Considering staying here? Beware. This place is difficult to review. There are some great points: - the domes are a great concept - Juan the owner is a warm, friendly character and speaks English pretty well (for those travellers who don’t speak Spanish or Rapa Nui) - Breakfast is enjoyable at the restaurant’s open air dining area, but inconsistent. However the concept has significant drawbacks that we have not read in other reviews. - the domes let in all the noise of the surrounding neighbourhood: scooters, trucks, horns, roosters, Kari Kari club drumming etc - the domes (in Oct) were stiflingly HOT during the daytime until 6 or 7pm. Air con almost nonexistent. We couldn’t be inside until bedtime. - steps up to the elevated platform are NOT suitable for young kids. We had to carry them up and down. - pool fencing is NOT safe - a new dog bit our youngest (3 year old). Whilst it didn’t draw blood, it was a huge shock. The owners responded reasonably well by keeping it out of sight for our remaining stay. Valeria seemed to be permanently scowling at something. Without Juan, we would not have enjoyed our stay. Breakfast on the second day lacked a lot of things that were provided on the first. We asked for cereal and yoghurt and were told they didn’t have any. We stayed here because our other accommodation didn’t have a availability on these two nights. We would’ve been very disappointed if this were our only experience of Rapa Nui accommodation. …
Mamma Nui is a wonderful place to stay. I spent 6 nights and 5 days on Easter Island and I wish I could go back. This place is great for solo travelers, families, couples, really anyone and everyone. The location is perfect, very close to town and easy to walk to everything. The dome I stayed in was great, it had everything I needed including a fridge in the room with drinks. The bed was comfortable and I got great sleep every night. They provide excellent service and the room is cleaned everyday. Breakfast was included everyday with my stay and that was great. The food was wonderful and fresh every morning. On top of the food the view from the porch made breakfast even better. They picked me up and dropped me off to the airport and it made my stay even better and worry free. I would stay here again and again. Not only is it a great value and a wonderful place to stay, the family the runs it are so kind, generous, and lovely which made the stay even more incredible. I can't recommend this place enough.…
Mamma Nui is the most amazing place to stay on Easter Island and I would recommend it to any couple wishing to have a special experience of the beautiful island of Rapa Nui. We arrived after 2 days of traveling and were greeted by the most wonderful waitress smiling from ear to ear. She got us a welcome drink and ran us through the important basics of the island and culture. From then until the end of our 3 night stay we could not fault the hotel. The breakfast each day was yummy and very authentic with fresh juice served each day. There was a real sense of family in the hotel and we really enjoyed the personal approach taken by the staff. We had our own outside area of the hotel and one day got back from the beach and enjoyed a Pina colada in the sunshine. Nothing was too much trouble, the lady who owner the hotel offered to order us a taxi, allowed us to leave our bags at the hotel on our day off checkout and even offered us local knowledge and advice. We were there for our honeymoon which was made extra special by our lovely accommodation, you should definitely visit, we will be back for our 20th wedding anniversary if not before!! …
We stayed in this beautiful domo for 3 nights- and it certainly put the 'glam' into glamping! Mini bar, aircon, bathroom & hammock/sitting area underneath our private balcony with beach views. We were picked up from the airport and greeted with friendliness, welcome drink & a snack. The domo was beautifully presented, clean and comfortable. A lovely breakfast was served each morning in the restaurant. The owners were more than accomodating to meet any of our needs- we were overwhelmed with their kindness and care during our stay. Mamma Nui is in a perfect location & their glamping style accomodation is a fantastic way to spend time on this unique island.
Mamma Nui was one of the best places I stayed at during my entire trip to South America. From the moment we got picked up from the airport, we felt at home for the entire duration of our 5 days stay. Prior to our arrival we exchanged a few email with the owner Valeria and she was always quick and helpful with her replies. She helped us organise a car rental and a tour of the island on the day we arrived. The domos are really spacious and offer a great view of the ocean from the platform. The domo was cleaned daily and was always spotless. Juan and Valeria were both really friendly and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay. One day we left really early to see the sunrise so they packed a nice picnic basket for us. And on our last day they even gave us a little farewell gift - all these little things made our stay really special. I would stay there again. Iorana Mamma Nui!…
