Located on the main square of town. Pretty basic in all needs - simple breakfast, hot shower, good beds, and a very decent price. But, all rooms are on second floor - anything facing the plaza will be the road noise. If you are looking for a place to spend a night and move on, this is the place for you. On a down note, the in-room ice box was being de-frosted. The carpet was wet for the entire time we were there.

Hotel is located on the main square. Price is great. Rooms are pretty basic. Service extremely friendly. Bed was hard and breakfast nice. I do recommend it if you need to cross the border late at night. Very well priced

The Plaza was better than ok. Great value for money; good location ( esp to walk to El Anglo and to the bus terminal); breakfast was very self-service (set your own place), but, as has already been commented, with freshly squeezed orange juice.
To my mind, the Plaza is much better value than it's sister establishment – the Posada or the Gran Hotel.
To eat just wander down the road towards the river or try the 'shacks' alongside the Plaza opposite.

Muy mala experiencia, nos dieron una pieza antigua y chiquita que parecia un pasillo, la primera con olor a cigarrillo, pedimos el cambio y nos dieron otra con olor a humedad. No lo recomiendo.
We had a very bad experience at Plaza Hotel. The rooms are very old and small. The first room they gave us had a terrible cigarette smell, so we asked to change. The second room wasn't much better, smelled like mold and humidity. For $50 USD a night they are robbing you. Fray Bentos is a very small town, there's no need to stay here based on "location".

We stayed here just one night before visiting the Museo de la Revolucion Industrial. The rooms may be a little dated, but the bed was really comfortable and the bathroom had a good shower. Breakfast was plentiful, with yoghurt and cakes as well as the normal bread and pastries. And fresh orange juice!
The Receptionist let us leave our bags at the hotel for the day, and when we came back, they were happy for us to make and prepare our sandwiches in the cafe area, providing us with plates and cutlery.
The hotel is right on the square in Fray Bentos, nice and central.
