When we arrived in the middle of the night we were pleased to find we could go straight to our room and sort out all the paperwork in the morning. The accommodation was just what we wanted. A private thatched bungalow to ourselves, with a plunge pool, hammock and day bed outside. Proper shutters kept the sun out fantastically well...

We just came back from one of the most fun vacations ever. Since I am a sucker for thatched roof cottages, when I found Explorean Kohunlich with its thatched roof bungalows, I had to book it. We flew into Cancun & rented a car. Chetamul is a 5 hr drive so we spent a night at Akumal (one of our...

We stayed at Explorean Kohunlich for 7 nights and had a fantastic time there. We loved the location deep in the Mayan Jungle and it was an easy 1 hr drive from Chetumal Airport and good roads. The Lodge is beautiful and the natural setting felt special. We had Villa #20 with King Bed and it felt very private since...

Amazing service and love the isolated location. Great place to go and explore nature and ruins for a bit of adventure but then arrive and relax. Go there and enjoy it before it gets discovered by the masses. It's a truly special place.

We really enjoyed a 4 night stay at the Explorean. A couple things to know: there are no TVs on the premises, there is wifi near the restaurant and large public areas, and very limited cell service. That was fine for us. The rooms are clean and neat, and the food and the rest at this all inclusive resort is...

The Explorean Experience. It doesn’t get any better than this. In the middle of the jungle in a modern room with a palapa roof. Self-service bar (really), and wonderful food prepared with great presentation. Blended drinks can be order and will be prepared in the dining area. Drinks can be ordered anywhere in the dining room, lounge or pool area...

Our room was a jungle bungalow with a patio and a hammock. We took daily excursions to bike, kayak, hike, swim in cenotes, or rapel. We had the absolute feeling that we had our own personal staff! The food was tremendous and everyday was an adventure and a surprise. Only one main area had internet access and that was just...

I booked this hotel without suspecting I'd fall in love with the place, it's many little details and surprises, the food, nature, the mayan ruins, the adventures and the amazing people who work there and make all the magic happen. It is absolutely recommendable. A must for anyone's and everyone's bucket list.

Small hotel deep in the southern Mexican jungle bordering Belice. Friendliest service ever. The staff will touch their hearts with their hand and smile and bow every time they say hello. (A custom we are trying to hold on to). There is only one pool, one restaurant, and a small self service bar open all the time. No menus. You...
