Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have stayed at BJC several times over the years and always come back. I love the sounds of the birds in the surrounding trees, the wonderful water way just out the back, and the very short walk, less than 2 minutes to the Bardia National Park entry, as well as 10 minutes from the main village centre.

The rooms are very spacious and very reasonably priced with ceiling fans, mosquito nets, fly screens on the windows, large bathrooms with hot showers, clean sheets and towels.

The staff are humble and kind, and they use traditional cooking methods to prepare our meals.

It is so peaceful, and the animal sounds during the night are magical and I always leave feeling relaxed.

They also arrange airport jeep transfer and jungle safaris on foot or in a vehicle. It’s definitely worth staying here for your stay in Bardia.

I always love bringing my friends and family to Bardia and the jungle cottages are simple and have all that you need for a comfortable stay. Such a convenient location to the park and very good value for money. I often come with groups to support the local school and the staff take good care of us. Be sure to go for a jungle walk as that is phenomenal.

I stayed in the Bardia Jungle Cottage Bardia National Park in Nov 2014 for 4 nights and I must say it was a great experience! The resort is quaint, with clean little cottages. The rooms are clean with comfortable beds.On arrival we where served welcoming drinks, and minutes later the staff showed the way to the room.Inside we found everything to our likes: basic furniture, a bathroom with bath-thub and hot.Beautifully situated near the park, gorgeous grounds with different areas to watch the local wild life and relax in between safaris.

Cheers!

Alex

Do not stay here! Where to start. A friend and I decided to choose Bardia Jungle Cottage based on their write up in a guide book. Upon arrival I selected my room, which was adequate, and then decided to explore the town and see the festival that was going on. During my walk I encountered a guide company and after speaking with them and being impressed by their knowledge I decided to hire one of their guides to enter the park the following day. When I returned to Bardia Jungle Cottage, I requested breakfast for the following morning before entering the park. The owner immediately refused to make me breakfast (despite the fact that nowhere else would be open at that time) and told me that he was kicking me out of his hotel for hiring a guide from another company. At no point was I told that this was a rule when I came to their establishment, and when I discussed the situation with the owner and staff they would not listen to a word I said and despite other guests coming to my defense, they still kicked me out the following day. When visiting Bardia National Park you have a multitude of options when it comes to accommodation and other services, so do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

Thank you so much for bringing your attention regarding service, he is a very kind person who always takes responsibility for each and every guest who stay with us. Regarding safety we just need to know whether if you have gone for jungle trip with other people from outside because your safety is our priority as it is the real jungle so protecting you is high for us. You should have informed us that you have gone jungle with other guides so we know what is going on. Anyway, thank you again for your attention regarding service. Have a wonderrful time and we do hope you had a great time with bardia wildlife best regards Kumar

The place is amazing, in the middle of the nature. The owner throws stones to dogs and that was awkward and doesn't feel good for us. You go for contact with nature. Electricity and water is down most part of the day in the village. Otherwise the staff are friendly and helpful. You can book activities from the hotel and situation is the best on the area. There is also a deer walking around the garden everyday.

Had an amazing time at BJC, with its tasty food (recommend the chilli chicken), beautiful garden, traditional tharu style huts and very friendly staff. Ram is a very knowledgeable guide with incredibly good eye sight! And Premi knows the park better than any one, and has some amazing stories to tell! I saw rhinos, elephants, otters and 6 tigers during my stay! There are lots of different huts to stay in with some good cheep options, making BJC a really good budget place to stay. And its located right next to the park entrance, with lodes of birds and occasionaly some deer in the garden! I liked it so much I stayed for 2 months!

I first visited Bardia in 2006 and by chance ended up in Bardia Jungle Cottage (BJC). I have since returned twice in 2008 and 2010 spending a considerable period of time at BJC. BJC is a fantastic place to stay and a great base to operate your jungle adventure's from with it being right next to the entrance to the park. The family and staff are wonderful, very friendly and hospitable and their guides exceptional. The park itself is packed full of wildlife, including tigers which I have seen on two occasions, huge pythons, elephants, and rhino to name but a few. You will not be disappointed with a stay in Bardia Jungle Cottage.

Western Nepal is certainly worth a visit, even though it might be an effort and cost a bit of money to get there. The landscape, people and culture are completely different from the Kathmandu Valley. While you're there make sure you visit Bardia National Park. A lot less touristy and absolutely amazing nature/wildlife.

Do not stay in Nepalganj but make your way to Thakurdwara. A lovely village where you can easily spend months. The Bardia Jungle Cottage is a fantastic place to stay. The owner, Premi, and all the other staff are extremely friendly and willing to help. They have a lot of knowledge about the park and wildlife, which garantees a fantastic day in the National Park even without any wildlife.

I have visited Bardia many times over the last twenty odd years and have stayed at three different "budget resorts" during my trips there, I have also checked out the facilities (restaurants, guides etc) at various others, including tiger tops, but to my mind Bardia jungle cottages has an edge that the others do not come close to ...to be fair the rooms and restaurant although very good are of a standard to be found in any other of the top four or five budget outfits ; but that is not what you are coming to Bardia for is it ?
The feeling of peace and tranquility, ...getting away from the road noises and into the calm of the forest is (strange to say) quite excillerating, you know you have arrived, no'one here will hassle you, other than perhaps to enquire what breakfast you fancy for the following morning before heading out for a foray into the park.
The guides that Premi employs and has personaly trained over the years live and breathe the jungles, hills and rivers of Bardia, they are the Gurus that the other lodges staff ask for advice on where to sight animals/birds and where the best fishing can be had at any given time. they will give nothing less than 110% to ensure your particular wants ( tiger, mahseer, florican etc) will be met and the dissapointment if mother nature/luck is against you is woeful to behold !
An example of the effort this family outfit will go to to ensure your satisfaction at Bardia jungle cottages ... a few years ago during the "troubles" we wanted to go for a few days fishing on the Babai river (a fair few miles from bjc) .. a total ban on all motor vehicle transport across Nepal was called by the Maoists, so Premi (in his sixties) organised an ox cart for us and did a fourteen mile (20 k) ride on his ancient pushbike on dirt tracks to negotiate with the rebels at the blockade to ensure our safe and hassle free passage to our chosen spot, in temperatures topping 40 degrees in the shade...you wouldn't get service like that at the Burgh al Arab !!
In short this place is pretty much one of a kind, true Nepalese hospitality and a desire to see you happy ...at its finest.

"They are building new rooms as I type this so you could ask for one of them but they are concrete. The older rooms are built in the same mud brick style as the village so its up to you if you want to feel more like a local ?? All rooms face a courtyard but the ones on either side of reception don't have the generator behind them so are a little quieter."
