Pleasant place. The location of the hotel is perfect, very close to a beautiful beach, it is practically in the center of the town from where you can reach shops and means of transport. It is clean and the staff are smiling and helpful. Good price.

Room Tip: We had room number 1 right by the pool! Very quiet, colorful. Awesome room for the money.

There's something at the El Ranchero that reminds me of cheap motels I remember from the '70's. There is a tackiness to the place and its cinder block construction that makes me want to rate it lower, but it is really kind of charming. There are colorful bas reliefs everywhere, bright colors break up the monotony and the restaurant is not bad either. I'm giving them a bonus star here for the two white rabbits wandering around the pool area, just waiting to lead the way for Alice when she finally shows up in Sosua.

We stopped in for a family lunch. The waitress suggested roladen. We shared one between us. Generous portion and delicious! Creamed cabbage, coleslaw, yummy mashed potatoes and big roladen.
Nice cold beer. Could have used some more fans blowing but we werent moving around so it was ok. Prices decent.
We looked around and considered staying here next trip.
Free wifi was nice.

I just spent 5 nights at El Rancho and it is nothing to brag about. The food in the restaurant was ok and the rooms are average. Very minimal selection on the cable tv and the wifi would be down daily for hours.

For $5 more I could have stayed across the street with breakfast and dinner included and over 100 cable TV choices. My only reason for stays here was because my first two choices were booked. I would not stay here again.

After a terrible experience at Tampico Angel, formerly known as Sosua Bay Resort, we moved to El Rancho Hotel for the remainder of our trip. We instantly fell in love with the charm of the hotel. For only $50 US, we got a very clean room with A/C and hot water with only 4 minute walk from the beach. The restaurant was delicious and made the most amazing pina coladas. I would have given this place 5 stars but the mattress and pillows weren't that great. I know that the mattress is kind of a big deal but I was able to overlook that when considering the hotel as a whole. I heard that the mattresses across the street at Casa Cayena were better but every time I walked past the building I heard profanity and lots of partying. And, the person who told me that was also staying at El Rancho, so he was able to overlook the mattress as well. Wonderful place and wonderful staff!

I asked many people about this place. Finally I had the courage to go in and try a schnitzel. I was excited UNTIL my oil schnitzel arrived. Seems like the oil was not hot enough and my schnitzel soaked in oil for a while before it fried.

I made a comment about it and I was told, “I will tell the chef”. Bottom line is that it was not the experience in which I expected after having lived en Alemania for 5 years.

👎👎👎👎 Thumbs down. I really wish the owner would read this and welcome me to the schnitzel that everyone raves about. I paid with no fuss, but trust me, I wanted to scream. I even left a tip, just not be the stays quo.

This places fills up and it gets great reviews however one like this should put he chef and establishment on notice!

The overall sleep quality at this hotel was descent the rooms were clean and the water was hot in the morning. The walls are designed in some psychedelic type of theme I'm not sure it was not very appealing . Unfortunately this hotel only allows patrons one guest at a time and is a cash only establishment.
I also was not a fan of the food menu I would recommend going to another location for dining

Loved this beautiful hotel. Well maintained. Hotel El Rancho looked exactly like the pictures on the internet. The food in the restaurants was wonderful. The beach was just a few minutes walk and there was no need for a rental car as everything was within walking distance. All of the staff was very friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had a great time. We enjoyed all of the tours we took. They were very well organized and a lot of fun. I especially liked riding horses on the beach. Will hope to visit again in the future!

Good value for money and a stylish boutique hotel with nicely decorated rooms and cold AC. There are power showers and the pool is well maintained and the gardens are pretty. My room had a great view (stayed there Easter 2014). It is the sister hotel of Casa Valeria which was overbooked so I stayed at El Rancho instead and then walked a 100 yards for my breakfast at Casa Valeria.

So food is available there and not at El Rancho (well that was the case last Easter) but El Rancho is nearer to the beaches so all in all I highly recommend staying there.

Yes but if you are thinking of a chica they must leave cédula at reception upon entering and you must escort her out hotel when she leaves. I might add Carlos is very helpful at reception pertaining to any other questions or concerns.

"All of the rooms that I saw have balconies, I check out 3 rooms, most people would prefer pool side, but noise was not a factor while I was there but the restaurant is poolside, if you go to bed very early or you prefer silence I would ask for a room away from the pool."
