Spent two nights in Ostello Bello Bagan. Had a fantastic experience and Mi Mi and tour guide Chris really stood out to us. We arrived slightly early on our check in day and they let us check in with no hassle, likely because the room was already empty, however we were very appreciative after a long bus ride. MiMi was a great help in informing us what to do and everything to do with the hostel, absolutely lovely woman and fantastic at her job. Couldn’t have asked for a better staff member. Rooms were comfortable and nice decor, a bargain. We did one of the Ostello Bello free tours the following morning on the e-bikes. Chris was our guide with this and he was brilliant. So knowledgable, so friendly. Couldn’t have asked for better. Made the tour interesting by mixing up what we saw and giving us lots of topical history to discuss. Can’t recommend him enough also, very charismatic and genuinely just such a lovely man. Safe to say my two friends and I have a fantastic experience in Ostello Bello Bagan. All the staff were brilliant, food was good when we felt like some late night snacks and the social events they had on at night were also great fun. Would recommend to anyone coming to Bagan.

Just before our trip to Bagan we have booked one of the cheapest hotels in town for two night. It turned out to be a huge mistake: after an overnight bus trip at 2AM we got a room made out of shipping container without windows, without hot water, terrible mattress and mold smell, barely could get asleep. Despite booking for 2 nights (non-refundable booking), in the morning we checked out ant went to Ostello Bello, and now it looks one of the best decisions made on this vacation. Seconds after entering the lobby we were offered a proper coffee. As they had the room available, and we looked exhausted after sleepless night, we got a complimentary early check-in. When we stepped into the room, it was no question we are saved – spotless clean and spatious room, large bed with comfy matress, and the hot shower with the proper pressure.
As they have a travel desk, and we already learned a lesson about spontaneous bookings, in the next hour we have made the most of the bookings for the rest of the trip, such as bus tickets, trekking tour. OB have tours every day, a free guided city tours on e-bikes, which was fantastic and exiting experience.
We also have spent the afternoon at the pool at Ostello Bello Bagan Pool – friendly staff (special thanks to Nyein Nyein). Those experiences left no doubt we need to choose Ostello Bello Inle Lake for the last leg of the trip.
In conclusion, you get A LOT for the price you pay at OB, it is totally worth every penny!

I liked this place but after Song of Travel, its hard for a hostel to compete with. Its nice, they are friendly, have nice tours (sunset boat trip was amazing!). Room was clean. Breakfast was fine. I think they had a good concept in the beginning but it felt a bit less passionate then when they started. Its still a good hostel where the price is worth it. Do not go to the motorbike rental at the stall at the entrance of the hostel. Just walk a bit further down the street, cross the road, theres a small stall with motorbikes (half the price)

Saturday 4 January 2020, one of the restaurant staff filmed me when I was in the toilet. He filmed me from the next door. I looked up, because I realized there was something moving above my head and it made noise. I dragged him out of the next toilet section right away, and reported him to the manager. I managed to unlock his phone and found 3 video evidences (2 same lady I don’t know and 1 video is mine showing me taking off my pants). The video is very inappropriate and got me really shocked!
There were 2 German guys, a Spanish girl, a Chinese girl and 2 Indonesian girls sitting together and I showed them the videos so that they believe I wasn’t make up stories.

I appreciate how the manager represented Ostello Bello to apologize to me. They made sure the videos had been deleted right away. But still, someone over here can’t let that scary experience go out of her mind. IF.... I did not catch that guy, he wouldnt’ve stopped! There will be another case like this, and I feel sorry for the girls who have/will become his victims.

I write this review not to scare all the readers to go there. PLEASE, do come! The ambience of restaurant is very nice, music is super cool, prices are cheap, the other staffs are helpful.

But I just want my story will be the last thing written on this review column. Ladies, enjoy your holiday and always be aware of your surroundings. Especially when you go to the unisex public toilet.

This was my favorite hostel in Myanmar!!! I stayed here 3 nights. Booked the private room as I wanted to splurge for my 36th birthday. Great decision! Clean, comfortable room. Friendly staff! Delicious restaurant on site and the bar was very convenient! I met so many amazing people here from all over the world. The activities and free tours they provide made everything so easy (esp for solo travelers). I was able to sign up the day before. I did the free Bagan tour, Mt. Popa tour, sunset boat trip on my birthday which was the highlight!! We had such a fun time on the boat, drinking and dancing. Gorgeous sunset. By the end of the evening, we were like family. The staff even provided a birthday cake and sang "happy birthday!" along with all my new friends at the hostel. If you want to rent motorbikes, there is a place right next to the hostel. Very cheap. Location is excellent! You are on the main road so lots of restaurants and a place to exchange money (inside a grocery store). There are 2 massage places within walking distance too. Have fun and enjoy! Thank you Ostello Bello for such a memorable birthday!!!

