I rang to book afternoon tea for my elderly and disabled Mother's birthday . I requested a table in the lounge , to avoid stairs into the dining room . I was told this could not be guaranteed and my Mother could be taken through the kitchen service area to avoid stairs . I said I didn't think this was...

Hotel, room, grounds, restaurant all beautiful. Spa incredibly relaxing, highly recommend. Best full body massage ever (louise I think?), flotation tank wonderful experience. Just wish we could visit more often!

This hotel has perhaps seen better days, but the staff are charming, service is good and everything was clean. We dined in the restaurant and the food was very good though not exceptional. As long as you require a relaxed, quiet atmosphere (I do), I am sure you will be pleased.

I have just returned from an overnight dinner, bed and breakfast package in spa room. Set in a lovely little village, this hotel is a mix of traditional and modern. I'm pleased to have chosen a Spa Suite instead of a room in the main house as it was wonderful; modern and extremely well appointed. The views across the countryside...

We booked a 2 night DB&B stay. We have not been to Ockenden Manor before but the website showed a sumptuous hotel and spa with lots to offer. The Hotel is oldy worldy with a roaring log fire at the entrance which was welcoming on a very chilly day. We were shown to our room (Luke) which didn't have the...

For those seeking a quiet, understated but luxurious weekend away from the bustle of everyday urban life Ockenden Manor provides an excellent solution. Having experienced many country house hotels within a 25-mile radius of Brighton Ockenden proved to be one of the most enjoyable for a weekend on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis, tucked away in a quite corner...

I'd ideally like to review Ockenden as 3.5 stars or 'good' as opposed to average or very good but for the purpose of the review, I've gone for average. We stayed on a Sunday night on a half board basis. The room (Thomas) was one of the most interesting rooms I've ever stayed in with sloping floors, low beams, lots...

We stayed in the newer part of the hotel above the beautiful spa which was wonderfully quiet and relaxing. The room was luxurious and the amenities like the walk in shower and roof top balcony with panoramic views across the downs were just what was needed to start off the New Year recharged and ready to work

We had a Spa room which was excellent if a little far from the hotel on a wet cold night. The problem we had was in the dining room where my wife ordered a Medium/Rare steak which arrived Rare -this was after a wait of 2 hours for a starter and main. The staff apologised but by then we didn't want a...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Ockenden Manor is a charming and tranquil Elizabethan Manor House tucked away in Cuckfield, one of the prettiest Tudor villages in England. With its history and character, elegant sitting room warmed by a roaring log fire and cosy, wood panelled bar, it's a wonderful place to escape to and yet it is just an hour from London and 20 minutes drive from Gatwick. The hotel is set in nine acres of peaceful gardens and parkland with views across the West Sussex countryside to the South Downs and some of the great gardens and stately homes of Sussex and Kent are within easy reach. ... more   less
