This place was an absolutely amazing. I stayed with a group that has been staying here for years and I understand why. The rooms are beautiful and the host is amazing. The rooms are also very clean. It has a great location near local shops and restaurants.

If you’re booking this location it is a guest house. There are large fridges in each of the rooms and you have access to a fully equipped (and clean) kitchen. There are both air conditioned and non-air conditioned rooms based on what your budget is. The WiFi works great. There are people who stay at the guest house for long periods of time so it feels like a nice community.

If you are looking for a home away from home Ban Thai in Mae Sot is definitely the place to go. I can’t wait to go back next year!

We had the expensive bungalow for $32/night...kids wete in guest house with shared bathroom for less than $10/night...no food service here...so prepare your own or go to casa mia...Staff friendly and English speaking...get a bike ($1/day) or scooter to get around town. Would stay there again.

In the rather shabby town of Mae Sot this guest house is a nice surprise. Very stylishly decorated, spotless bedding with good beds and ample space to lounge and eat with comfortable chairs. Various prices to suit most budgets, lots of greenery and very good bathrooms. A kitchen for guests use is well equipped and a nearby Thai restaurant , Mai Thai, very good value. Atmosphere is cool, quiet and casual and helpful info re ongoing travel is available. The traditional wooden building is my sort of place and a bookshelf of books a bonus. I didn't try the menu as food is ordered and then brought in from a neighbouring restaurant and it was easier to goto a restaurant.
All in all a well run and pleasant place to stay.

We stayed in a guest room the 1st night. Then moved to a bungalow (separate house). The rooms were nice and clean, so was the house. Spacious, nice porch to hang out on. We enjoyed our stay here. Location is next to town, renting a scooter is a must have to get around.
Only downside is that the cozy little resort lacks a swimmingpool.

I'm staying in Mae Sot for 2.5 months and chose to stay here because my friend recommended it. Depending on how much money you are willing to spend, you can decide what kind of room you'd like.
One option is the bedroom (spacious) where you have a shared washroom. Everything is cleaned every day and you get a new towel from the staff every day. It is very clean.

Another option (for a higher price) is this mini-condo where you have an air-con room, your own washroom, and a living room with a separate door. And it is quite luxurious.

Both options are amazing and what is great about this place is that if you're staying for a long time, you can get a discount. Also, there is a shared kitchen with a stove and fridge so you can cook your own meals and feel even more at home.

The staff are some of the loveliest people I have ever met and will take care of you if you ever need anything. I definitely recommend this place.

Loved staying here, fantastic place with friendly staff!
I stayed here for a month whilst volunteering in Mae Sot and it was perfect for me. Clean, cheap rooms in a good location made for a very comfortable stay, the owner (Than) is lovely and always very helpful speaking great english.
My only complaint is the wifi can be a bit suspect, not great for face-timing home, netflix ect. I often had to sit outside my room and it would often cut out.
Overal I had a great stay here, would definitely recommend it for anyone coming to work as an NGO or volunteer in Mae Sot.

I have over the last 8 years often gone to Mae Sot on the Thai-Burma border to teach Burmese refugees in a university course. I stayed once in an awful hotel and then discovered the Ban Thai, a collection of wooden houses placed in a luxuriant garden. The style is comfortable but simple - some rooms have air conditioning but I always choose one with a fan. I have just come back from there where we had temperatures of over 41 degrees so some cooling system is necessary. The manager, Thant, is a mine of information for taxis, places to go and eat. There is a brilliant restaurant, specialising in food from the North-east of Thailand, the Mai Thai, run by a single woman with two kids and a mother in the lane leading to the guesthouse. Thant is Burmese so he can also tell you how to assist the many Burmese refugees in the area or migrants working in the Mae Sot area. I always sleep very well here but am sometimes woken up by a Buddhist monk chanting which is the gentlest awakening you can have. There is nowhere quiet like the Ban Thai. Highly recommended.

I have been a regular to Mae Sot for the past 10 years. Ban Thai is a gem, not just for Mae Sot but I hardly found a nicer place for the same rates in Thailand. This small guest house is located in Intarakeere Road and it is only a couple of km from the Bus station. It is a bit hard to find because it is tucked away at the end of a small dirt road but it is worth to make an effort to find it. It is managed by a lovely Burmese guy named Thant. Beside welcoming warmly to the place he can provide you any source of information you need about Mae Sot. The Guesthouse is in a beautiful quite garden and offer a mix of wooden bungalows and rooms all of which offer a nice porch with a nice view over the garden. The rooms rate vary from 300 to 1000 baht, they are pretty large, very well designed and very clean. This is a very popular place within Mae Sot regulars, so you need to book in advance if you wanna stay here.

First of all the place is incredibly nice.
The have different kind of rooms or bungalows depending on your budget.
They are all clean, well decorated and with a very good bed and a nice bathroom.
The furniture is very pretty and all rooms are well decorated.
There is also a kitchen for common use.

The best part of it was that when we started talking about us crossing the border to Myanmar,
The manager ( Birman ) gave us an introduction to Birman language and helped us with all questions about the border crossing.
He also helped us on any questions regarding Myanmar Kyat and dollars needed for Myanmar.
Last but not least, if you´re interested in some volunteering he can help you out as well.
