I was annoyed by:
1. the bathroom set up, (I don't care how close we are, I don't want to see/hear/smell your crap)
2. No room service
3. The "membership/timeshare" spiel
4. Lack of alcohol options

That being said, there are some really great things about this place that had me not so worried about the things above.
1. The customer service, was the best service I have experience I've had in a very long time, anywhere.
2. The car service. makes up for not being in the most convenient location. nothing says luxury like being dropped off/picked up everywhere in a black car.
3. The Food. Every all-inclusive I've ever been to has had really crappy food. This place is an exception. Everything I ate was tasty.
4. Overall room comfort. Though I really despise that bathroom, the room is pretty comfortable to be and offers a descent sleep.
5. The crowd. Because this place is a bit more expensive and a little away from the main strip. I didnt see or experience the usual music baring at all times of day, half naked chicas parading, loud talking, weekend warrior crowd.

All and all, I'd stay again.

Not what I expected, the service could have been better. The hostess tried her best to accommodate our needs. I am grateful for that.
It definitely was not the resort experience I am accustomed to. The food was good at Bourbon, at the hotel the menu is limited to what is available and it is the same menu everyday. No room service available.

Ahnvee staff was 90% helpful and excellent for my late October 2017 stay.

1. One staff member in a white jacket was a little rude when I️ asked how to get a pool towel for my towel ticket. He stated he had no idea where the towels were kept while I️ was standing pool side soaking wet. He failed to offer a solution for who would know. Shuttle staff, restaurant staff, security, and front desk were all excellent.

2. The absence of a safe key was poorly remedied with a unsecured safe that could easily be carried away by a thief with a duffel bag. I️ kept my valuables with me for my the 3 days! The desk failed me here.

3. The door frame for room 508 has a 1/2 inch gap that allowed mosquitoes to enter at will. A competent carpenter could seal this easily. It’s really unclear why such a simple matter wasn’t fixed. I️ got bitten several times at night. Turned the air conditioning all the way up & slept under heavy cover! I️ didn’t report this gaping hole!

The place needs better management oversight.

We checking on 11 Feb 2020, room 404. Starting with the bathroom was dirty, mold in the shower, the towels looks a hot mess, no white they look like light gray, very old towels; the pillows on the bed were dirty with make up from who knows when. I just need a place to sleep but this place wasn’t all of that not even for sleeping, the mini refrigerator also had mold 🤦🏽‍♀️. The whole design is a mess is not privacy between the bathroom living area and bedroom, Don’t even wasted your time on this hotel, choose a different one.

The Ahnvee is a beautiful hotel. I liked the fact that it is right on Pedro Ciclante (which appears to be the major thoroughfare in Sosuá) but not in the center of town. It is located right across the street from a great restaurant with a friendly staff and a five minute walk from a seemingly new supermarket. The manager Luis was very friendly and attentive and so were his front desk agents Caroline & another lady whose name I can’t recall right now. The penthouse apartment that I stayed in was scrupulously clean and spacious and the WiFi was excellent. My neighbors were more than friendly and willing to bend over backwards for me as most of them seemed to come from, “Santo Domingo papí...” One front desk agent even hooked me up with a driver who took me to the banco to get pesos and a clinic to get a COVID test so that I could come back to the US. It is definitely designed for a single guy such as myself and it is the only place where I would like to stay in Sosuá.

Just horrible from dirty rooms, dirty sheets, the grounds are run down, my room safe didn't have a key so I couldn't use it, the window lock was broke which left my room unsecured, there was dead bugs in the room, I pre-order a pin house and my room was giving away before I got there, security is no where to be found on property at night and locals are free to roam the property at night. I was supposed to stay a week, but I chose to leave on the second day, and both desk receptionists denied giving me my check out paperwork, which is needed for a refund if you booked 3rd party. I requested a supervisor and was denied that, and this is during business hours. I am a frequent traveler of the world, and this is the worst hotel experience that I have ever experienced. I gave them the benefit of the doubt when I saw all the recent bad reviews online and by travel content creators. Also, another clue when I got there was that the place was nearly completely empty.

Pics are not current. May have been a nice place when first built, but is run down now & they do not do up keep on it. Pools in rooms are nasty & dirty, not filtered like a normal pool, so scum & muck in water. Very dark inside, not brightly lit up like in photos. Just horrible.

