We booked Villa Preciosa for 6 people to celebrate my sister's Bachelorette Party weekend. The villa was amazing, all three bedrooms we clean and just plain beautiful. We had a chef prepare dinner on arrival, which was amazing considering we got in pretty late. The pool area was just gorgeous and we had a view from the mountains to the ocean in the distance.

We rented a car and drove to the villa, so the first time we had some difficulty finding the exact location of the gated community, but other than that it wasn't too far from the night life in Cabarete (about a 20 minute drive).

The security staff was very helpful and we always felt protected. Our favorite was Jorge who would come to us as soon as we would call with a request.

Overall, we had a great experience, but would recommend you read the 'black book' on the villa and the 'extras'. We were under the impression that the food/drinks at the villa were included in our chef/bartender package but they were not and we got charged extra at check-out.

This is the perfect place to stay. The property and villas are absolutely beautiful, spacious with STUNNING views. The common space is great for entertaining, lounging or evening working. Thank you for a wonderful stay. We are looking forward to returning...

This place is Nuts! (That means nice)
Love everything about it from its sophisticated and modern decor to the villas architecture and there surrounding landscape, all are well thought up. Staff is accommodating and pleasant to be around and left me alone when I wanted to be. Over the years I've stayed at other villas and hotels in different locations around the Dominican Republic. This is by far the best place I've stayed at. Can't wait to go back real SOON! By the way, I wash't paid to post this review I was an actually a 1st time GUEST.

Sandrine was really helpful at first when we checked in collecting our money. We stayed at the Casa karma villa and then was upgraded to a huge villa 16b great views the villas their are awesome very nicely decked out with all the bells and whistles.

The management is terrible are villa was robbed of jewelry and money while we weren't their the safes didn't work properly at all. Sandrine was not at all sincere or sympathetic about what happen to us on her property grounds. We believe it was an inside job whoever did this to us. Sandrine was very unprofessional and not at all respectful of us as her guests and tourists visiting her country. Sandrine believes what she wants to and will not investigate to find out what exactly happened in case of any incidents. Bottom line I will never stay here every again no matter how nice the views and villas are.

I do not recommend staying at this property at all the management is not good at all and has no control of what happens on the property. Should be called Stay at your own risk. Will not stay here on my next trip to the Dominican Republic.

good morning, first you was here without reservation, I will try to find a villa, you told me that you have a budget only for a little house, but I haven't other option, I let you a villa 3 bedrooms the 2 first nights and after one of my most beautiful villa with 4 bedrooms, you needed pay only 50%. Because I didn't understant that you told me that you received a "confirmation from booking"and not Me! normaly you was only 4 people, after by night you call me that somebody stole something,..at 3 am. sorry you are wake up by night and I'm working 8to 7 pm in my office. so directly in the morning I was there, I checked on the book at the entrance and I see that you was 8 people bynight, some guests from the road. Never I rented a villa to them, it was your responsability sir. If you are coming in the villa with girls and they stoled what can I do? you was very upset with me, why?? I rented a house not the other services.., I'm think you was very happy when you see the house, the only problem was with your guests! You ask me to put camera inside the house?? sir we can't do that, it's privacity. we have only camera on the road if somebody leave the house and we didn't see on the camera, the police was there, the responsable also and they tell you that they can't do nothing, and they tell you the same things, that was your guests and you know that is true. Be carreful first when you take choose to take people from outside that you din't know if you can trust them. I'm think in US you don't do that, why you do that in DR? sandrine .

