Only stayed one night and that was enough, the place is very run down and tired, the toilet didn't work, the shower didn't work, a/c only worked from 8 til 10 in the morning??? If I was paying a cheap price I could accept this but it's expensive for what you get, the plus side is the free breakfast that...

Chetumal is not a place tourists stay, in general. It is somewhere to layover for onward travel to Belize, Guatemala, and beyond. Years ago I spent a day or 2 here to check it out, though there are other places in Mexico that are much more interesting in which to stay. After a short search online, I found La Posada...

The good: Helpful and friendly staff, she understands English although she has a little difficulty understanding my accent. Very slow printer but at least there is a printer to print your itemized flight ticket receipts which is necessary to avoid double paying the tourist tax if you flew into Mexico and are leaving Mexico. The bad: Got downgraded from private...

Was travelling in the off season and arrived late and ended up having the whole place to myself at no extra expense. It's a genuine family run place, no frills but very friendly, helpful and relaxed. well located for the airport too.

The hostel is far from the ADO-busterminal, as well as from the town-center and buses to Belize (+25min on foot, Taxi M$50.-). Rooms are reasonably clean. Beds too. One bathroom for +10 people is not enough, though. It's clean and only the shower smells a bit. But not as bad as other people experienced. Wifi works and is stable. The...

We stayed here on a whim before continuing to Tulum for a few nights in a private room, and as a whole, our stay was good. The lady (owner i presumed) there helped up on arrival by settling a dispute with a taxi driver (who had lied to us and essentially tried to take us into the country illegally...!!), and...

I stopped in Chetumal because it was a convenient base to cross into Belize and I needed to do some shopping. I thus stayed only one night at La Posada Chetumal Hostel and it was sweet. The staff is really helpful, I had many questions and the lady answered them all. She also gave a friend and me a recommendation...

We stayed here for a couple of nights as it is very close to the Belize border. The owners was very lovely and sorted out a problem we had with a taxi driver. They have a shared kitchen that is extremely well equipped and very large. Although there is a lot of ants in this hostel, it is generally clean...

Planning on staying 1 quick night, stayed 2 simply because of warm welcome and not feeling like chain tourist for a bit. The owner is very friendly and helpful. Speaks spanish, french and english. There is a home feel to it which was refreshing. Big dorm with big windows lots of air. Simple and nice.

“When I stayed it was so quiet I had a six bed dorm to myself! No A/C in the dorms so I avoided the ten bed room (it's easily big enough to cope with ten!) in case the sun beating in through the window made it too hot for me in the evenings!”
