out all night in front the ATM, and the beach is about a 10 minute walk give or take.

Bottom line, you can't beat NG's central location, free breakfast, and reasonable rates. I plan to make this my1st choice on every trip.

I'll start off by saying I'm a bit of a hotel snob, so take what i say with a grain of salt. That being said, I'd NEVER stay at a place like this in the US, or come to the New Garden as a couple or family. I spent the first hour in the room spraying down the walls, sheets, room with OFF! as i got bitten by every tropical bug imaginable. The TV was a tiny 13in and the shower was this tiny little stall that never seemed to get hot. This place is what I imagine a Motel 5 to be like. its a 2Star by US standards.
For the positives, It is very central, It had a working ac (which i heard isnt the case at all hotels in the city) has a friendly staff, good food (especially the lobster pasta), and is perfect for the single guy who came here for what Sosua is synonymous for. At $60 bucks a night, I felt like i stayed there for next to free.
My advice, as long as you know what it is, you'll be happy you came. If you read the reviews, thinking you're going to walk into a $60 a night 4 star resort, you'll be sorely mistaken.

Dear customer, that You alone do we define "snob" helps us things. 1) The mosquitoes are not only here but everywhere; 2) The televisions do not think are so small unless you are not accustomed only at Cinema. 3) As you say, the food is good and the staff were friendly and that we like. 4) The United States is different from the Dominican Republic as well as the standards hotels of the two countries.

2nd trip to Sosua and 2nd time staying New Garden. Staff, including Jenny, Lorenzo (thow owner) and others are all very nice and helpful. Safe, clean, conveniently located and very fun hotel to stay at. A lot of other friendly travelers and lots of girls around.
Room is not a 5 star room but it has everything you need. Big bed, cable tv, fridge, safe, AC and bathroom. This place is very accustomed to its guests. Also the restaurant is pretty good and free breakfast is solid and made to order. Drinks are moderately priced.
Have seen some other places nearby, and while some may have slightly nicer rooms, the atmosphere lacks what New Garden has to offer.
