Stayed here over the weekend of the 12/13 of May as we were attend a wedding. Had a really lovely room at the back so parking was extremely convenient for us. Breakfasts was very good especially the haddock and poached egg! Staff were friendly and courteous. The Bear is a great place to stay and full of character.

Cant complain we all had lovely food.. but it was nothing special for the price. We went for a 60th birthday a party of 12. Steak was average, a few had the chicken pies and we all had a lovely night. Staff were very friendly

Bad experience. Unhelpful to people with young children and quite frankly very rude! Very average and overpriced food - we paid £5.50 for a plate of plain pasta for one of my children. The bar staff were not sympathetic to children's needs despite saying that children are welcome. Don't bother going.

Standard basic double room needs a bit of livening up, but was clean. The room was at the front of the building and was quite warm and quite close to the road so noisey if you opend the windows. The staff were really great and plenty of them to serve at meal times, food came really quick and quite large...

Stayed at the hotel for 2 nights, whole experience amazing. We had a private dinner party in the back room overlooking the beautiful garden, the whole experience was amazing! Food, service ambience fantastic, could not fault anything. Did the previous reviewer go to the same place??? The hotel has much more than the BEAR NECCESSITIES. Would definitely go back.

I attended as part of a special Birthday function. Myself and my family had travelled over 2 hours to attend so as you'd imagine I was ready for my meal. What greeted me was a lump of goats cheese on what could have been a coaster....didn't think I needed a steak knife for a starter. Ah well.... looking forward to...

We wrote a letter a letter of complaint concerning an issue that arose when we attended The Bear for a private function to celebrate my mother's 70th birthday. Initially management didn't even have the courtesy to respond. Following writing for a second time the letter of response we had was appallingly rude and they made no apology whatsoever. We had...

Came to this lovely little village to visit a friend and stayed at the most marvellous accommodation. The staff were nothing short of excellent, nothing was a bother. The meals were great, the room was very comfortable and clean.

We called in Monday evening for a meal hoping we could get served. It was a Bank Holiday. We managed to find a table,we had our little dog with us,that means a lot to be able to take her. We ordered at the bar and didn't have to wait very long for our meal. 3 courses and we only waited...
