We recently enjoyed a three night mid week break at this delightful family run hotel. We stayed in the Hawthorn suite which was spacious and had its own terrace to enjoy the afternoon sun. The staff are all discreetly friendly, the food delicious and well presented. There are plenty of comfy sofas around log fires to relax in if the...

I broke my knee very badly in August. My husband promised me a night away when I was able to walk again. We travelled all of twelve miles to stay here for their "Overnight Indulgence" - dinner, breakfast, a wonderful suite and two excellent massages in the recently opened treatment rooms. The experience met all our rather high expectations. The...

Me and my sister treated our mother to one night here and we stayed in the sweet chestnut cottage which was like home from home and really cosy. We could not fault the accommodation lovely comfortable beds and pillows so slept well. We had an evening meal in the restaurant and although a bit more pricey than what we normally...

This place has so much to offer. We had a fabulous lunch, with home made bread an added bonus as well as the exceptional service and relaxing ambience. 'Piece' of not much resistance was a very enjoyable massage in the Indonesian styled wellness centre. A very tranquil setting and very professional therapists. In fact every member of staff was extremely...

My wife and I wanted to escape the kids and enjoy two nights away in a quality hotel. I am delighted to say we couldn't have made a better choice. When we arrived at the hotel, the roaring fire in the lounge area and the welcoming, friendly nature of the staff instantly made us feel relaxed. We were shown to...

I had booked for afternoon tea to take a friend out for her birthday and had heard great things about this place. Arrived in the driving rain to a totally full car park so was parked in the overflow which meant a medium- long ish, muddy ish walk in the rain but was willing to get past that. Booking was...

I will start this response by suggesting this review is ridiculous, totally unfair, unjustified and totally against what trip advisor is all about - mainly food, service, cleanliness and your stay in general. You have (as far as I can see) marked us down as the main hotel car park was full, you had to walk about 60 metres further...

I stayed here with my partner in February this year for his Birthday. On arrival the hotel looked lovely, it was very big in a beautiful area that was also convenient to local shops. The grounds of the hotel are lovely, there is lots of scenery and you are also able to look over the lake. On arrival we were...

Enjoyed a one night stay with dinner and breakfast. Whilst the weather was dire our stay, room and food made up for it as all was lovely! Staff were friendly and helpful, room was spacious and well appointed (Chanterelle) and food was delicious. Loved the fact that there was real fresh milk for tea & coffee in the room. Will...

Staff is excellent. Food was great. Very accommodating and thoughtful. Attended for a wedding and would have absolutely no hesitation in returning. Top notch room and bath. Here for a wedding with my wife and daughter. Stayed in the Juniper room which is a cottage like two floors with a bedroom upstairs and sitting area below. I am told there...

Lovely meal last weak at fantastic venue. Staff all very friendly and food was great. Been to several large functions in past and standard is just as good. James and Anna have done a fantastic job since taking over in 2012 and I would recommend this hotel highly.
