We stayed here for a night as part of a walking holiday. The Mad Hatter's room is very funky, with lots of hats to try on! It's got a great view over the town & the hotel is really well located. The bed was very comfortable with lovely linen. The bathroom was quite small but very well planned to make the... More

The shabby exterior fortunately isn't matched by the interior. The rooms are quirky and perfectly adequate and well equipped. The bed very comfortable - double, not king size as advertised. Unusually no cooked breakfast but the hamper was good, although nowhere to sit in comfort to eat it in the room. Appreciated fresh milk, fruit and juice and espresso machine,... More

Great location in the centre of Lyme. We stayed in room 4 which has not yet been done up and I hope when it is they retain its light, airy charm. The bed is really comfy with lovely, crisp bed linen. Room 4 has a little room off the bedroom with a sofa and little table which was great for... More

We stayed here for one night and stayed in the reading/book themed room and had a warm welcome. It was a lovely quirky room and the facilities are very good. Good quality nibbles and drinks. (And fresh milk for your tea). A few people have complained about the road noise and noise in the house. I don't think many people... More

We booked in here at late notice on our wedding anniversary. Really glad we did. From booking, to checking in to the room (room 4 with a small lounge area to the side) to setting in the whole experience was great. In addition to a great place to stay, you get a discount at the Oyster and Fish house -... More

We stayed here as part of our On Foot Holiday. We loved our 'library' room. It was clean, large and the books just added to the atmosphere. The hotel is well located at the top of the hill, close to restaurants and shops. The staff were friendly and helpful.

We're a family of 4 with two young boys (9 & 6), so perhaps not ideal guests for a townhouse, but honestly we could not have been made to feel more welcome by the amazing, multi-talented front-of-house receptionist – Laura. Laura managed to come up with a very elegant solution to our accommodation challenge (there is a family room, but... More

We stayed here over the bank holiday weekend for an evening to celebrate my birthday, the town house is beautiful! The rooms are so cute with a lot of attention to detail, we stayed in room 8 and had the swan bed. We ate at Hix in the evening which was a short walk and had a fantastic meal, as... More

This is not your usual hotel. The rooms are different and room 1 probably the best as it has its own terraced area although your are able to use the other area as well. The breakfast is unusual as well with a hamper being delivered to your door at 8.30 am. The staff, in particular Laura, were extremely helpful in... More

What a beautiful and quirky Townhouse! Mark Hix has created beautifully designed rooms to suit all tastes without a doubt. We stayed in the fishing room for my birthday and it was so unique. We must have spent the first 10 mins walking around looking at all the objects, books and or course the 'make your own' Bloody Mary kit!... More
