Velero Beach Resort was the first luxury Cabarete hotel to be built and the visionary architect chose the best location on the entire beach to build. Our grounds are sheltered from the wind for the non-windsurfers, but 5 meters into the water the windsurfer or kiter will have access to the trade winds. Velero Beach Resort is the only one of the Cabarete hotels to have a small reef right out front that forms shallow tidal pools at low tide. These are perfect for the toddlers to play in protected from the waves. Our restaurant is also the only one in Cabarete that is directly on the water for perfect sunsets!
Star ratings are intended to indicate the general level of features, amenities, and services to expect. This property is classified according to Giata.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.

The Cabarete atmosphere is laid back and you will see a mix of tourists and locals. This resort is walking distance to all the restaurants/bars (literally on the sand) in Cabarete beach. The resort only includes breakfast at their restaurant, but the menu has a good variety. We also had lunch and dinner there and the food was very good. They also have happy hour, so don't miss out on that while your poolside. The resort is relatively quiet meaning no loud music (just maybe some low music in the background for atmosphere). This resort is to get away and relax, but if you do what to do something, they have pamphlets in the reception area with info about excursions you can do. There is also a place on the main strip where the restaurants/bar are where you can get more info on excursions. Note that the resort has beach are just in front of it that when we've gone in December and May its underwater, but in September it's a really nice sanding beach. This is not a big deal though since when its underwater you just walk out to the main street and head towards the restaurants to cut through one of them to get to the beach. I have found vacationing in this area is very affordable. This just one of the many places to visit in DR. The island is beautiful.

We love this place and we feel at home every time we arrive. This is 100% due to the fabulous staff that always have a smile and want to help you with whatever you need. We’ve been coming here for 4-5 years now and can’t think of anyplace else we’d rather stay. The view, onsite restaurant and bar, walking distance to many restaurants, bars, bakeries and a grocery store. You will never be disappointed! On our last day, I made a list of staff names because they so deserve recognition!
Whether it was breakfast, lunch or an afternoon/late evening cocktail these fine people are always there. I couldn’t get everyone but please know your efforts are always noticed.
Thank you for everything you do! Look forward to seeing you all in 2025.

My husband and I stayed at the Valero for a month with our 5 month old, and could not have been happier. The pool was a perfect escape from the heat, the ocean was close for a quick dip, the restaurant served us great food (love those cheap drinks of the day!), the grounds were immaculately kept, and we felt safe and supported! The staff was lovely and quick to help us with anything we needed (fresh towels, new water jugs, more drinks of the day, etc.). We also felt very safe considering it's covid times - the staff wore masks 100% of the time and everything seemed clean.
The location was also great - it's a 3 minute walk from the best grocery store in town and just a quick jaunt on the beach to the main drag. We loved being close to the action to feel included, but far enough a way to feel like we weren't in the thick of it. This was a perfect getaway with our infant - I'd highly recommend it to anyone!

Excellent location and value for money. The views are incredible and the gardens and common areas are very well maintained. I have stayed 2 times and I will surely return again. Breakfast is very good and a la carte and the restaurant has very good food and at a fairly reasonable price.

Beautiful resort and very well priced, breakfast was included & great! I also enjoyed lunch & dinner at The Sunset Grill, food was cooked to order & delicious! The location was perfect. Quite & a short walk to a Beautiful Beach lined with restaurants, bars, coffee shops etc. Lounge chairs on the Beach. My room was lovely, comfy & clean with service daily. Large Balcony, beautiful ocean & pool view! Jr. Suite. (I do wish they would put Blackout Curtains in the bedroom). The reception team was very helpful and professional shout out to Juan! Mario, poolside server was excellent! I already booked my next visit. Love this place!

I stayed at the resort for a weekend. Property itself is cleaned, but there were no steps to go down to access the beach, which is an inconvenience for older people. Light went off on the first night. I left my son's sandals at the pool to go to the beach and when we returned they were gone. They put us in a room on the second floor with a non working air conditioner. We were moved up to the third floor, but we had to carry the luggage upstairs. They did not leave us enough towels. I reported the issue to the front desk and they told me that I had to go to the front desk and pick up additional towels because they were short staffed. There were issues with the phones so every time i needed something I had to walk down to the front office from the third floor. Breakfast was good ad the price fr the food was reasonable at the restaurant.