This place was great. The staff was friendly- from walking in bone weary and exhausted to getting up crazy early, I always encountered a cheerful and friendly staff person. All I had to do was ask a question and they helped out right away. I would book this place again in a heartbeat- clean, friendly, and really cool in and of itself! And the mopeds were right outside the front door to use. Many restaurants were nearby to walk to.

Look elsewhere, there are hotels that offer more for less!!!! This entire hostel is run by foreigners that have no experience in hospitality management and it’s EVIDENT! We stayed in a 6 bed mixed dorm, our toilet and shower were both clogged, the beds were nice enough though. THEY OFFER NO HELP, the foreign staff, as a whole, are about as useful as a four eyed blind man. They’re also as rude as they come. It’s like walking back into high school except the girls here aren’t pretty and their attitudes are worse. I’d suggest you support the local hotels as this one is simply robbing people blind. Spoke to the general manager who was evidently nursing a bad hangover... he just screams professional ( honestly though did you climb out of an early 2000 NSync video )? Overall this hostel is a bag of balls, there’s a hotel down the road that has a pool, friendly HELPFUL staff, does laundry, breakfast included etc that’s way cheaper. You get one star Ostello Bello because you gave me my money back, even though I booked online and because I feel sorry for the lovely Burmese staff you have working for you. I suggest you pull your finger out as Ostello Bello Bagan is simply the rotten apple of the bunch.

The amenities, interiors were all good. It's one of the most-frequented hostels in Bagan as a lot of other backpackers were staying as well during our stay. There are complimentary water, tea, milk, coffee, Burmese cigars, and thanaka at the lobby. There is also a locker room where luggage can be stored if you arrive early before check-in time, and the door always stays locked and has a security camera which ensures that the luggage are stored safely, however check-in took quite too long to finish

The grounds and rooftop area are clean and spacious. The dorm room and the bathroom are also modern and clean. By the time we have checked-in and bunk beds were already assigned to us, one of the beds given to us was not yet made up; the sheets, pillow case, and others were still messy which was not really a big deal but could be a bit of nuisance. Nonetheless the hostel's location is good, as there is an e-bike / bike rental service just across the hostel; there are also lots of nearby small local restaurants and money changer, however, the hostel is a bit far from where the Bagan temples are.

Western-style breakfast was good, and they give free pasta at certain schedules, three times every day. They also have a mini-bar where you could order for dinner; serving portion is huge and is worth the money. We've also noticed that they also help the local staff members how to speak in English which is very good as it is one way of helping Myanmar.

However with lots of guests staying here, it could get pretty commercialized as check-in / check-out times are followed strictly, guests are not allowed to use the shower room even after check-out, etc. unlike with the other 4 different hostels we stayed at in Myanmar during our visit. It kind of lacked this 'hospitality / compassion' component that hostels catering for backpackers usually provide to their guests, given that the room rates were a bit pricey. Nonetheless, with the service, amenities, and location, it's a good place to stay at when in Bagan.

Ostello Bello was a very charming hostel to stay in Bagan. They have small community of travelers, games and drinks at night.
What we loved was the free walking tours to see the sunset. We loved everything about Ostello bello and it's like the heart of Bagan, Myanmar. Highly recommended!

Chances are that the hostel staff can arrange it upon arrival. I had emailed them about our desires several days in advance, and they suggested we arrange in upon check-in, which they did to our satisfaction. They do have a list of drivers and tour guides that they call. I am not familiar with Kalaw. So, just to be safe, I would suggest emailing them your desires in advance and, once you get their answer, go from there.

Hi, I'd spend 3-4 days, specially if you are planning on taking a ballon trip as they don't fly when the weather is bad and you may have to postpone the trip. Just in front of Ostello there is a place they rent ebikes for K6000 for the day. No licence is required. The pagodas are everywhere, so it is close to some and no so close to others. Rent an e-bike and you can go everywhere!
