We stayed at the Picturebook for one night during a road trip around Northern Thailand. I travel frequently to Mae Sot for work and colleagues had recommended this guest house. Staff (who are in a hospitality training program) are friendly and helpful, the rooms were spotlessly clean, comfortable beds, great AC, fridge, and reliable WiFi. I’ve previously stayed at the Centara, and the staff here and experience far exceeded what I’ve had there! There was a bustling night market 200m from the hotel, and you’re a short distance to the Robinson/mall if you need to stock up before your next stop. Will be glad to stay here again in the future.

Wonderful place, pleasant mood.
Clean rooms. Good breakfast.
Staff is very kind, with good knowledge of English language. They are refugees from Myanmar; in general there is high attention to the social aspects of running a business

I stayed at The PictureBook guesthouse for 2 nights - because they were so busy I had to move from the standard room on night 1 to the deluxe the 2nd night 600/800baht .... To be fair I think the standard room is perfect and no need for the deluxe (only difference is TV and DVD player). The whole guesthouse and grounds were perfect, rooms were clean and the most comfortable beds, breakfast was great so was coffee (inc in price) and the staff were amazing! Special thanks to Ing who made a few phone calls to various guest house / mini vans / taxis for my onward journey. I wish I could take the picturebook guest house and the staff with me everywhere I travel!!!!

Stay here of you are in the area. Its a great concept, helps develop skills of the locals who seem to have crafted, built and operate everything as a kind of junior apprenticeship. Modern, clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is great. Its reasonably priced, clean with AC. The breakfast is delicious and the staff are polite and helpful. The best part about this place is that it provides an opportunity to Burmese youth to gain vocational and other skills.

Calm, relaxing and quiet! PictureBook guesthouse was the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of Mae Sot! It was a tranquil little place to relax, sleep, get some much needed work completed and enjoy great food only minutes from the busy life of the border town of Mae Sot. A few friends and I stayed here for a few nights to decompress from some work events, and we loved it! Clean rooms, great A\C and comfortable beds. Gorgeous landscaping with trees, flowers and water fountains. I will definitely be booking another room here when coming to Mae Sot. Incredibly friendly staff and service was amazing. Thanks PB guesthouse, can’t wait to visit again.

I chose this place based on the reviews on TA - overall I thought it was very good although I can't rave about it in quite the same way as other reviewers have here!

I stayed in the Map Room which is very nice - I liked the maps and atlases and travel books and the room itself is very big and comfortable although the soundproofing isn't great - to be honest I found it noisier than if I'd been staying in a hotel in central Bangkok: the guests next door, the dogs, the rooster, the incredibly noisy family in the house behind the guest house - I guess this is normal in the Thai countryside but it definitely wasn't peaceful. Also, the Map Room is directly opposite the reception area and this could be a bit noisy too with staff and guests chatting and playing cards in the evening. A room at the other end of the block might be quieter.

The staff were nice, especially the manager, Ing, although there are a lot of different people working here - seemed to be a different person every time I went to reception! All were helpful and at least spoke basic English apart from one very sweet but frankly clueless young man who was manning the reception one evening when the Internet went off - he couldn't speak a word of English and had no idea that to make it work again it just had to be turned off and on again.

The breakfast was fine and served with a smile - one suggestion though: please take the butter out of the fridge in advance as it was like trying to spread an ice cube onto the toast.

The location is pretty good - about a 10-minute walk to the big Robinson shopping mall.

In summary, a nice place which is doing a great job in training young Burmese people from across the border - just wish it had been a bit quieter!

we booked for three nights but moved on after one, the hotel was mainly filled with middle to older spinsters, who I sure found the delightful gardens relaxing and pleasant

the guesthouse is very difficult to find it does not appear to show its location anywhere on the internet, maybe intentional as it is off the beaten track

we inquired of eating places with a walks distance and were told there were none most were at the other end of town

we asked for a local map there were none

We choose accommodation first of all for the room, here the rooms were tastefully done on a budget, the floor was painted concrete but too many small bugs on it, the air conditioning worked but was in the wrong location, the fan helped a little

Do not arrive by car the parking is on the lane very limited, almost impossible to turn

breakfast very tightly rationed even the juice was extra as was another piece of toast or a second cup of coffee

price expensive compared with competition, same price as J2 hotel with bigger and better rooms unlimited breakfast, and a very nice car park

Guess where we moved to check out reviews on J2

We're so so happy that we found this wonderful little gem of a guest house on our honey moon,Patrick and his wife Nok were just brilliant as were all the staff ,friendly, courteous, helpful (Patrick even went to the local shop to get me my favorite beer)what more can a man ask.The guest house itself is a piece of art from the moment you arrive to see the wonderful bicycle sculpture and artistic walkways to the rooms all of which are decorated to an individual theme, fantastic i can't recommend it highly enough.
Thank you Patrick and all your staff for a great few days we'll be back.
