The hotel is situated high above the river Usk with spectacular views. The grounds of the hotel are filled with all specimens of many types of trees and shrubs. There is provided a leaflet of a walk through the grounds identifying the trees for those interested Our small double room was...

The location is just stunning: the hotel is perched overlooking a glorious valley and fast moving river. There is nothing better that afternoon tea followed by a walk down by the river. Fantastic breakfast. They even have a full-size snooker table.

Situated at the end of a mile long drive through the woods the hotel overlooks the Usk about 200 yards below. We have been visiting for 15 years so know what to expect. The same family have been running it since 1946, and they know all about professional hospitality. The staff change but not the levels of service, they genuinely...

Birthday present for my girlfriend, we went during May bank holiday. Wonderful location in the forest, surrounded by trees, next to river, with beautiful gardens. High quality accommodation, friendly and competent staff, inspiring reading/fireplace room. Not far from nice Crickhowell village for pub and services. Starting point for walks and trips in Brecon Beacons National park. Not cheap but absolutely worth.

We were having a drive and saw the sign. I'd been told of the place. We drove along the road, into the hotel. Grounds were beautifully tended. Lovely colours. We asked about lunch and went to the conservatory. We had sandwiches. Not your normal boring sandwiches. But were very tasty and nicely presented. I'd love to stay here as is...

Amazing place and people, the fishing was hard work but very enjoyable, The views from the room were also breath taking. We can not wait to go back. The food was also very good. The syle of the hotel was amazing with the old funiture and the atmosphere was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in

Stayed just for one night (wish it was longer) for a weekend hiking the brecon beacons. Gliffaes was perfect. Fantastic setting & grounds, helpful staff, really nice bedrooms (we had a "petite classic" room, but it was just right), fantastic food both for our evening meal, and the breakfast... Highly recommended. We'll be back.

Super Easter Sunday lunch in this beautiful hotel was a special treat. Excellent wine list and fab menu made this a very special occasion to spend with family and friends. Highly recommended. A walk around the grounds to see the trees and the views of the River Usk rounded off the afternoon nicely. Just a shame we weren't staying for...