When I booked the trip, I had no idea how terrible this place was. The sheets were dirty, along with the whole room. There was a pool in the room, which was also dirty. Also the place is dated, and very run down. I would advise anyone who is looking for a place to stay in Sosua to pass this place up, you can think me later!

My first night at AHNVEE was VERY BAD
and went downhill from there, PLEASE READ ALL TRUTH not one lie. the Jacuzzi rooms i slept in were horrible, i stayed in RM 307 and before I went to bed I saw 3 HUGE COCKROACHES 1 alive and 2 dead on the floor, by the time I woke up there were a total of 5 COCKROACHES , my room was foggy and muggy as hell the mirrors were all wet the floor was soaking wet with about an inch of water everywhere including my luggage everything had condensation from the Jacuzzi and poorly constructed room thats not vented so u have to freeze with the a.c. on all night to help with humidity which is unbearable, I notified staff about the roaches and water and Carlos switched my room to 402 a room that is just as humid just no roaches because they have to spray each room. When I went to 402 I rested for an hour woke up and noticed my sneakers were missing I went back to reception and asked if I can look in room 307 for my sneakers and they were no where to be found in the empty room that's when I realized maintenance or cleaning people had stolen my AIR JORDANS. They showed me bits and pieces of camera footage and a woman toss a bundle of towels I'm not blaming her but I'm blaming the owner for doing nothing about it which he said to me he thought I was lying, the general manager Al that avoided me everytime i saw him, 3 days he dodged me until i left, all I asked was to see more of the video, head of security that must have been protecting the thief/staff person from being exposed, one thing I'm certain of is a good thief will never walk out of a room with my black jordan sneakers in his hand knowing there are visible cameras on the wall. Carlos and the head of maintenance are the only ones who gave a damn but can't do much due to bad conditions which start with ownership and poor mgmt, when they switched my room my bed and pillows were damp smelled like mold. My toilet had to be plunged daily because water kept overflowing without me using it. Jacuzzi water is either extremely hot or extremely cold, and the water is brown disgusting and not clean. The website and pics is one thing but to visit is a whole different experience. This was like staying at a truck stop motel quality experience, i. Heard others complaining about the pool in the pool rooms, my friends shower did not work. The food destroyed my stomach when i got back to America. Wifi was not always working so i couldnt dial, text , use whatsapp no contact to anyone in America all night. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place to a tourist with standards. IT IS NOT PARADISE YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR .They hire thieves and anyone that will work for cheap then cover up theft and offer no resolution. I know you can edit camera clips because I own an audio recording and film company. I Never use the term 3rd world country because I am from an island but this resort is bad it just has a nice website don't be fooled. Maybe there is better treatment at another resort but this place as they say NO BUENO.

STAFF: Super-friendly! great staff!

FOOD: By far the best food I ever had in resort in Puerto Plata! Five stars!

DRINKS: Again, the best by far, they use good liquors to mix the drinks, national brands, but good ones, and they mix very good drinks, I would say the best in Puerto Plata!

ROOMS:

Jacuzzi: there is no jacuzzi, it is like a small pond build inside the room, you can not control anything, you can not flush the water or turn on/off the water pump, all of that is done by the staff from the outside, then that leads to another problem, the pond is inside the room, there is an AC on the room, the water is freezing, it is not usefull at all! they can not put warm water inside, there is no option for that. The same applies for the swiming pool room, freezing water due to the AC. / Bar on the room: ridiculous, there is nothing to do with that. / Toilets and shower: be prepare to seat and have a dump in fronto of the people that are in the room with you, there is no wall no nothing to cover you on the shower nor the toilet.

Penthouse room: Big room, two levels, real hot tub, comfortable bed, but there is a big problem, big glass windows without any curtains, impossible to sleep after 6:00 am if you are sensible to light while sleeping.

Facts:

BEACH: There is no beach by the hotel, you will need to walk 15 minutes to get to the closest one, but they also offer free transportation on a comfortable SUV, and you just need to call the hotel for them to pick you up, but, it means that there is no service for you in the beach, not hotel facilities, not chairs, not umbrellas.

Dont get fooled by the name "Resort and sports" there is no sports going on, not even chess.

In all the resorts I have been, after you check out they allow you to stay in their facilities if you want too for a few more hours, you have no acces to any room but since check out is at noon, what people usually do is to have lunch before leaving, here you can not do that, you check out at noon you have to leave at noon.
