We stayed here for 4 nights. Check-in was smooth and we were able to enter our room at 11am. The breakfast was good with plenty to choose from. We had an evening meal here which was very good. Our room was clean and spacious. The aircon worked well, a comfy bed and hot powerful shower and wifi worked well all the time.
A couple of things I really didn't like about this hotel; there aren't any English speaking channels on the tv (although they say they do). The pool and sunbed area is in constant shade all day. This means the pool is freezing and nowhere to sit in the sun. Also the biggest criticism is the dirty looking towels. Note to management...listen to what your guests are saying in the reviews. Throw them dirty old towels away and get some nice new fluffy white ones.

I'm staying three nights in beautiful place. I love the room, garden and pool. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The place is easy to go outside around pogada. Breakfast is so nice and we areenjoy to stay there. We plan to go back again this romantic place in Bagan.

This is a very good place to stay, but very very expensive, it seems to me. It was sort of 'any port in a storm' for my wife and me, since we had visa problems that prevented us from arriving in Burma on schedule, which spoiled some bookings and forced us to make others. This was at Christmas. Agoda (as usual?) suggested that there were only two hotels in all of Bagan with any room, which of course was complete nonsense.

The room cost about $150 a night, breakfast included. And there was a very poor, obligatory 'gala dinner' for Christmas Eve which cost $60 per person, and this did not even include any wine! I deeply resented this whole business.

The pool is pretty, but in shade, and right by the dining area. The rooms are comfortable and clean, but dark. There are no wardrobes and few hangers in the open space where one can hang clothes. The buffet breakfast has fruits, some Asian things, and eggs pre-cooked sunny-side-up and chilling on the sideboard. A talentless and perfunctory plinking on a Burmese harp accompanies breakfast and gets your blood pressure rising slowly.

The place aims at some sort of 5-star status but just seems pretentious to me. The best thing about this hotel for us was the proximity of the Green Elephant Restaurant, on the main road. Excellent place to eat!

Rooms set around garden with ornamental pool-- candle lit at night!. Inside/outdoor dining swimming pool-side. Comfortable large room & bathroom in comtemporary rustic Asia style. Free (slow) WiFi is nevertheless workable. Staff friendly & helpful. Nice place to relax after a day of dust and too-many pagodas/temples. Easy taxi, bike or truck access to the sites. Cocktails riverside for sunset is 10 min walk, and Green Elephant restaurant across the road has good Myanmar, Thai & other menu selections. A few other bars/cafes nearby. We didn't try the hotel restaurant, except for quite a good breakfast buffet with western & asian selection.

Quite the best hotel we stayed in on our Myanmar trip. Not the most luxurious but the welcoming staff and attentive attitude of all made it a wonderful experience.
The room was large and well furnished, buffet breakfast good, lovely swimming pool and what about the carved turtle on the bed!! Pioty they wouldnt let us take it away!
Good location for restaurant down the road. Unfortunately we were only booked in for two nights. We could happily have stayed a week!

