Clean, quiet and beautiful. Eric and his staff made our visit perfect. No matter what we asked for, his staff delivered with a smile. Great wildlife within minutes and a real appreciation for conservation by the staff and guides. Great food everyday and quiet and clean rooms!

My husband and I stayed here for 3 days the end of March at the beginning of our 3 week safari. Upon arrival, my first thought was "I never want to leave". It was the perfect place to recover from our jet lag and be introduced to the wonders of Tanzania. We saw so many animals including zebra, wildebeest, buffalo,...

My husband and I went to Tanzania to climb Mt Kilimanjaro 9 days, and go on safari (8 days). At the end of our trip we stayed at Ndarakwai Ranch. We felt so lucky our outfitter had recommended it! The tents are beautifully decorated with antique wooden furniture, private showers and flush toilets. The animals wander through in a relaxed...

Hi Sally, I am very glad you enjoyed your stay with us, i hope the rest of your trip went well! We are still working on creating a sustainable fish farm close by, and are also in the process of supplying people in the community with bee hives as a potential honey business too. Thanks again for you review and...

Ndarakwai Ranch is one of those remarkable places you feel privileged to visit even once in your life. Straight out of a Hemingway novel, the property is distinctive in a variety of ways - raised platform "tents" provide more luxury than most brick-and-mortar hotel rooms, the surrounding lands are teeming with natural beauty and wildlife, and the staff is beyond...

Ndarakwai is a special place in Tanzania and a special place in Africa. Well within an hours drive from Kilimanjaro international airport, I was astounded how quickly I felt myself stepping into Africa of old. The ranch sits amid seven hills between Kilimanjaro and her sister Mount Meru, and is picturesque and evocative to days gone by as one could...

We stayed at Ndarakwai the night before starting a Kilimanjaro climb. It was wonderfully relaxing - we had everything we needed or wanted and at the same time felt part of the natural habitat. The dining area and reception area are all open buildings so you could hear and see the wildlife and the luxury tents were amazing. So simple...

Some friends and I came here for a day trip to go on a game drive and have a delicious lunch. The ranch is amazing, stunning views in every direction. And while on the game drive we got to see plenty of game, there was definitely no shortage of animals for our up close and personal viewing pleasure. Not to...

Ndarakwai was the first stop on our African adventure. We stayed there about a year ago and had an amazing time. Hospitality at it's finest! We received the warmest welcome from the staff at Ndarakwai- ever attentive and ever smiling. The ranch itself is breathtaking, as is the camp. The luxury tents are decorated beautifully, simple yet classy, giving off a real 'out of Africa' feel. I was extremely impressed by their eco friendly practices (home grown veges, use of available...

Our large group of 18 stayed here for two nights at the beginning of our Tanzanian safari. The dining staff were particularly attentive and very good. The food was plentiful and delightful. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Started in 1994, Ndarakwai is a unique success story of land and wildlife rehabilitation, the first of its kind in Tanzania. With about 70 mammal species and over 350 bird species in a combination of high long grass plains, classic Acacia savannah, Commiphora thickets, and riparian habitats, a stay at Ndarakwai is a great addition to any safari itinerary. Ndarakwai Camp, with 14 large comfortable and individually decorated tents, is set at 4200 feet in the midst of an 11,000 acre privately-owned ranch in Siha District, West Kilimanjaro. Ndarakwai offers a high degree of personalized service, attention to detail, great food, as well as a wide variety of excellent wildlife related activities, cultural experiences, and excursions. What really sets us apart from National parks is our ability to offer half and full day walks with an experienced guide, as well as night game drives. These are two things you are not able to do in the parks. If it is birding on foot, or searching for nocturnal animals by spotlight, Ndarakwai is for you! Ndarakwai strives to be the best in luxury tented camping while maintaining the principles of responsible environmental stewardship. Extensive use of solar power (for electricity and hot water), the use of clay ovens for cooking, preference for local produce, combined with 11,000 protected acres of bush and woodland give confidence the camp is being established as carbon neutral. ... more   less
