We stayed with friends, over a weekend and could not have had a better break. Hotel is a typical Scottish hunting lodge with everything we could have wished for: Amazing views (and yes, room 3 was the room we stayed in as per previous reviewers) with varied weather the light changed accordingly and gave a different perspective each time. Service...

I love this Lodge! It is beautiful outside, welcoming inside, the food is very good, the gin bar supreme. Room 3 is fabulous, where else can you wake up and watch seals playing in the water before breakfast??! It is truly magical. The gentleman host was warm and welcoming, the lounge areas peaceful and homely. The only downside is it's...

What a fantastic place. Arrived quite early, about three o'clock and we were greeted by a lovely gent who we think is called Ismet. He showed us round the hotel and we could really tell that he loves the place (he's not the owner). He took the time to show us the lounge, the bar, the billiard room and the...

Beautifully located - great view of bay with its seals . We had a bay facing room which was lovely. Hotel staff welcoming and friendly and sitting room , library , and snooker room all very comfortable . Unfortunately the food was quite disappointing - unimaginative , overcooked , fairly tasteless and no vegetarian option . Also piped music -...

From the moment you arrive, you realise that you are in a very special place. The manager, Mearns makes a real effort to welcome you, and to realise that he and the staff will make you comfortable during your stay. As for location, we could watch seals playing in the bay that lapped the front garden of the lodge. There...

A warm welcome, lovely country house feel, quiet, good service, good food, a great place for a short break. Even if the weather is bad, there's couple of very comfortable lounges and a bar with some whiskies I'd never heard of. The only small downside was a very poor conversion of our room (room 4, one of the bast) to...

Lovely spot off the beaten path. We were lucky enough to have the place to ourself when we stayed. The manager was super friendly and made sure we felt at home. The reception rooms are very nicely decorated, we loved sitting by the fire in the bar having some drinks and chatting. The view is beautiful and it was so...

We had stayed at Shieldaig Lodge many times under 2 sets of previous owners/managers, but had had a break of 9 or 10 years. The Lodge had needed taking in hand and bringing up to date, difficult to do without spoiling the character of the Lodge. The new owners have pretty well succeeded. It was lovely to be back and...

The lodge has been beautifully restored with great attention to detail. Our room was spacious, very comfortable and very nicely furnished, with views over the lough. The food was average - nothing special. The manager was very welcoming, but the place lacked the standards of an owner managed small hotel. The staff we encountered varied from inexperienced to seriously lacking...

We booked a three night midweek stay at the Shieldaig Lodge on the recommendation of a friend who has been there earlier in the year. It did not disappoint. The drive by Loch Maree en route to the hotel is stunning, as is the setting of the Lodge, on the waterfront. We were greeted on arrival by Charmaine and Mearns,...
