The White Hart Hotel garners praise for its cleanliness and comfortable, well-equipped rooms, with guests often satisfied by the tranquil atmosphere and tasteful decor. However, the experience is sometimes marred by noise from nearby bars and a lively pub within the hotel. While the staff is generally commended for their helpfulness, there are occasional remarks about inconsistent service. The amenities are well-regarded, though some guests note minor shortcomings. Visitors are divided on the hotel's value, but many appreciate its central location and the scenic river views it offers.

Returning to Boston after over 20 years, we were delighted to find this oasis in a now distressed town. The historic hotel is situated on the tidal Witham river, with a great seating area outside. Being a very old hotel means there is no lift and many small sets of steps up to our room. Understandably there are some uneven floors.

The accommodation was finished to a high standard with rooms containing everything you could want - high quality ensuite with proper shower, good tea making items, fan, iron & ironing board, plenty of sockets, space & chair to work, telly, comfortable chair, large comfortable bed. As part of The Coaching Inn Group there was also a Roberts radio, bath mat, top quality toiletries, and even a little yellow duck to add to your bath.

The staff were exceptional: reception, cleaning staff, waiting staff - everyone was friendly and helpful. It was great to stay and eat somewhere with adequate staff, who were well trained and happy. The catering was done properly, you felt there really was a chef in the kitchen.

For us, a perfect room has opening windows. Bliss. Ours had two, plus another in the bathroom, all with great river views. The downside, for some, may have been that this would allow the music and chat from the busy pub area to flood the room. Fortunately, we were there mid-week and only had a flavour of the noise on Thursday night. (It stopped by 11:30pm) An excellent 3 night stay.

We just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to Gemma and all staff as we had the BEST wedding day at this hotel!

The whole wedding planning process was an absolute breeze. Gemma was so calm and chilled the whole time which really helped to put us at ease and trust her!

Several of the guests commented on how lovely and polite all the staff were during the day. The waiting staff during the meal were so professional and efficient whilst smiling and chatting with everyone too! It was so lovely to see and was very well organised.

The bar staff during the evening were also very helpful and made us feel like nothing was too much trouble for them – this includes the staff downstairs at the bar, as well as upstairs. All of our decorations were stored carefully and safely ready for us the next morning.

The young lady at breakfast did a brilliant job serving everyone quickly and making sure everyone was happy. Again, my guests were very impressed her efforts!

The food was absolutely delicious so a massive thank you to your chef and kitchen staff. The sticky toffee pudding was one of my actual highlights of the day! Thank you for catering to my gluten-free needs so well, I really appreciate it.

The cleaning staff were so friendly and one of the ladies even helped me carry my bag which was so kind – the rooms were spotless and so comfortable.

The day ran so smoothly – if there were any hiccups or problems, then I was not aware of it so thank you! There is nothing but praise from our family and friends. We cannot thank you all enough. Please pass on our gratitude to everyone!

We have just returned from a fantastic stay at The White Hart, (23rd/24th May). We were in a Superior Double which was fabulous with a huge bathroom and a very comfortable bed. The room was extremely clean with lots of extras such as bottled water, quality toiletries, biscuits, good coffee etc.

Dining was exceptional, beautiful food (I can recommend the slow cooked Shepherds Pie) and at a very reasonable price. Breakfast was cooked to order which we enjoyed as it was all hot and with lots of menu options. There was also a continental buffet, which you could help yourself to, which again had lots of choice.

A 'big shout out' has to go to the staff as they were all very friendly and welcoming. The young man who served us both for breakfast and dinner was excellent and he clearly enjoyed his job. He was extremely knowledgeable, professional and deserves a pay rise - I just wish I knew his name!

Thanks to everyone for an amazing stay, you really made my birthday special and we will return for sure.

This hotel deserves a mention for exceeding expectations and with very little to improve on and that seems to be rare these days. We had a warm and efficient welcome on arrival. The room was a very good size, spotlessly clean and with all the bits that make somewhere feel higher quality - crisp white linen, feather duvet, high end toiletries and drinks/snacks and music system/tv in the room. We also dined in the restaurant and the menu was simple, but done very well, with a good selection of drinks and again welcoming and efficient service. The hotel was also well located to the town centre and access to the shops and St. Botolphs Church. Would highly recommend and thanks to the team for making our weekend away.

On the 27th July 2024 Stuart & Claire had our Wedding reception with yourselves. The Bridal Suite was very poor. Yes the room was clean and tidy BUT there is no view to speak of ,from any of the windows unless you like looking out at a car park , an empty supermarket, and an alleyway. In the Brides opinion the bridal suite should be somewhere overlooking the front of the Hotel and the Stump. Room 102 is perfect for this. The dimmer switch itself came off in the brides hand and she got grease on her hand. The toilet had a rather wonky seat. The bedside lights did not work, or if they did we couldn't figure out how to get them to work.

