We unfortunately went to the Hluhluwe game reserve at the end of a long wet summer and the vegetation had grown so thick that we saw much less game than usual. I have made a note to myself only to go to game reserves in winter or spring when the vegetation is sparser. Having said that we did see a...

I had read some reports on this website and was concerned based on some peoples experiences. I was very pleasantly suprised. This is a great alternative to Kruger, and especially suitable for a short break as it is only juts over 2hrs from Durban Airport and also far less crowded. It has an abundance of game - Rhino everywhere! -...

We had been visiting Imfolozi, were we had rented The Masinda Game Lodge for our stay, but we needed a one night stay in the Hluluwe section to give us a quick exit from the park early the next morning. We were very pleased with the accommodation, it was one of the two bedroomed units and was clean and bright....

Not a welcoming place! I have been there with my parents from Germany and we were very disappointed with almost everything. We even complained at the Senior Manager but they seem that they dont care. Bad smelling (moldy) rooms and a very uninspired game drive with a driver who didnt really care! Just avoid!!! There are so many other beautiful...

Hilltop camp has stunning views over the surrounding park. Its location in the park ensures that you can easily do game drives and also relax in camp if feel like it. The rooms are fine. Not modern, but clean and spacious. The restaurant serves ok food.

Easily reserved online. Friendly staff on arrival. Impressed with self-catering dual double #40 depite minor issues with room but no great obstacles: Plumbing leaked on floor, Rheostats on stove top misaligned, Ants. Did not come here to safari in room. 5am guided tour very productive - thankfully guide was not chatty - biggest advantage was height of observation. Stopped to...

We had friends visiting from Canada and New Zealand and did a 3 day Kruger trip then made our way down to Hluhluwe. When we arrived the reception people were rude and seemed like they did not care that we were guests. We booked our game drive for the next morning at 7pm. I was feeling fine when we made...

There are 2 choices of where to stay for the Hluhluwe–iMfolozi Park: Mpila to the south and HIlltop to the north. The park is great and definitely worth a visit and Hilltop (being on a hill) has great views! We stayed in a non-self catering chalet for 2 nights. Despite the mould and musty smell, the chalet was quite large and...

What a terrific Ezvemvelo Rest Camp! Hard to believe that Ndumo and Hilltop are run by the same organization. Chalk and cheese!! Hilltop chalets are great and very well equipped. The staff right from reception through to the cleaners/maintenance are outstanding. If there is anything wrong you just ask and it is done within the hour. The shop is well...

We only booked for 1 night in the 2 bed rondawels at Hilltop camp Hluhluwe but we did not even stay for that one night. Having stayed at a few SANPARK run accommodations I was expecting the same standard of accommodation from Hilltop. We were extremely dissapointed. The communal kitchen was not very clean, I did not even look at...
