we stayed 3 nights at hotel otai.overall we stayed happily.rooms are on grond floor.which means no sound from upstairs.large beds large room.large bathroom.and clean.beatiful garden and good swimming pool.plus convinient location close to shore restaurants but small town anyway.front of the room a large terrace is really useful.wat can be improved.firstly there is no tea ,coffee, beer to buy one night we asked reception any possibility to drink tea nice lady prepared for us from her heater and own tea with her mugs.but they sould give this service.and brekfast is average not bad ,but location is a bit boring we had our breakfasts at outside under shelter even when raining .you can also catch internet at outside next to reception.overall we satisfied staying hotel otai.
Great hotel with beautiful garden, good rooms, and great walking distance to ocean, main Street, and bank. Staff speak English, pickup from airport was timely, and we really couldn't ask for a better value - no complaints - especially considering we are on an island in the middle of the pacific! Air-conditioning works great as well.
Although Hotel O’tai is surrounded by beautiful flower gardens and is located right in town, our experience was most unpleasant. We woke up the first morning to find small ants in our bathroom. The lovely receptionist immediately changed our room. The following morning we woke up to find small ants in our Bed! The manager immediately became defensive saying all of Easter Island has ants. We know this wasn’t true as we were touring with people from other hotels & no one had ants!
The hotel wouldn't be a "2" in the US, but there are adjustments you have to make on remote islands. The rooms are damp, the remodeling was done by someone that didn't have a clue, the pool was ice cold & the chickens woke us up every morning at 6am. They didn't charge us for internet, but you had to be around the office to get service. The food was pretty good & the grounds very nice & well kept.
This is a solid choice in an island with very limited options for accomodation. It is located centrally and most restaurants/shopping are within a short walk from the hotel. It has the basic items- airconditioning, refrigerator and safe in rooms. Rooms are dated but they are clean with lovely garden around. I did not have problems with noise at night. Sleep quality was good but they could use some new mattress and pilows. The breakfast was adequate with scrambled eggs and delicious pancakes. They do offer Wifi for a small fee but you have to be near the office to use it. Wifi was overall bad in the island but I did not go to Easter Island to surf the web. Considering we were at the hotel only to sleep at night, it was a good choice to stay,
