I took a friend here for Sunday lunch after a good walk. He enjoyed a delicious roast, and I had a fairly average smoked haddock risotto. The service was not so great. The barman was very unfriendly and the pub therefore lacked warmth. We didn't feel at all welcome really.

Stayed here for 2 nights with 4 other golfers. My room in the courtyard was spacious, clean and quiet. Plenty of towels, tea making facilities, in fact everything you want from a hotel room. The bar was cosy with a log fire burning away, great selection of beers and helpful and courteous staff. The food was excellent although a little...

They had just got a new chef and launched a new menu when we visited and couldnt fault it. Good range of choice across courses and each dish was great. The service was efficient and friendly. Again couldnt want for more. The hotel room was simple and well maintained. A nice get away recommended to all.

We stay on a Saturday night with a group of friends eight of us in total. The pub is very traditional and a little bit dark when you first walk in, but once you get used to it, you see the real charm of the place. Our room was very clean and warm with an immaculate on suite bathroom. We...

Spent a recent weekend here with my wife. We loved the location of the Blue Lion and the facilities were wonderful. The food was excellent and the beer was good too! On the whole the staff were excellent, very friendly Scotsman managed the restaurant and our young waitress was very friendly and helpful - the exception to this rule was...

Spent a wonderful evening at this great hotel in the Yorkshire Dales national park. There's a small bar area where you can also eat but if you can book for the dining room it's well worth it. The room is amazing, with views over the garden. The staff were friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The menu is packed with...

Just had a few days at the Blue Lion with our friends and our little dog Scrabble. Lovely place & people, very welcoming. We stayed in the annex , although a bit dark in the room , very clean & comfortable. Dog was treated like a king. Food in the restaurant was lovely and the staff very friendly and a...

We have stayed at the Blue Lion a few times over the last 3 years sometimes with our dogs and on this occasion without them. We have actually been given the same room each time we have stayed so can see the changes that have occurred. On this occasion we were disappointed with the cleanliness of the room, even the...

We have been holidaying in Wensleydale for many years and know the area and facilities well but had never before been to the Blue Lion. So after a gorgeous week in a lovely cottage we decided to stay somewhere for another night to round off our latest holiday. Given its long standing, excellent reputation we decided to give The Blue...
