This was our first visit to the Ship Inn and we look forward to returning. There was a very warm welcome for us and our dog. A pot of tea and delicious cakes were just perfect. A quirky tea room certainly worth a visit.

We couldn't believe our luck when we saw the sign 'Tea Room Open' just when we were flagging, whilst walking to Staithes from Sandsend. Lovely cup of tea, delicious cakes, a warm welcome and all at reasonable prices. Definitely make this a place to refresh whilst walking the Cleveland way or whenever in the area. Roaring fire and charming hosts....

Called here, after a walk from Staithes along the cliff top path, one weekend as the tea room is only open on Saturdays and Sundays. Had great home made chocolate and beetroot cake and the children had lovely home made lemonade. Lovely garden to sit in if weather permits. Owners were charming and very helpful. Would recommend.

Whenever we stay nearby at the local campsite, we always call into The Ship Inn for a lunchtime cuppa and a piece of cake. The cakes are always freshly made, great value and good size portions. Its a lovely little tea room set in an old pub, with comfy couches, lots of magazines to read and antiques to buy should...

The reviews are all true. We stayed at the Ship Inn for one night and received a very warm welcome from Jane and Tom. Both the room and breakfast was superb and we would recommend this to anyone who wants a comfortable and homely place to stay. Additionally, the Ship's tearoom had a variety of delicious homemade cakes which we...

We didn't have many expectations when booking, but once we arrived we were blown away by the service and general upkeep of The Ship Inn, from the wonderful hosts to the lovely food (cakes galore!) our weekend couldn't have been any better! The Ship Inn is ideally positioned 2 minutes from the coastal path that takes you down to Port...

This was our 2nd visit to The Ship Inn & certainly wont be the last. The first thing that greets you as you walk in to the tearoom is the charming ambience of the place. A cosy wood burning stove & the feeling of being in a country kitchen. The owners are welcoming & so obliging. There is a delightful...

On a cold windy day, we were ready for a sit down whilst walking the cliff path near Staithes. A tearoom was signposted from the coastal path, so we gave it a try. We were so glad we did. The cosy tearoom had an open fire, and we were made very welcome. The stem ginger cake came recommended by other...

The Ship Inn is one of my most favourite places ever. Tom and Jane are just lovely, you are made to feel so welcome. Jane's baked cheesecake is like a gift from god, its just amazing and Tom informed me that I hold the record for the amount of glasses of homemade lemonade drunk in one sitting. Sundays can never...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to our family-run bed and breakfast. We're a small, former village inn in the hamlet of Port Mulgrave - near to Staithes. We have two comfortable, stylish bedrooms, with en-suite shower rooms. We also operate a tea room, for which we bake our own cakes (including our famous cheesecake) and bread. The freshly baked bread is part of the daily breakfast. We serve it with a selection of local produce, mainly organic, and cereals. ... more   less
