The Metropole is a grand traditional hotel of character, still run by the original family, with an excellent range of public rooms. My wife and I stayed here for one night on a midweek Travelzoo deal that included a superior room, a six-course taster evening meal and breakfast. With the dinner we paid extra for four glasses of wine each,...

This is a very large hotel and when we stayed, although it was very busy, we never felt the hotel was overcrowded or ignored because everyone was busy. The very professional and friendly staff allowed the hotel to run very smoothly. The rooms are comfortable and very clean. The food is delicious and the buffet breakfast is amazing! The hotel...

Parking was easy, reception staff were friendly and thoughtful (didn't mention an earlier flower delivery in my wife's presence). The room was large and comfortable, our lift experience was fine. Dinner was a six course taster dinner (including fillet steak), sufficient and enjoyable. The dining room staff were friendly and attentive. The last course was melted Camembert with frozen grapes....

Took advantage of special offer. Offered champagne as aperitif. Excellent food especially the taster menu. In fact as we stayed a extra days were offered this twice. All the staff were very inviting and couldn't do enough to help us. Bedroom not fancy but clean and more than adequate.

A good sized single room with all the usual amenities. Usual noise levels for a big hotel and the hotel was full. Receptionists very friendly and helpful. Ate in the restaurant both nights, lovely food and plenty of choice likewise breakfast buffet hot with good locally sourced ingredients. There is also a bistro type restaurant which I have previously used...

Good size rooms and comfy beds. There is food offered at the hotel that is reasonable and breakfast is offered as a cold buffet but can order warm food off a menu too. Swimming pool and jacuzzi also available. Noticed it was quite popular with coach operators!

When we arrived we were welcomed by reception, Our room was ready (236) so after check in we went up and unpacked. I treated my husband to another 2 night break here after the one we had enjoyed so much earlier in the year - I decided we would have a New Years break here so called the hotel and was informed the only rooms available were the towers which were much more expensive - but having spoken to the receptionist who...

We have returned from a travelzoo deal at this hotel and it was great. A really warm welcome from Abi at reception started us off feeling valued and all staff were friendly and helpful. We had a great tasting dinner with a glass of champagne on the first night and a good choice at breakfast where the buffet servers and...

I cannot emphasize enough how much we enjoyed our stay at Christmas. We booked two double rooms and a family room. The family room easily fitted us and our four children with space to spare. The staff couldn't do enough to help, and made us all feel so welcome. We booked the Gourmet Taster break, and the food was absolutely...
