Converted train into small but comfortable and cheap and clean accommodation with a difference. Great beach front and very good bar and restaurant. Not much to do in area but one night as a stopover is ideal.

We recently stayed here for two nights and loved it. I would gladly recommend staying here if this is your type of thing. One night would be enough if you are tall. Stunning view from room 33, coach 3. Kids will love the experience.

I was really excited to stay here! A converted train sounds like a lovely and quirky place to stop off for a really individual experience. It was so disappointing. We had paid for 2 nights but could only hack the one and left! It's essentially an overnighter train that is parked and hasn't been converted at all.. it just stopped... More

Thank you for taking the time to review us. We do regret that you were disappointed with your stay. We suggest that you try our more luxury Royal Suites on your next stay. They are spacious, comfortable and more private. We would have gladly upgraded you if you had voiced your discomfort. We look forward to seeing you again. More

This was something unique, our kids loved it. The train is small but it is still very good value for money. Lots of character in the train, and main restaurant. It is right next to the beach and waking up in the train and looking over the ocean is a win.

We just love this place ! A real train turned into a hotel. It was like traveling in those old steam trains like in the movies. The cabin is authentic, even the old buttons for the light are there. Then you wake up and see the beach in front of you. Marvelous. And then there is the breakfast (buffet) that... More

Back in varsity days we had the most amazing time in the backpackers part of the train. Thought I'll take the missus away to enjoy and relive the good old days. After one night in the backpackers, I realised that I'm getting too old for this s**t. So next morning we upgraded to the executive luxury suite. Wow, we felt... More

Although the Santos Express is not the cheapest accommodation, it is definitely worth a visit. The Hostel is directly at the beach and rooms have enough space for big bags. The Employes were nice and helpful, card machine was not working. The included breakfast was good =)

If you're brave enough to sleep in a very tight space then this is it. The train is literally a stone's throw away from the beach making it super easy to enjoy even late night beach walks if you're into that kind of thing. The lodge is affordable and easily accessible but most importantly I would say it's something worth... More

The Santos Express is in a really great location right on the beach, and an easy distance from the town (although we didn't find a great deal to see there). It has a nice cafe/restaurant, the best feature of which was being able to sit out right next to the sea and enjoy the view. Breakfast was included and was... More

The train hostel is super cool and i really enjoyed my stay here. The dorm rooms are nice, bathroom facilities are a little small but it's clean and fine for a few nights. The reception staff were lovely but unfortunately the restaurant staff were quite rude and unfriendly towards us. We would have been happy to eat there most nights... More
