They have a gym called the Gym Box and that's exactly that, a small box and to call it a fitness center; it's too small, if 3 or 4 guest enter then it's already crowded. The hotel's surroundings are beautiful the palm trees, the gardens, it's quite lovely. The clock tower which has no clock and the pool pass by gives a very nice view. The drinks were good nothing new, just the same drinks I have encountered in other hotels. The beach side was amazing, the beach was very clean without seaweed floating around and there are two sides of the beach you can swim, I prefer the right side. The food was good but it was all the same for the 3 days I was there, very Dominican with just a few things that were different, but the most part was all the same. I was disappointed with the restaurant "Á la carte" so much fuss about it and to make the reservation and all that, but for me was not worth it; meagre portions and they just want you to be quick about it. A few of the staff are very polite a kind to you, but for the most of them don't speak to them in English because they don't speak very well the language they're just trying to fend off their way around with the attention and the service the guests are requiring; if you want beer and water your good.
Food was Ok tasted good but quantity was Lacking. We found ourselves going in town to eat as the food was 5 star in town and 3 star on Resort. At the Seafood Restaurant I ordered Crab Cakes. What I got was Two very small Crab Tators.
Pools were very clean and lots of them. We hang out at the Cold Pools on the Cliff most of the time. Which brings me to the Pool Bar by the Cold Pools. The female Bartenders were very slow and very unfriendly. After the first day we walk a little further to the Pool Bar closer to El Batey Restaurant were the Bartenders were funny and out going.
We booked a Deluxe Garden View for the week however when we got there I asked to up grade to Ocean View and it was no problem just give a tip and if they have room its no problem.
The Good: Location and Very Clean
The Bad: Some Staff have bad Attidutes
The Ugly: Food Quality and Quantity ( Mexican was the best and Italian close behind) and the drinks are very Watered Down. We would drink from 10-4 and not get a buzz, go in town and have 2 drinks and have a buzz.

Hotel doesnt have centrally filtered water meaning the only drinkable water is water bottles which the hotel is very stingy with. I called reception for 4 water-bottles and they in return told me that I asked for water to many times.
The theatre in which the shows perform at night, is completely open allowing sound to travel into your hotel room. If you sleep before 11am DON'T COME HERE.
The taxis outside the hotel are very expensive often times charging rates higher than ubers in most Western cities. A trip to downtown puerto plata (nearest city) costs $75 round trip. Even though it takes just 20 min to go there.
Food is timed meaning if your hungry you have to wait for the proper time otherwise your left to starve.
Overall The esthetic of the resort is bery good. This is a resort that is very stingy. I would only come to this resort if you cant travel to cancun.
Booked online for the all inclusive stay with the "garden view".
The "garden view" consisted of old trailers and a walking trail where the workers carry things back and forth through the resort.
Check-in took about 45 minutes with only 4 people working for bringing in a bus load of people. The reception and entire resort is all around very nice looking and renovated. The room was gross. The room had black mould under the sink, on the shower curtains. There was no light in the room and the lamp only worked if I fiddled with the wires near the circuit. The beds had hairs in them when we arrived. Other than the room, the resort was great.
Staff are super friendly, however some are very pushy for a sale. The excursion and massage men were very pushy, I would purposely walk further around them to avoid them. The maids are very sweet. The hotel reception staff are in no hurry to service you. Expect to wait 20+ minutes to even talk to the staff behind the counter.
Wifi "runs out" sometimes so you are forced to buy a more expensive package. Wifi for 1 day on 1 device is $6US dollars.
We went off the resort to go to the currency exchange and multiple locals will come up to you and ask for money. One man staying at the resort got a knife pulled on him when he left the resort. I went during the day and it was very unsafe. Many biker gangs just waiting around for trouble.
Overall, the resort was very nice, food was good. Staff could be more attentive and the room definitely needs a nice upgrade (would be nice to have lights in the room).
I probably wouldn't stay here again but I would come back to Dominican again.
Everything is good or ok - nothing exceptional but the place is very clean, the beach is private, the food is edible.
We just got back in the midst of the corona virus- there was no entertainment or very little during the day.
The major complaint I have with this hotel is that a big part of it is not renovated and it is old!!
The renovated part is nice but it comes as an upgrade. There was mold in our room, our friends found some on their matress. Tiles were cracked, no storage or very little for clothing etc.
The staff was friendly on the resort but at the front desk they were cold.
Oh... wifi comes at a cost and does not work everywhere on the resort- for us we decided to have an offline week :)
If you use the safe, it also comes at a price. Umbrella’s at the beach also have to be bought every day. There are no swim up bars if that is something that is up your alley.
We will not be going there again, had a good time, weather was nice but it could have been better.
Some friends with us are in select not by choice they can not use anything just slwep and leave we can't even go in to knock on their door. We are looking for.alternative resorts in the area as we will have about 20 people next year. Not sure we want to have our friends subjected to this kind of behavior.
