17 Feb Millers at the Anchor is such a wonderful place, a fantastic interior which is weird wonderful and cozy. Found a cozy corner next to a roaring fire and ordered lunch. The food was outstanding and the staff very good Totally recommended

We travel a lot and due to time constraints could only steal a few days away for my birthday so were determined to seek out this hotel after being recommended . It was everything I had hoped for, quirky, unique, relaxing escapism , truly eccentric and perfectly us. We paid full price as we deliberately sought this hotel out and...

A fantastic place with its own character and charm albeit not to everyone's taste as you do get the impression us mere mortals are just paying for the privilege of being in someone's eclectic home. Having said that the place offers wonderful food and drinks as well as some interesting deals like dinner and movie night in their extremely comfortable...

We stayed here after getting a deal on secret escapes and so felt that it was worth the money. We do not feel that it is worth the reduced from price on secret escapes. It is a very eclectic decor and so a little oppressive in my view, but that is a personal taste issue. The walks surrounding the area...

Admittedly it was an out of season visit, but all very disappointing. The hotel is filthy and the food was awful. Such a shame as it could be an enchanting place, but based on our experience I couldn't recommend it all.

We booked to stay in this hotel for a walking holiday with my brother and his wife and their dog It is a beautiful old-fashioned hotel not to everyone's liking with it crammed full of antiques and not as clinically clean as some people like but for us it was perfect the rooms were great although not spotlessly clean ....

Book for a high tea at Millers in advance. Then enjoy an avalanche of treats and fancies with as much tea as you can manage. I visited with my 87 year old mother and nothing was too much trouble. Inexpensive in comparison to other places offering high tea, great homely atmosphere, west country quirky and a truly beautiful location.

Weekend away with partner. Arrived 9pm in a Friday, bit of confusion about the booking and slight wait to get room sorted. Room had sea view but was not prepared: no tea/coffee stuff or toiletries. Quite cold and strong paint smell. We have visited a few times before but not stayed. Can't fault the interior space and decor. The live...

I love this place, so do all of my family. Fab location, amazing views. The style of the hotel is very quirky, packed full of antiques and curio. Great bar, serving my favourie gin, Martin Miller's. We've had two great stays here and can't wait for our next.

I have stayed three times at Millers in the past three years each for three nights on one of their DBB deals with three nights for the price of two. We also took our ancient pooch. Whilst the bedrooms (we had a pooch friendly one so it might not have been the nicest) might look a bit tired and the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
For over 200 years the Anchor has served Porlock Weir's 15th-century harbor for sailors, walkers and huntsmen alike. Where Exmoor meets the sea, Porlock Weir is an idyllic working harbor with stunning coastal views. Martin Miller together with his daughter Tanya have created a hunting lodge by the sea. This 14-bedroom hotel is crammed with Martin's antiques and curiosities. The Anchor has all the hallmarks of his unique style. Roaring log fires, candlelit sensuality, books by the thousand and bowls of fruit and sweets, all washed down with a Millers award winning Gin and tonic. ... more   less
