I stayed here for 2 nights for business. Jack and his fabulous team were very welcoming and hospitable. The rooms are of a generous size and a comfortable bed. Breakfast was a highlight - quality provisions and a rarity in England - a decent espresso. A major bonus for the lovers of real ale is the quality of the beers...

Had lunch here recently which proved to be lovely. Only criticism would be to cut the bread thicker as it fell apart which is not something you want to happen when you are having a sandwich. However, service was great, atmosphere lovely, so would definitely come back for a second visit and try the burger ☺

We stayed here for a three night break at the start of February 2017 to celebrate my 70th with family and friends. What an excellent choice! Lovely comfy bedrooms, modern bathrooms, excellent evening meals, marvellous Sunday Lunch in a private room, cosy open fires in the bars. The Monday was my birthday and the breakfast chef surprised me with croissants,...

Dropped in to this pub last night (20/02/17) due to our normal "go to" pub had catering problems and were so glad we did, great welcome, friendly staff and the food was absolutely first class. Pan fried Trout with polenta chips and belly pork with mash, both cooked to perfection and delicious. Dessert - Lemon and Almond cake which was...

We stopped here on a Sunday lunchtime because it was close to the M4. It's a very smart inn with a mix of locals and families. There were a few families with children and locals with dogs and it was good to see a pub that caters for all. Decent Blacksheep bitter on draught. We had Sunday lunch, my wife...

We stayed here overnight with our little dog and it was excellent. The staff were friendly, the room was excellent, incredibly clean and the food was good, not the best we'd had by any means but it was very nice.Loved the fact that we didn't get a 'doggie room' as we have done in other places, where it is not...

Took the family there earlier. Welcoming and cosy place, good selection of Ales and superb choice of Gins. Various dishes ordered, rib eye steaks, Macaroni, burgers, sea Bass. All lovely, tastefully presented and the Lavender creme brulee was amazing. I sensed a mix of regulars and newcomers in, all in all a very nice meal and friendly establishment. Well worth...

I visited the Pheasant Inn in Hungerford. It is in a pleasant location with very helpful and friendly staff. They have a good selection of drinks. One interesting feature is a game where you have to throw a ring on to a hook in the wall. It is actually quite difficult to do and requires a good aim and concentration....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Bordering the village of Shefford Woodlands, The Pheasant has a hospitality pedigree that stretches back 450 years to when it first sheltered drovers herding livestock from Wales to London. Today, the newly refurbished pub and its eleven en-suite guest rooms offer an adventurous drinks menu, flavoursome modern British cooking, luxurious accommodation with outstanding value - and a warm, relaxed welcome. In January 2016, Jack Greenall became The Pheasant's new landlord and set about launching a new chapter for this well-loved local landmark. A sensitive refurbishment has brought the bar and restaurant a new, relaxed elegance with rich colours, comfortable furnishings and atmospheric lighting. Whether you pull up a vintage leather bar stool, hunker down in our cosy snug with its quirky print gallery and bespoke selection of local and general interest books or join friends at a table in the main dining space, it's a great place to sample our broad and imaginative drinks range and regularly changing menu which showcases the freshest and best local produce and unfussy, flavoursome cooking. Our approach to food is all about bringing together the best ingredients, simply and deliciously. Rooted in classic modern British cooking, our menu showcases the freshest meat, fish, vegetables and fruit and finest artisan products from around the country, while our diverse daily specials let us put local and seasonal ingredients centre stage. And then there's our accommodation, recently added and even more recently refurbished. Our guest bedrooms have all the relaxed, home-from home comfort you'd expect from a country pub, with the minute attention to detail of a smart hotel and a fresh, modern design approach. Elegant fluted armchairs, buttoned ottomans and individually hand-picked artworks are among the characterful features, while bathrooms, two of which have bathtubs as well as high-quality powerful showers, are stocked with indulgent handmade toiletries. All new bookings also include your choice from our full Breakfast Menu. ... more   less
