Detailed Reviews
I have visited the Waterfront restaurant a couple of times, with very different excpiriences. the first time we got there was right before Christmas when someone was clearly having an office work-party there. They used the restaurant soundsystem to tell all of us who were the funniest person at work and so on. It took forever. So did getting our food. The clueless waiter never got us the starters we ordered, and when the food arrived after 45 minutes it was not cooked as orderd.
We went there another time, because someone raved about the view there at sunset. It is spectcular. The food we ordered came late and almost cold, but we knew that and thus it was not that annoying the second time.
The food is to highly priced when compared to qulity and service at this place.
Will recommend, but only because of the view.

After spending several nights in another hotel only a few blocks away I welcomed hotel waterfronts quiet location. It is on a deadend street so you do not have to listen to the night time street noises(motorcycles).I had my own separate cabana therefore did not have to listen to neighbors noise either. The room was clean and the maid service excellent. The desk clerks spoke english/spanish,very helpful. From my porch I could see the bay and enjoy the sunset for $ 30/night. Cheap, clean, friendly hotel. Skip their restaurant, it's not tipical Dominican and it's way too expensive. Try "tipico alberto" on the main street of Sosua, 3 minutes from the hotel.

love sosua, have a penthouse here, and we rank ALL of the restaurants in the area so our guests know where to dine. the service is the worst, the volume of the music is borderline obnoxious. one of the 5 meals never came out. 2 drinks were forgotten and when we let them know they still blew it. took 30 minutes to have a waiter visit our table and then 1:20 hours to get what food they finally brought out. We will hit every other restaurant on the shore but never come back to this one

Prime Location and literally a few steps to beach. It has very quiet and private layout but you can access the busy area with 5-10 min walk. The rooms are modern and are maintained and the staff are onsite daily to help. Great location for extended stays, I always stay here when I visit. A hidden gem for sure.

As advertised, this hotel is right on the water, and contains a nice restaurant on the premises. However, that is about all that we liked about our single night stay here. The room we had (#14) was reasonably clean, but dark and generally shabby. There was no TV, and the refrigerator was very old. There was also a problem with ants in the room. We wound up going across the street to Hotel Casa Cayena, which was a bit more expensive, but much nicer and more comfortable.

This place has great views and beach access, but the rooms are dingy. The room that we were given didn't have a working AC and the safe didn't work. The staff was not very friendly. After seeing what poor condition the room was in, we went next door to Hotel Casa Valeria. It was just as inexpensive but much cleaner and nicer. However, the restaurant at the Hotel Waterfront is very good. So instead of staying there, I suggest having dinner and taking advantage of the view and a sunset while having a good meal.

+1
Pros: You get an awesomely gorgeous view over the private beach, and access to it through the neighboring resort, avoiding most of the annoyances of being disturbed at sosua beach. Being at the edge of town, its not too trafficky or noisy during the day. The restaraunt is also a huge plus as the food is excellent and you dont have to travel far at all. Breakfast was great, although the bacon tasted kinda funny (maybe cuz its local?), the Dominican lunch was the tastiest I'd had during my whole stay, and I had a great steak dinner special for a nicey price. And having dinner over a nice quiet beach was great!
Cons: Its totally bare bones, but not too bad, depending how picky you are. No AC (i didnt need it), no TV, a ceiling fan (noisy, clicky). I could feel the springs poking through the bed. Seemed clean, but I didnt like walking around the room without slippers. Youre at the edge of town yes, but next to an all inclusive with a guy yelling over a microphone with Shakira blasting while youre tryin to go to bed. They have a pool, but i wouldnt touch it. I had to ghetto-rig the windows shut as most of them didnt have their little stopper pegs attached. Oh... and the reception desk closes early (around 6ish maybe?) and opens when they feel like getting there (sign says 8, but wasnt always the case).
Overall: The great view and having the restaraunt there were the only things that i liked... otherwise, $45 a night was overkill for DR hotel prices.

We have eaten many times over the years at Waterfront, and this year, I would say the food, service and overall experience was excellent. The one thing I recommend is that at sunset (dusk) the mosquito's can get pesky if your down at the railing nearest the beach.
Sit a little closer to the main restaurant seating and there is no problem. This does NOT change the view.
Grilled Sea Bass Filet excellent... Caprese salad fantastic... Great desert.