I stayed at the Velero Beach Resort in June 2024. I've now stayed at 7 hotels and resorts in the Dominican Republic in the last 19 months. The Velero Beach Resort is my favorite of them all. I think the biggest difference is how much better and larger the shower was. A beautiful large walk in shower with water pouring from multiple angels. I wish I had that shower back home in Ohio. The large two sink bathroom was nice too. The room had high ceilings and plenty of drawers and hanger space. The balcony was also very spacious and had a big beautiful view of the "palm tree" walkway, the pool, and the ocean. I read negative reviews about there not being any entertainment. YES, that's the beauty of Velero Beach Resort. It's quiet and semi private. The pool and the view from it looking out into the ocean is perfect. The food is average compared to what you get from other places. The few negatives would include there not being a beach connected to the ocean. Also, the spiral staircase to my room on the 3rd floor was not easy to carry luggage. Use the resort help and tip him for the difficult trek.

Dear guest, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! 🌴✨ We’re thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us, especially the spacious room, high ceilings, and our unique walk-in shower experience — we agree, it’s hard to beat! Your appreciation for the peace and quiet we offer really warms our hearts, as we take pride in being a serene retreat for our guests. It’s great to know that you loved the ocean views from our pool, and we truly appreciate your understanding of the more secluded atmosphere. We also acknowledge the few challenges you faced, and we’re glad our team was able to assist you with the luggage to make the experience smoother. Due to natural seasonal changes, the ocean and sand shift throughout the year, which sometimes affects the amount of beachfront available. We appreciate your understanding and will continue to ensure our guests enjoy the best of what our location has to offer year-round. Once again, thank you for sharing your feedback and for your kind words. We hope to welcome you back soon for another relaxing escape by the ocean! Warm regards,

Property seems very clean and well maintained. Very close to nice beaches and restaurants however the hotel beach is not good at all. I have not yet had a chance to enjoy the pool but writing this review mainly because sleep is very important to me and I’ve been awake since 3am due to the bed being extremely hard and the pillows being flattened. Just want to make any travelers alert that these beds are like sleeping on rocks.

Dear guest, Thanks for having chosen our hotel for your stay in Cabarete. We also greatly appreciate the time you have taken to provide us with this valuable feedback. We are very sorry to hear that you didn’t have a great sleep experience at our hotel. We understand how important it is for travellers to enjoy a good rest at night. Thus we've taken necessary measures and we're currently in process of changing all bed mattresses in our hotel rooms. We hope this improvement will have a positive effect on every future guest's experience at Velero Beach Resort. Because our mission is to provide excellent services and make our customers happy. As for the beach, it's possible that winter swell might have changed its look and comfort. After all, the nature and ocean are so amazing and unpredictable so we don't seek to have control over it. Right now in summer our beach with flat waters is just perfect for sun bathing and open water swimming. We hope that you will visit us in the future and we won't let down your expectations that time. Kind regards,

This is my 3rd visit. 1st was breakfast. 2nd was dinner. 3rd was another dinner. Breakfast was good. This is the only restaurant in Cabarete that has free coffee refills, everyone else charge for the next cups. Cordon blue chicken was great. Do not order steak. Not even close to AppleBees.
Service is great. Restaurant has a nice view of the ocean.

Stayed a few weeks in a Junior Suite on the ground floor, equipped with basic kitchenette and fridge. Great location for grocery shopping and proximity to the Cabarete Beach scene and bars and restaurants. Also the perfect spot to windsurf and wingfoil close by Velero (200m) on Cabarete beach. KItesurfers are farther downwind so it's not so busy. Velero has a nice patio and pool right on the water edge. Staff was friendly, the restaurant and bar were handy and good. The room was secure and very quiet. Amenities were OK,we had to buy our own egg flipper, and a few basics that we left behind. It could use a few more pots and pans. We will come back to Velero for sure.

Actually, they do have a small beach between the pool and the ocean (management has a photo with some blue chairs lined up by a short retaining wall - very true liking). The hotel grounds are a bit elevated, so there is a short retaining wall and three steps down to the beach. And miles of beach walking to either side of the hotel. Just have to go over some rocks (or swim) if you want to go to the left. I'm a beach person myself, but I loved this set-up. You are three steps up from the beach, so have a luxury of a great view and fancy beds and yet very close to the ocean and the sand if you wish to. We had no trouble having chairs down on the sand for a while and then coming back up. If you happen to be there during local holidays with hundreds of locals coming down to the beach (they are all public in Dominican), you'll really appreciate the option of being close to the ocean yet up within your resort, away from the crowd. There is a security guard usually standing at the stairs to the beach. They have an infinity pool overlooking the ocean, too, which makes it really nice... Gorgeous setting and very convenient. It gives you an option/ best of both worlds.