First and foremost, rent a car while staying here. The management charges $40. U.S. minimum each and everytime you use a cab. More about that later.
The villa community address says Sosua, but it is approximately midway between Sosua and Cabarete. A quick 20 minute ride from Puerto Plata airport. Once you get to the turnoff to the villas, it is at least 10km to the community front gate along a narrow road that is both dark and curvy. I would not attempt to walk from the main road to the community at night or in the day for that matter.
The villas are built on a hillside, can you say steep? Most of the villas are built very similarly.
The villas are large and well built. The landscaping is excellent where your villa seems and is isolated from the road and your neighbor. Can you say peaceful and very quiet. It is so quiet you can hear your brains moving. But the road up to your villa is steep. Can you say, very steep.
Let me put it this way, the road up to the villas could easily qualify as a great ski run if it snowed here. Having said that, the views are awesome, almost 270 degrees of view all the way to the sea.
The villas are designed with a contemporary flair including interior design furnishings. Tile and wood flooring throughout. I am not a fan of concrete furnishings, such as kitchen counter tops, bathroom sinks and tubs etc. The kitchen countertop does not look good with all the stains from glasses, drinks, food grease, etc, imbedded in the surface and cannot be removed unless sanded down. But, they are tough to break.
The housekeeping was one of my lowest rated portions of the villas. These are supposed to be and are upscale villas, so the associated housekeeping should be up to those standards. They weren't.There was no toilet paper, napkins, tissues, etc in the unit. Lots of bugs, both flying and crawling were found in the unit. Now the onsite exterminator did visit the unit and did his magic to eradicate the creepy crawlers. Not only that, but he returned on separate occasions to ask if we had any more problems, which there weren't any. But he did return to address our (my daughter's) outright fright of any, i do mean any flying or creepy crawler.
In one of the bedrooms, there were found used condoms and condom wrappers in the bed. Again we attempted to contact Sandrine. But nothing. Mery did show up, but we never heard anything else on the issue.
We (my daughter) attempted to contact management (Sandrine) on numerous occasions but she never responded, but sent an associate (Mery) to remedy all complaints. There are some things that management has to respond to in person and not send a trainee to fix what is wrong.
When we first arrived, Sandrine was in the office to collect the payment for the unit. But then had the taxi driver take us to our unit. We never saw her again.
You would think that someone would give you information reference the unit, how to contact people, what to do in an emergency, etc, etc. How to use the appliances, the lights, etc. Nothing. We could not even call out because the telephone was inoperable. As well as one of the bedroom tvs, and the internet access, etc. Now, typically I do not use internet or tv while on holiday. But other family members do. It took three days to sort out this problem. The bedroom tv was never fixed. Getting the access to Wi-fi was almost comical. It did work for maybe a half day, then down again. Then Mery found out that the passwords had been changed. Talk Keystone cops on this one.
Now we read previous trip advisor users write that Sandrine and Christopher went out of their way to make sure everything was satisfactory to the renters. Not in our case. Neither responded. Even e-mail requesting Sandrine to come to our villa because we had issues which we thought management would and should have responded to. Nothing. She sent the trainee Mery. Now Mery did attempt to resolve our issues, but she should have been in a monitoring role because she could not make any decisions regarding our complaints, but would have to return to the office to get a resolution.
Now, when we first got to the unit, we were surprised by a bowl of candy, crackers, etc. which were on the kitchen counter along with a 700ml bottle of Brugal rum, different bottles of beer, and water. Ok, nice gesture you say. NOT. Lo and behold, taped to the refrigerator door was a list of the items with an associated price. Talk about tacky. The nightly rate for this condo, should have warranted these items as a gift to the visiting renter. It connotes the tackiness of a down scale hotel. Not expected in this caliber of villa rental. Most of the villas I have rented, presented these to the visiting renter as a gratis for renting the unit. And, and, the prices were inflated over the restaurant on site. The 700 ml of Brugal had a price of $15. U.S. We purchased a 1700 ml of Brugal Viejo for $22. Even the cerveza were more costly than in the on site restaurant. To us, this was Tacky and nickel and diming us.
Now about renting a car. We were picked up at the airport by a designated Agua Dulce taxi. The fee was $40. U.S from the airport. We asked the driver to stop at the Supermercado on the way to the villas. The driver told us that he could not do it but had to take us directly to the villas. Then when we wanted to go to the supermercado after checking in to our unit, we were charged an additional $40. U.S to go back to the market. Now mind you, we came past the same market to get to the villas and it is not half way to the airport. Can you say gouging.
Even when you call a taxi, the taxi does not collect from you the user, but notifies the office that you used the taxi service. Can you say controlling and gouging again.
Again, rent a car, you do not pay $40.U.S. a day,
Overall, the villas were very nice, especially if you have better interactions with management than we had.
One other issue. One family member sat in a chair at the desk and the chair broke. After inspecting the chair, we found it only had two screws when it required 4 screws. Guess what. The broken chair showed up on the final billing statement for a fee of $20.00 U.S. (for two screws??) No one in management even bothered to ask what happened or if someone had been hurt. One of the guards came and picked up the broken chair, and that was it.
Overall, I rated the villas low because of the management, or lack thereof. The supporting cast did attempt to rectify things, but they only have so much power.
Would I return here. NO.

