Despite a problem in moving our booking dates (our lack of Spanish), we spent one very pleasant night here and wished we could have stayed longer. Fray Bentos as a town is not overly well endowed with hotels and we were happy we made this our choice.
The room itself was on the small side, and the bathroom even more so, but the bed was comfortable and the shower hot - always a good combination.
The buffet breakfast was very good with a reasonable variety considering that they cater primarily for local tourists who don't share our breakfast cereal enthusiasm, and there were even sunflower and chia seeds! The coffee was decent.
Reception staff, alas for us, don't have a great standard of English but given this constraint, they were utterly charming and more fun in person than by email! In the event of us returning to Fray Bentos we would certainly stay here again. It made an excellent base for our visit to El Anglo.

Stayed here during a quick overnight in Fray Bentos and it turned out to be a great choice. They are clearly used to short-term, business travellers, the check-in and check-out were both super effective.
Breakfast is also served from 7, unusually early for many Uruguayan hotels but perfect for those starting the day early. Communication to make some adjustment to my booking was also good.

Very disappointed in this hotel. Impersonal and very old. Doubtful carpeting in the room, no power outlet around the bed to plug phones or computers. Very dirty shower joints. Only the bed is comfortable. A balcony goes all around the building without separation between the rooms, it is not good for security or privacy. The pool is not clean, the breakfast mediocre. The bread and croissants were stale.
No coffee maker in the room, tiny shower room. The view is pretty and overlooks the river but the street is very noisy, motorcycles and cars pass all night making a hellish noise. No double glazing. The air conditioning exchangers are on the balcony and make a lot of noise. And all for 100 USD a night. It's too expensive.

The hotel is wonderfully located for enjoying the waterfront, the sunsets.
Strongly recommended: visiting the former Anglo meat-packing plant (now a museum) and taking the panoramic road to Las Cañas.
The town is not a place for sophisticated living but for relaxation. You will feel welcome at all times.
Also, while visiting Fray Bentos we never felt the slightest concern about personal security.

This was rated the best (out of two) in Fray Bentos. We found it dirty and in desperate need of a face lift. We switched rooms due to a leaky air conditioner and both rooms smelled of sewer gas. A towel over the floor drain in the bathroom took care of that. The beds are small. Was unable to operate the safe and 1 of the 3 lights was burned out in the room. Extremely difficult to lock the sliding glass door which was on street level. The breakfast which was included was very rudimentary with low quality baked goods, cold cuts and juice. The pool area was nice and the staff are lovely.

The room looked ok actually. A bit like a Travelodge in the UK. The drains were stinky though and the shower leaked.
The beds were comfy and the room was cleaned each day.
Most of the staff members were friendly.
The breakfast was pretty grim and unsanitary and rather worryingly, I saw staff putting used glasses back with the fresh ones.
We came to see the old factory nearby and this was probably the best bet.
