Elsamere was the retirement home for Joy and George Adamson. Unfortunately they did nit live long enough to enjoy it. You can now stay there and relax in the unique surroundings and watch zebra, giraffe, hippo and Black and White Colobus monkeys that visit the grounds. Rooms are chalet type lodges that are set back from the main house. Meals...

Thank you for your review Iain. What you describe is exactly what we aim for - peace, lovely surroundings, good service, abundant wildlife, history and last not but not least a comfortable stay. Also your stay contributes to the conservation education work we do at the Centre For Education in Sustainability based at Elsamere, continuing the work of Joy and...

Elsamere is a divine treat where you can live the breath the incredible history of the Adamsons. Fairly basic accommodation as fine and right in the grounds with views, food is great and plentiful. Service lovely and the gardens and boat trip are superb. And extra treat and surprise is the range of large wildlife that join you day and...

Although we cannot guarantee the wildlife they do seem to like what we do at Elsamere. The grounds are not the manicured lawns of some hotels but they are mown on a regular basis by the hippo that graze here most nights assisted by the zebra. The giraffe keep the trees trim and the Colobus monkeys tend to break off...

We spent one night at Elsamere on 7 January and it was a dream come true for us as George and Joy Adamson are our heroes and we are passionate Born Free Foundation supporters. We have wanted to visit for a long time and it definitely lived up or our expectations. The setting of the house is breath taking over...

I am so happy that your experience of Elsamere was so rewarding. Sometimes visiting the site of a beloved book, film or person can be a bit of a letdown. The lodge itself is as Joy left it and it is preserved as a museum to her memory. George had his own house within the grounds which is currently occupied...

Thank you for your review and your comments. The light switches in two of the rooms are in odd places but unfortunately not something that can easily be resolved. We have been working on the hot water problem. About a year ago we converted our hot water to a solar heated system which seems too efficient for the lack of...

Having been captivated as a boy by the movie, "Born Free," I wanted to connect with the story of the couple that inspired it all: Joy and George Adamson. I also wanted a get-away place for me and a few friends that wouldn't be too expensive but would be comfortable, attractive, and near a few natural attractions when we cared...

I am glad Elsamere did not let you down - I know the responsibility you feel when you encourage friends to visit somewhere. The feeling of being at home and relaxed is one that Sam and his staff have worked on for many years and the reason why so many of our guests return. We try to treat everyone as...

Less than two hour drive from Nairobi is this gem of a place overlooking Lake Naivasha. As you enter you may be lucky to encounter the giraffes and the zebras. The cottages feel like home. The food is still mole but delicious. In the evening, the sunset is amazing. Beware of the hippos...

Thank you for your review and comments. All the profits from your visit go towards the continuation of Joy and Georges work in conservation education undertaken by the Centre for Education in Sustainability based at Elsamere. Me and my girlfriend stayed here for two days during our safari. Lovely place with a good history right by the lake. The one night we saw a rhino and a giraffe right on the lawn, and the other night some zebras. The room was clean and spacious. Would absolutely recommend this place.

Unknowing of the very interesting history of the place we booked a night based on location and previous reviews. If you are inclined to superluxurios, pampered places with the air of Ritz Carlton look elsewhere. But if you want to support education of sustainable environmental awareness in a place full of history go Elsamere. The story of the lioness Elsa...