Brother in law got locked in tiny bathroom for 2 hours because the handle to dead bolt on door had broken off. Security couldn’t get him owner, owner was called, he couldn’t get him out. Eventually me and my brother popped hinges off door and were able to free him. Upon getting him out and everyone being emotional the owner insinuated that we had broken the door and became very confrontational.... While checking out they sent host to come do final walk through(even though they hadn’t done an original walk through at check in) They claimed that we were missing a towel and that were to be charged $50USD. After arguing and ripping apart house a suitcases we still had no sign of the “missing” towel. Finally after pleading our case they agreed not to charge us. They also accepted responsibility for the bathroom door situation and claimed that we would receive our full refund. They proceeded to charge us $351 for the door and when we questioned why they told us we would receive our deposit but then charged us, they stated “we wanted to avoid any confrontation.” Both events were unfortunate and after an emotional first night with bathroom incident it was absurd what we had to deal with at check out. Wish it all hadn’t happened because it deterred any hope a return trip and potential investment into a property there...AVOID THIS PROPERTY!

I stayed in the one-bedroom apartment. Though the place was very cool it came without a water cooler so you had to drink warm water after I had to ask for a bottle. I've been to this country 20 times and never had to ask for water. The electrical system is absolutely ridiculous in the breaker box flips on and off all night long and you can't get more than an hour of sleep without all the electric turning on and off including fans and air conditioners. While this is happening the breaker box is making a loud clicking noise which will wake you up out of a sound sleep. The place is beautiful but I will never stay here again. It's entirely too far from everything and the lack of sleep for the last 3 days is taking its toll on me. Lastly after 5 it's difficult to reach anyone regarding issues. Maybe the two and three-bedroom Villas are better but I will never stay in the one-bedroom apartment again. I'm heading to Santo Domingo for one night and hoping to get a good night's sleep there.. I will contact my credit card company when I get back to the States because these people here are simply yessing me to death.

I LOVE IT!! This is the ONLY PLACE I stay when I go to the Dominican. If your looking for Quality service and Luxury Private Accommodations at a reasonable price this is the place for you... Quiet in the hills gated community. It's nothing like it.. You are 5 min from the beach and restaurants and activities... Everything you need and want is here.. It's a must see!!

I read some of the reviews here and they mention the owners. Well, each property is unique to a different owner or owner(s). So referring to the exact property could help. Personally, I went to the DR to go house hunting and I stayed at Casa Karma (among other properties). This property was wonderful! The trees made the front pool feel very private... there was a nice view of the ocean and the inside decoration was tasteful and blended in well with the nature. The right side (facing the ocean) and the back doesn't have a neighbour and the trees block off direct views to the neighbouring properties. It left a very good impression and the community felt very safe.

Two towns and a beach about 10 minutes in each direction and very close to the airport. This property is excellent for people that want the perks of a tropical paradise but also want a sense of privacy. Would definitely stay there again!

If you read the response the owner replies to honest reviews it’s disgusting. We went there and they tried to say a towel was missing and tried to charge us $50. My brother got locked in the bathroom due to a bad lock and after two hours they had to take down the door and they said it was fine we would get the security deposit since it was their fault and then charged $350. The owner threatens to post a video of our behavior. When a guest was trapped inside for two hours they then decided to do the towel scam the next day. Watch out for the owner response they lie and take no responsibility. Some people don’t deserve to be in business and this is one of them.you should be ashamed people work hard for their money as you try to Scam guest and take advantage.
