After travelling from Timimoun, the southern side of the Grand Erg Occidental, some 385 miles away, we arrived at Ghardaia pretty sand-blown and knackered. Ghardaia bus station was buzzing with people and me and my travelling companion were keen to meet our host, Rostom. He'd given instructions about how to contact him when we were 20 miles outside of Ghardaia,... More

We found Rostom probably the same way most people did: though TripAdvisor, where he receives glowing reviews. Thankfully, one of these reviews contains his phone number. We ring, then emails are exchanged, and then, to finalise the arrangements while we’re out there, we’re instructed to buy a pay-as-you-go SIM card on the Algerian mobile/cellphone network he uses. These steps duly... More

I and my friend have traveled to Ghardaia for a few days last year. The guesthouse(Maison d'Hote de Beni-isugen) was so lovely for me and my friend. Rostom who is the owner of the guesthouse served us as a family member. We had a wonderful time by him. He always gave us unforgettable dinner. He is a great person. Do... More

We travelled to Ghardaia this September and the weather is not so hot as we expected. We spent 3 nights and 2 days in Rostom's home. He is a very gentle and sincere guy. In this two days he guided us visiting 3 small towns and seeing the amazing dunes at the edge of Sahara. We enjoyed the food that... More

Beautiful place, really affordable and a wonderful host who took us on a tour in the oasis and the dunes, cooked camel meat for us and shared with us an unforgettable dinner under the stars. Looking forward to doing it again!

We have traveled to Ghardaia in order to learn about the Algerian culture. The Maison d'Hote de Beni-Isguen was perfect for our research. Among the large date palms between fragrant mint and the splashing of the water supply in that traditional Swimingpool, the garden spent calmness and refreshment for our morning yoga exercises. In the evenings we nursed our thirst... More

I spent two nights staying with Rostom and co. in Ghardaia, and received a wonderful introduction to the culture and history of the M'Zab. I ate couscous, drank water from clay jugs lined with charcoal oil, and slept on the roof under the stars. A pleasure, all the way through!

We went to Beni-isugen in the middle of Ramadan so wasn't expecting much to do or be going on. We were happy to while away the hours with a book in the shade, protected from the Saharan sun. But we got much more than this - our host Rostom knew exactly the best times of day to visit the city... More

Before we stayed in this guesthouse we had a room in the more luxurious hotel Two Towers, just next doors. Because we wanted to stay a little longer in Ghardaia and there was no room available in Two Towers we moved to this guesthouse. Best decision of our holiday! Although there is less comfort than in our previous hotel, we... More

This village is something special in M'Zab valley. There is just a few place where you can stay. This place is totally isolated, they have special religion tradition, so you have to behave properly. This guesthouse is very simple, but it is worth to go there and feel special atmosphere of this place, relax and make calm, close to nature.
