The location: Villa Mar Sosua is the hotel closest to the beach, only one minute walk. Additionally, it's just 5 minutes from the Caribe Tours Station. The neighborhood is quiet and the hotel itself is a hidden gem!
The charm: The place is rustic and that makes all its charm! Decorations are all made with natural materials like wood, shells and fabrics.
The only bemol are the bathroom towels. They are very out of use and would need to be replaced.
I'll definitely stay there again!

Sabine is a fabulous host and very knowledgeable. Due to that we managed to go to Cabrera by Guagua, had lovely dinner and a clean room to rest before going to Cabrera. The house is super near to the beach along which you can walk to the centre. The price was fair. The place is in need of some modernization and I feel it has a lot of potential. One thing that drove me insane though was an extremely loud rooster close to the house who started his work far too early. Also the Motos are loud. Still, a friendly place with a lovely café attached where they make you a tasty breakfast and even lunch if you ask.

Villa's location is ideal for the beach (200 yds), coach links, local shopping, money exchange and much more.
Place is kept clean, with ample garden space for relaxing. Secure at night.
Rooms are basic but include everything you'll need and we found Sabine the owner to be very accommodating and helpful. Arranging taxis, info on the area and even phone number for Pizza delivery.
It's not a 5* all inclusive and doesn't pretend to be.
The Villa Mar is a comfortable, safe place to stay, with a "homely" feel to it.The rooms have a safe but we didn't have any concerns about leaving valuables in the rooms.
You will have to buy bottled water for drinking, this is normal in the DR, But the reception have 5 gallon bottles for sale for 50 pesos. We found one was more than enough for 2 weeks.
Internet is very good. And the TV's have Cable with 200+ channels. Most are Spanish but there is a good selection of English. (Ideal for those rainy days)
All in all, a good value for money Aparthotel.
We arrived as customers and left as friends.

This hotel has been renamed to Villa Mar same owner, Sabine Almonte, but is now operated without Winston. It is still inexpensive and it is always possible to have Dominicans in the hotel. Same price for 1 or 4 or 6 in the same room. It is close to the beach and is still close to the local life in Charamicos. Charmicos is still a sleepy little town with no real night life. Worth the money as an upscale local hotel.
