superb location right on the high street, just as you enter the village. there is free parking outside (if you can get in, but we have never had a problem) all downstairs has now been beautifully decorated and added an even better vibe to an already superb place. have also been informed that they are totally renovating the bedrooms from...

We called in for Sunday lunch yesterday and ordered the carvery of 3 roasts, beef, lamb and pork. The waitress was very pleasant taking our order and we did not have too long to wait before the meal arrived. The generous roasts were served on a wooden platter with a carving knife (a very nice idea!) They were accompanied by...

Stayed for three nights with a small golf society. Owner is quite forward looking..has turned part of the Pub/Hotel into an excellent Pizzeria..whole ground floor of the premises have been extensively modernised..tastefully done. The upstairs rooms are perfectly adequate..clean, but will apparently be completely refurbished over the next month or so. The menu is brilliant, with specials each day..very reasonably...

I was in room "Tern" for 1 night while doing Coast & Castles Cycle route. The room was small, tired & in need of a good clean. The bathroom had a moldy damp smell. The Pasta Carbonara I had for my evening meal, however, was beautiful. The breakfast was also nice. I booked the room in January & informed the...

We looked for somewhere for Sunday lunch in Alnmouth, and to be honest most of the restaurants only seemed to have snacky type meals. We looked into the Hope and Anchor to be greeted by a very smiley young lady and shown to a table. The decor was surprisingly modern for an old building. The carvery was fantastic with some...

We stayed at the Hope & Anchor a couple of weeks ago (Aug 2015) and got a great deal for 3 nights bed & breakfast. All the rooms are named after sea birds (ours was 'Teal'). The room was fairly small but it had plenty of storage and was warm and comfortable. The free wifi is not great and the...

When you arrive at the hotel, the first battle is finding parking (not something the hotel can help with, but be warned - we parked perfectly legally on both nights and received a charming note from the Alnmouth welcome committee). However, once you're in, you are directed through the restaurant - which looks recently refurbished and is quite smart. The...

The restaurant is lovely and the evening meal we had delicious. We all lived the pasta we ordered. Breakfast was good and the service throughout was very good. However, the room was poor. Everything needs a good make over and thorough clean. Bed was comfortable, nice bath products and clean towels. The bathroom dates back to 70s, I think. Such...

This was our 3rd visit to the H&A, the last one being 3 years ago. The room we had then was 'ok' & when my wife told me the place had been refurbished (ok she read it wrong) we were eager to return, however it's a disappointment. The bar/restaurant has been refurbed & is now an 'upmarket' Italian bistro type...

Stayed here for weekend with friends. Our room it was extremely shabby and grubby. The carpets were heavily patterned, one wall was patterned in a lurid flowery paper, another yellow, another in gloss red. The bathroom had paper falling from the walls and was dirty. Infact the one good feature as a door in the far corner which allowed you...
