A wonderful property on the rim of the Ngorongoro caldera, fantastic views, very pleasant room. A great place as a base to visit the caldera on safari. (There are no places to stay on the floor of the caldera which has its own eco-system, so this hotel is a good choice. Tanzania has done a fantastic job of protecting large...

This is a beautiful property right on the high rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. The views were spectacular from our room and from the bar. The construction of the hotel is from large rocks and is beautiful. The service was excellent - good bar staff and attentive restaurant staff. They have "local shows" each night in the bar area which...

This is a high-end, Western-style, hotel perched right on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. And it has all the amenities you would expect from a hotel like that: separate bar and restaurant; press 1 on your phone to get anything you need: lots of towels (a nice change from B&Bs and safari camps), travel-size shampoo, conditioner, and lotion in...

Spent 2 nights here and what AMAZING views from the bar, restaurant and bedrooms. I agree with other reviewers, the hotel is busy, but this was OK for us as everyone was on some kind of on safari tour and all seemed to be enjoying themselves. The food and service was excellent and the basket of fruit in our room...

We stayed here for two nights while on safari at the Ngorongoro Crater. The room was spacious, clean and we had truly superb views of the caldera from our balcony. After a full day on safari, we were so glad to return to hot water, thick towels, robes, and the like. In the bar area, our favourite place was around...

I'm going to ignore all the negative reviews here and cut to the chase. This lodge is out of this world. I would pay double for those views as they were truly unrivalled. It is one of few accommodations that offers pristine views of the crater which to this day stands as one of the greatest sights ever, so it's...

I'm torn writing this review, because fundamentally there is absolutely nothing wrong with this hotel; beautiful, no, STUNNING, views of the Caldera, great food and service and the rooms were comfortable, with a powerful shower, robes etc. They put hot water bottles in the bed at turn down as it does get chilly - lovely touch. The reason it just...

This was my favourite of the Serena's that we stayed at in Tanzania. Great view over the caldera, buffalo and waterback walking straight past our balcony (I could have touched them if I was crazy enough!) and friendly service! The caldera is awesome, covered by fog in the mornings and clear later in the day. It gets cold here at...

At the edge of the creator, some of the best possible views. Good food, great service. Nice staff. The packed food quality could be worked on. Nice on site entertainment. Good to stay for 2 or 3 nights unless wild life enthusiast.

The staff was friendly, especially Hussein in dining area, he remembered my name after just serving me one time. The room was large, it had a safe which was nice. The wifi only worked in bar/reception areas for me. In room would have been nicer. Especially since my main complaint about this place is there are way too many other...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Perched on the jagged rim of the crater, wreathed in morning mist, camouflaged in river-stone and cloaked in indigenous creepers, the Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge is a triumph of ecological and architectural fusion. Sensitively constructed so as to take nothing from its environment whilst affording endless vistas over the heat-shimmering reaches of the crater below, the clustered boulder-built buildings of the Lodge hug the crater rim, linked by rope-lashed timber walkways that skirt the buttressed roots of ancient, liana-hung trees. ... more   less
