Stayed this resort with low expectations, and while it did surprise me in some ways, there were enough issues to make me question if I’d return. Let’s start with the positives: the area *looks* a little sketchy at first glance, but it’s actually quite nice once you settle in. The vibe is laid-back, and the staff (for the most part) are friendly and accommodating.

Now, onto the not-so-great stuff. The furniture in the rooms is *very* dated—like, Ikea 2001. The bedding was a nightmare. The pillows were dirty and rough, and the sheets felt like they hadn’t been updated since the resort was new. I ended up using a shirt as a pillowcase because I just couldn’t deal. Note that cell coverage is limited and the rooms do not have phones in case of an emergency.

Parking was another headache. The lot is way too small with no assigned spots, so people don't block you in; additionally, the staff does not track who is in the park, so it can be impossible to find the driver. They also lock the gate; if no one is there to open it in the morning, you are out of luck. If you’re driving here, be prepared for a parking battle royale.

The restaurant situation was... questionable. They advertised red snapper on the menu, but when I ordered it, it was clearly tilapia. I asked the cook and a couple of staff members, and they admitted that the owner knows about the bait-and-switch and doesn’t care. Not cool. If you’re going to charge premium prices, at least serve what you promise. Oh, and speaking of the restaurant—it’s cash-only unless you want to pay a *much* higher price to use a credit card. It felt like a sneaky way to squeeze more money out of guests.

The owner, who apparently lives in Florida (not local at all), was another issue. I had questions and called the USA number, and when he answers, he acts like you are bothering and is rash, forceful, and clearly more interested in upselling me than taking care of the customer.

One more thing—don’t come here expecting a beachfront paradise. The beach is a bit of a hike, so it’s not exactly convenient if you’re dreaming of stepping right onto the sand from your room.

All in all, this place has potential, but it needs some serious updates and better management. If you can overlook the flaws, it’s not a bad stay—just don’t expect luxury, and be prepared for some shady practices.

This is the 8th time we’ve stayed. It feels like our Caribbean home! We enjoy the freedom we have to either cook in our kitchen, eat at the bar/restaurant or go into Cabarete for a meal. The staff here work hard and always greet everyone with “Buenos Dias” We appreciate the option to pay weekly for the shuttle service into Cabarete and have never had to wait long, especially when we give a heads up via WhatsApp. In Cabarete we’ve eaten great food at very reasonable prices! Cabarete Coffee Company for lunch, Bliss (wow!) and Mesa Taina at Kite Beach (LOVE the Godzilla) From El Cabarete Hotel, this time we went to Ocean World in Puerto Plata and Laguna Gri Gri in Rio San Juan for a 1.5-2 h boat ride through the lagoon to Cueva de Las Collondrinas. We will be back to further explore & enjoy the beautiful, friendly Dominican Republic.

Thank you to our family at the El Cabarete for a beautiful vacation!!

We arrived in Cabarete on a Thursday night with no hotel reservations. Nothing we were finding on the apps looked like a good value. The places we stopped into didn't seem right either. As we left town to the East my son spotted this place on the GPS and we went to check it out. Once we looked around and met the staff we knew this place was for us.

The rooms are clean, spacious and secure. The air conditioning was perfect and adjustable by remote, the hot water was hot and there was a full kitchen. The bed was remarkably comfortable as were the pillows. The rooms were above what I expected for the price in Cabarete.

The pool area is a very unique rectangular design with an island in the middle and four individual jacuzzies on the side, however the water isn't heated and in December it was a little too chilly for me- but I'm from Florida. The dining area includes a bar and seats located on the island inside the surrounding pool. There is also a pool table with seating next to the dining area.

There is a beach you can walk to from the hotel but it takes around 10 minutes, better to drive if you have a car. The hotel is in an area around 1 mile East of the center of town where you'll find the party scene and the beach filled with people. The beach near the hotel was empty, but there weren't any chairs or services and the water was very rough with lots of driftwood- we didn't stay long.

We decided to purchase an all-inclusive meal package at the hotel and were very satisfied with the food. Everything was made to order from a very extensive menu. I had a French Onion soup that was delicious, several salads and lots of shrimp cocktails. Main courses included beef, chicken, seafood and vegetarian options.

The staff at the hotel were unbelievably professional and helpful. Luke, the Manager deserves a special mention for going out of his way to make sure my family had a great stay. At one point during our stay we had the pleasure of speaking with the owner of the hotel by phone (he was traveling off the island); he also went out of his way to make sure our needs were addressed. All of the other employees were kind and attentive.

The power did go out momentarily, but the hotel's generator quickly turned on and powered everything including the air conditioning.

No question that next time we're in Cabarete we will be back to stay here.

The resort was disappointing. It looks nothing like it does online. It really needs a deep clean. Pool needs to be cleaned and fixed. Cabanas were non existent. They had a few beach chairs that have seen better days. Food was hit or miss, chef needs to use seasoning and realize that parsley does not need to go in every dish! They have a brochure with different dinner theme nights but out of a week stay they only did the theme one night which was disappointing.