The Bride and Groom were VERY dissapointed and upset about the Function room. The room itself was perfect for the amount of guests we had coming. Unfortunately we were not impressed that we had BLACK serviettes instead of the white we had stipulated. Also we had to wait 10 minutes or more until a memeber of staff found a knife to cut the cake. WE were stood around like moronswaiting. The cutting of the cake itself was very bad. It was hacked to pieces . When they came back in with the cake, instead of going round to each guest with the hacked cake and serviette they just piled it high and dumped it on the end of the buffet table. This is not acceptable. As it happened, one of our guests nearly choked on part of one of the flower tubes used to hold the flowers on the cake. This should not have been missed as they were 11cms long. Also most of our guests left early or went across to Wetherspoons because of the extortionate price of drinks. We were expecting the drinks in the function room to at least equal Wetherspoons. You lost a lot of trade that night as everyone had left by 10.30pm. This Hotel is trading on past glories.

Our room was ready early and we were absolutely delighted to see that it was very large and very beautiful...the bathroom even had a rubber duck on the back rack (as well as a separate shower). It was spotlessly clean and the provisions within the room went a step further than expected with the addition of Lavendar & Chamomile pillow spray.

The breakfast was absolutely divine, cooked to order and we, honestly, struggled to find fault with the place.

Additionally, there was a super-cute touch with the provision of a water bowl and tennis ball for our dog! She didn't end up joining us on this occasion, but we will definitely be returning and will feel more than happy and confident to come as a full family next time - paws and all!

Thank you for a truly wonderful stay!

Stayed for one night in one of the suites. Room was lovely, clean, and a good size. Classical music playing on the radio when we arrived, bottles of water in the room, just nice touches. Good sized bathroom, and nice toiletries. Breakfast was nice, good selection and nice restaurant. Parking available too. Would definitely come again.

Excellent position for visitor to town. Food brilliant. Staff all welcoming. Even with bands and entertainment in hotel the rooms were very quiet and we were well pre informed by e-mail and on arrival to events being on and finishing at a reasonable time. The room floor boards need a bit of attention as they creak when walking around and more than likely disturb rooms below. The room is well supplied for morning or evening tea/coffee/chocolate, and the the bathroom with condiments.Could do with access to porter as no lift.

The white hart at Boston is a wonderful character filled hotel , we stayed on the 28th for one night visiting friends and family.
The room (200) is spacious clean and very comfortable , I particular like the touch with the radio being on at arrival which makes a nice welcoming feature.

The breakfast is excellent we had our small dog with us so we ate in the adjoining bar area which is a short walk from the main restaurant. The order is taken and the food duly arrived piping hot , and very delicious. The quality of the poached eggs both my wife’s and my own weren’t be commended. Not an easy task poached eggs but the kitchen didn’t let you down. The buffet section is well stocked with pastries , fruit juice and toast making facility.

The staff are very friendly and welcoming as are the cleaning staff who offered pleasant smiles and hellos and good mornings which is not always done but the staff did your hotel proud.
A wedding function was on and we had a sneak inside the function room , this is somewhere I would definitely recommend if you wanted to hold a function , it has its own bar and is on the 1st floor.

I’m not sure if disabled people are accommodate but not being disabled myself I didn’t notice any stair lifts or lifts but the Hotel dates back to 1200’s so would be difficult to post add these features.

All in all an excellent stay Thankyou

Whilst the hotels location is great for Boston and in parts the hotel is good, there are a lot of things that arent..

Shower - far too noisy... must have woken up those next door. Sounds like a rocket engine

Room Temp - radiator off but hot water pipes made the room unbearably hot. Fan was provided but this was rickety and made as much noise as the shower.

Service - No the young lady serving us breakfast was great and whilst serving our breakfast and dinner for large parties she was courteous, polite and friendly. But she simply wasnt given enough support... with one lady openingly boasting to a guy at the bar about her 5 star background whilst ignoring customers that were there, to waiting 15 plus minutes to be seen by anyone at the check in desk or bar, the service in the main was slow and with a heads down approach.

I know the industry is going through a tough time at the mo, but a front of house team of 3 which we saw, if on the ball, would have been sufficient in the main. Just unfortunate the the younger lady was seemingly given most of the work to do.

I imagine this place in nice enough in the summer but it clearly lives on the fact its the main place in boston, not because its great....

George, A little late I know but there is free parking at the back of the hotel(limited spaces but not usually a problem). Register at reception and they give you a ticket for your car window. Hopefully you went anyway and enjoyed it as much as I did. I must say though, I am currently stopping in another Coaching Inn Hotel at Stilton, just off of the A1 near Peterborough. The food is to die for. The Bell Hotel, Stilton.

Can anyone feedback what the afternoon tea here is like please?
Answer from Trail02895403060
I visited yesterday. I found it average for this hotel with limp sandwiches, crumbling scones and a poor selection of sweet treats which consisted of a piece of fudge, a tiny eclair which had been defrosted in the fridge and therefore tasted of its contents and a small mince pie. £24.00 for two people...I will not be partaking again.
