Our usual new year ever is sat in front of the television with a few nibbles. This year, though going out anywhere is expensive, we decided to book a nice hotel. The Metropole Temple Street is a family run hotel built 1896 facing the main street with parking at the rear. Retaining some of its original Victorian features the hotel...

Just back from Christmas trip to Metropole. I was on a coach trip and there several other coaches staying there. Although very busy, the service in the restaurants was slick and efficient and the food to a high standard. My room was clean and comfortable, with a modern bathroom. The heating was controllable individually, which is always a bonus as...

Arrived on Sunday 13th December immediately told I had been upgraded to a superior double room. I was delighted a lovely room with a big bed. The adjustable heating was great as it was a cold day when I arrived. The room was warm nicely decorated with a super bathroom, everything I needed. I enjoyed the bistro restaurant even though...

Just back from Christmas at the Metrepole, fantastic. I think the rooms have now had some upgrading (see previous review) most bathrooms seemed to be new, and beautifully fitted. Also several rooms had walk in shower. 2 lifts. Very comfortable. We were on a coach holiday and there were several parties there but the food while simplified from the full...

We stayed at the Metropole as a convenient base for taking a guided tour of the Hall at Abbey-Cwm-Hir nearby. The hotel is substantial in size and has plenty of parking (tip: when approaching the hotel on the left, drive past it, then turn left and left again to get to the hotel car park). Although the hotel building is...

We recently enjoyed a one night Gourmet evening at this hotel and really enjoyed it. It was really good value for money with a six course evening meal, room (we upgraded) and a full Welsh breakfast. The food was excellent and there was a lovely atmosphere, staff very pleasant and helpful. We also took advantage of the lovely swimming pool...

We booked this place three years ago for a romantic weekend and it hasn't changed one bit. The building is old and a bit tired in places with very heath robinson maintenance. Some of the rooms need updating and just some real TLC by professionals and not amateur decorators and tradesmen. Put that aside which is easily done and what...

Stay here on business, a nice room with a great bath and shower. The reception staff were friendly, helpful and competent, as were most of the staff in the hotel.my only slight grumble would be the buffet breakfast, I was shown to a table and asked if I wanted tea or coffee, no explanation that it was self serve. When...