I met a vendor at the bar, I told him that I would come back down to look at his merchandise in a few hours but fell asleep. They gave this man my room number! Its bad enough that they give you a wristband with your key and room number visible to others (that I had to hide) but that definitely didn't make me feel safe especially as a solo female traveler.

The upside were the bartenders Isiah and Lenny. They were amazing and did what they could to make this a pleasant stay. They kept the drinks, food and music flowing! They were the only reason that I didn't check out earlier. This isn't to say that the staff was rude because they tried but the language barrier was hard. I only ran into two employees that spoke english and they were the guy at the front desk and the bartender Isiah during my stay which caused me to have to track them down when I needed something because no one else understood. Although Lenny didn't speak english I love that she went out her way to try to communicate with me to make sure that I was taken care of.

The employees here are fantastic. The room I had on the “new” side was small, but clean. I was hoping to be on the “Spanish/older” side because I read that it was quiet, but there were no rooms available. The place itself was ok. Pool area can be very noisy. I do have an issue with payments. You have to pay $160 usd to check in. 25+tax for cleaning. 99+tax for “facilities”. There are no facilities. The fitness room was closed. The beach is at least 10 minute walk, and is not very big. I ate at the restaurant/bar twice. Pizza listed at 350 pesos was charged 595 pus 18% tax. Hamburger listed at 450, was charged 595 plus tax. I wish I knew Spanish better because there is a big communication gap. They did have a hurricane that the island is still trying to recover from. I’m trying to temper this because I’m used to Aruba and Cabo. This is still a very beautiful place to visit. Over all it was an acceptable place to stay.

The resort staff are very friendly and they do the max to make you feel welcome. The hotel is not luxurious, but it is very pleasant. It is a small place and the atmosphere is very quiet, you sleep well, and the food in the restaurant is very tasty and the price of food and drinks is good. The workers are very friendly.

This is place absolutely a junk hole. I booked this place for a full week and ended up staying one night only. The rooms are disgusting: stain in couch, towels stained, cabinets not secured on the walls, sheets had holes, there was sand all over the kitchen as it was not cleaned before we got there. They advertise free internet but they try charging you when you get there. The towels were ripped, and i could go on and on. The worst part is that one of their employees broke my car and no one took responsibility for it. This place is in the middle on nowhere!!! Its scary just getting there, and don't let them fool you with the "private beach" is a junk!!! Worst experience ever. Management I dealt with was Ben and Luc.

The resort is located in a county community, which we really liked. The rooms were clean and mostly updated. The beds were comfortable w/ multiple pillows. The storage in the bathroom cabinet was minimal however extra storage was available in the bedroom. Only compliant about the room was the bar top was loose in our unit. We didn't have to use the fridge or the gas range. We purchased the all inclusive package and enjoyed the food and drinks. we were supplied w/ one bottled water each, which we refilled by water coolers around the resort. The Jacuzzis were not heated as expected which was a big disappointment for us and others. The staff was friendly and helpful, at times no staff was present at the front desk and communications barriers were present. Staff were amazing at working with us to understand our English and our limited French/Spanish to answer our questions and needs. The fire pit was relaxing in the back corner of the resort. The fitness center was available and could use an update. The private beach was not far away and in our opinion not very safe for swimming. The best beaches are Sosuo or Cabarete which a shuttle is available for transport a few times a week. The extra excursions were well organized and setup with comfortable transportation and meal. The bikes available were not really in working condition per staff only one was working. The four wheeler was not in working condition for use. Lastly the hour massages, were great and one was cut to 30 minutes which was disappointing. Overall, we give a high rating for this resort and staff and encourage updates for future visits/guests. Our party of four would most likely visit the area again.

We had a nice time at the resort. Everything was very clean, inside & out. It attracts some wonderful people from all over the world and the resort makes it easy to get to know others. There is adequate parking and it is in a quiet area outside of busy Cabarete. The food was good and we enjoyed the quietness of the area. One night, they organized a pig roast for all the guests (at an additional fee), which was fun. The nearby beach is mostly deserted and beautiful.

On the downside, the rooms and kitchen were a bit smaller than hoped, it slept 3 of us fine, but don't know how 4 would fit as advertised. The power went out 3x in a week, not related to weather: once for 3-4 hrs over bedtime, another on a Saturday morning (incl water), another for 6 hours. Generators then powered the rest of the hotel, but didn't support the rooms, which was frustrating. The common area music sometimes played until 11 PM at night and with thin walls, it was easy to hear. Luckily, we had a loud white noise machine. The walk to the beach was much further than anticipated and though safe, it didn't feel it the first time we walked it. There was some very friendly staff and some not so friendly staff.

Overall good, we had a good time with just a few bumps.

Downtown Cabarete is 3km from the hotel. The shuttle transports every hour on the hour. Yes, there is a fee. However, it is free to take you to the private beach. You can walk to downtown cabarete, it is about a 25 minute walk from the resort. The hotel has activities such as: pool table, poker room, horse shoe game, fire pit, mountain bikes, private cabanna with jacuzzi and more!
