I had the pleasure of spending a month at Cafe Tissardmine, on a creative retreat. Karen and Yousef have created a truly special place, where you can find peace, tranquility and creative awakening, all in one. The accommodation is lovely. Rooms are well-appointed and so...More

Lovely location that is true but there were many problematic comments and situations from the English owner. I wish it had been different. The Berber people who work there are kind and generous but the owner cares only about over charging you for water and...More

Basic adobe structures and Berber tents in the vastness of the desert beside a tiny village with no other buildings in sight. Berber carpets, alcoves and courtyards, and a rooftop to view the sunrise, sunset, night sky. Nutritious, varied Moroccan food prepared daily. English spoken,...More

I stayed with my group at Cafe Tissardmine in early March. Before arriving we were on a fairly regimented schedule, but once there our schedule sort of melted away and we entered organic time--days were defined by art, music, meals, and meanders into the desert....More

This is a heavenly oasis: a place to be calm and breathe in the beauty of the desert with gracious hosts. The accommodations are classic and very comfortable (and surprisingly modern), ranging between permanent tent structures to beautiful cob/adobe structures. Lovely lounge areas to have...More

About
Description
Situated in Morocco near Erg Chebbi, one of the largest sand dunes in the Sahara, Cafe Tissardmine is a unique guesthouse and artist retreat providing a creative oasis for artists and travellers amongst the ...More desert's beauty, grandeur and stillness and the culture of the indigenous Berber people.Tissardmine is a secluded, tranquil destination for anyone seeking an escape from the noise of the world. It has been created by Australian artist, Karen Hadfield, and local Berber Youssef Bouchedor. With the realisation of the desert's potential for creative inspiration and tranquility, Karen and Youssef bought an old ruined building in Tissardmine, and slowly breathed new life into it. Karen's artistic expertise is accompanied by Youssef's incredible knowledge of the desert.Accommodation is either in one of the four en-suite rooms built around an internal courtyard or for short stays we recommend the traditional berber tents also each with en-suite bathroom (not quite so traditional!). The main house has a quiet salon/library and a larger salon with a wood fire used for dining when the weather is not so favourable for dining al fresco. We have a large outdoor eating area and often cook on the fire.We also provide excursions and camping so however you want to spend your time in this neck of the woods, we can arrange everything. All prices will be quoted as an inclusive price once we know your plan...no surprises!Cafe Tissardmine is totally run on solar power so we ask you to leave your hair dryers at home!
