Although I have rated Tetepare average it is a unique place to visit. If you want a laid back eco style holiday this is the place. The cottages are simple leaf houses with no facilities, rainwater showers and toilets are just down the path. Meals are in a large dining hall, mostly vegetarian and seafood- we had pork once. The... Having travelled extensively around the Western Province, I would rate this lodge as "the most special". I suspect this is because of its history, born from a desire to protect the island from logging; be that as it may, it had a lovely atmosphere, and our hosts had evident delight in their beautiful, protected place. We did all the usual... More

This was our last stop of our short 10 day trip in the Solomon Islands. We came here on a fast boat from Munda. We saw dolphins on the way and the scenary in general was amazing. Tetepare is an extremely beautiful island with so much wildlife. I would say it was a bit adventurous. And when we went in... More

After reading the book about Tetepare (The Last Wild Island by John Read) I was hooked. I patiently waited a few years for my boys to reach a good age for visiting the island - 9 and 11. It was their first overseas holiday. I was looking for a genuine eco-tourism and nature-based experience and Tetepare certainly met all my... More

Having booked a week in advance, I advised Mary in the office in Munda that I would be arriving into Ughele at 7am. She told me the boat would be waiting for me. At 7am, after 22 hours on the boat, I stepped off the MV Fair Glory into Ughele and looked around for the boat. No sign at all.... More

We wanted to visit this island because it was not your usual run of the mill resort, and its remoteness and rustic nature appealed. The boat trips to and from the island were a bit of a challenge (see below) however we were glad we chose to stay there. The island is covered in lovely rainforest, full of birdlife (surprisingly... The island is indeed a true gem and accommodation and staff were above expectations! All said about the beauty of this place is true. 90 minutes transfer with a speedboat. Lush emerald jungle straight into the deep blue. Jumping spinner dolphins next to the boat, a rainbow above Tetepare. Stayed here 4 nights. Staff is ready for you 24/7. Listening... More

My wife and I were to join our adult daughter on Tetepare for six days. However due to a double booking we spent three days. The natural wonders of Tetepare Island are clearly wonderful. Swimming on coral reefs, hopefully coming across a Dugong (as we did). Joining the rangers as they catch and tag turtles. Lush rainforest walks with amazing... More

We stayed for 7 nighs/8 days. Tetepare is the last primary rainforest (unlogged island) in the Solomons, and with it's marine protected area it is an incredible place for a wild experience. We saw turtles (including leatherbacks laying eggs & their hatchlings), dugongs, crocs, megapodes, monitor lizards, and a plethoro of other terrestrial & aquatic creatures. Tetepare is run by... Tetpare was interesting though not very comfortable with respect to beds and being bitten by mosquitoes, as the nets all had holes in them. The snorkeling wasn't as good as Wilderness or Uepi. Be prepared with a torch ( no lights in leaf huts) and walking shoes. We were glad we wern't there for more than 3 days as activity... More