Worst hotel I encountered in 37 countries:
- Room infested with mosquitoes and bugs of all sorts (only hotel in Bagan that doesn't do mosquitoes fumigation)
- Blood stains on bedhseets.
- Brown and yellow stains everywhere on towels.
- Filthy room: walls splattered with dead bugs and other unrecognizable stains
- Stains everywhere on cushions, curtains, sofa
- Dirty, old, cracked walls everywhere
- Leaking sink, making a puddle of water on the floor
- old uncomfortable matress with srpingboards sticking out
- management refused to provide refund for the 3 nights I didn't use (I moved out after 1 night) stealing $210
- not 4* hotel, more like a 2* property
MANAGEMENT:
After the 1st night, I showed them the state of the room telling them I was moving out, asking for a refund for the 3 additional nights they forced me to pay in advance at check in (hotels never do that). The manager admitted they gave me a non-refurbished room (really???) and said that if I had paid in cash, he could have refunded me immediately. But as I paid them with credit card, I had to wait for their office to open on monday. I asked them to give me the 3 nights difference in cash, they said they didn't have any money. At one point the manager told me "No, you can't leave, you have to stay". WHAT? I wasted the whole morning arguing and explaining to him and other 2 of his staff why it was not acceptable to charge a customer in full without seeing the room and then refusing to provide a refund if the room turned out to be a dump like this one! The manager attitude was appalling, looking at me smiling while clearly not having a clue of what the hospitality world entails nor how an hotel should be managed. He then disappeared to speak with the owner of the hotel, then later came back saying that I will receive a refund the following week and provided the name and number of their office in Yangon. A few days went by and nobody from their office would reply to my messages. So I went back twice to the hotel with my guide as witness and translator. The hotel manager disappeared, pretending to be in meeting. His staff advised he would call my guide, but he never did. Just to add insult to injury their reservation manager in Yangon (who doesn't speak any English and was talking with my guide who was than translating to me) advised that they will not provide any refund. But if I go to Yangon they will offer a lunch as way of compensation. My guide and driver were shocked by the unethical behaviour of the Areindmar Hotel (especially knowing that I was there to bring tourism business to Bagan!)
Now, as a professional in the hotel industry for over 17 years, I can't even list the number of appalling things about this hotel and its crooked management. Any Burmese local I spoke with apologized to me as they felt that the Areindmar Hotel is not only damaging the burmes hotel industry, but also the reputation of local burmese, the majority of which still follow the buddhist precepts of "don't lie" and "do not steal". Watch out Areindmar, bad karma is coming your way like there's no tomorrow!

Who would know such a lovely hotel could be off the little lane. Once you walk in you really start to get a feel for this charming hotel, with its nice pool and courtyard garden. My room was a nice size with a fantastic bathroom (shower only). The whole hotel was very clean and gardens well kept. Worth noting that the breakfast was nice and a good size but service very slow! They opened breakfast at 5:30 for us so we could have something to eat before our flight (they did not need to do this) but even then was slow for food to come out. This dose not have to be a bad thing just worth knowing. Other then that good location near all the main restaurants and a great hotel in new Bagan.

The unusual entrance belies the beautiful hotel that lies beyond. Don't let this put you off. We had a wonderful stay here, and enjoyed exploring the local area too all very safe.

Our room overlooking the courtyard was serviced to a very high standard with fruit on arrival and fresh linens and flowers each day. All the staff are extremely courteous and helpful.

Breakfast buffet with foods to suit most taste and served the lovely, large open aspect dinning rooms with views over the courtyard and swimming pool. We also ate here in the evenings and found the food to be very good.

Wifi is available but more sporadic than reliable. We found it best to leave laptops downloading emails then we know we'd get them at some point!

Well positioned for visiting Lacquerware factory and local shops but a good 30 mins taxi drive to ballon launch site. Quite close to many of the ancient Stupas and temples.

The Areindmar in New Bagan in definitely a hotel, not B & B and Inns as listed in Trip Advisdor at present. It does however offer exceptional value for money at present and we thoroughly recommend it.
We booked the Areindmar as it is a relatively new hotel-about 2 years old, never a bad thing in Asia and because the more expensive offerings in Bagan failed to excite us. The hotel is 3 sided double storied with ground or 1st floor rooms. The courtyard garden features a large old and beautiful acacia tree. There is also a water feature with water lilies and the garden is beautifully maintained. The room we occupied, on the 1st floor was good size, about 27 sqm with a nice quality king size bed, fairly minimally but nicely furnished with teak furniture. Teak floors. Bathroom was through this double door affair was nice and included a walk in -shower.
There is a pool area next to the restaurant which was popular with the mostly European clientele staying when we did. Staff was very pleasant and obliging and tried hard with English. The hotel has a nice feel to it such as when the staff are well looked after by management.
The $US50 per night we paid included a good breakfast. Negatives were the quite outrageous restaurant meal prices; probably twice that of similar alternatives. The wireless internet connection was abysmal and hardly usable. These are small quips however and we recommend the hotel for a value offering; 5 stars for us.
