Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is an excellent property. It's my go-to location when staying in Boston's Back Bay. I want to single out Front Desk staffer Tamace and Bell Staffer Blake. They took good care of me today on what was a cold, sleety early morning. Very professional, and most appreciated.

Nebury opted to cancel my booking at a moments notice leaving us without accomodation. They have bumped us of to house refugees. We cannot find any other accomodation in Mullingar so have had to cancel our planned trip. We will not be reimbursed for our flight tickets leaving us way out of pocket. This is not the first time the Newbury has done this but it will certainly be the last. Absolutely disgraceful

Absolutely disgusting, I got there yesterday at approximately 12-30, I was told my room number ok it wasn't ready so I went off to see friends I returned at 16-30 I said to receptionist my room number to be told its changed ok no problem I was given the key but when I entered the room it was not ready and in a disgusting state, I returned to reception and given the key for original room but this morning 28th March I went for breakfast well see pictures I complained to the woman behind reception to be told the chef is the best chef well I'm a chef for over 35yrs but I was told I had bad attitude well her attitude was terrible and I offered to show pictures but was dismissed and to pay €70 for muck absolutely disappointing the way I was treated, how the hell can a chef burn the egg, the mushrooms were obviously deep fried and greasy disgusting

Response from Newbury Hotel Mullingar, Owner at Newbury Hotel
Responded 30 Mar 2022
This gentleman arrived early around 11.30am to the hotel and was advised that check in was from 14.30 onwards. He presented himself again at the Hotel around 16.30 and the Accommodations Manager immediately formed the opinion that this man was very intoxicated. He was very rude to staff at the Hotel, including myself, and though initially he was given a key to a room that was not yet serviced, he was intercepted on route to this room by a member of staff who asked him to return to reception and to be allocated another room. He accompanied this staff member back to reception to be given a key to another room, however, he was very abusive to this lady and used foul language at the desk. The next morning he was served breakfast and complained that ''nothing was right '' for him. Again, he shouted at me and he was at this stage asked to leave as he was upsetting other guests who were having breakfast, as well as the staff who were on duty.

Pleasant hotel, charming waitress, nice food. Stopped in on the way back to Dublin, got an all day breakfast. Was of a very good standard and the waitress very pleasant and helpful. Would highly recommend and would return next time I'm in Mullingar.

The Newbury Hotel was a fantastic source of accommodation for myself and a few other students attending the local hospital for a few weeks for college placement. I could not commend their warm hospitality enough. The staff (with particular mention to the lovely Lesley) were extremely helpful and friendly, and managed to make the place a home away from home for us. Hope to be back soon, thank you again!

All the staff I met were really friendly & cheerful. A Chinese restaurant on site, that cheerfully delivers to your room ... generous portions. It was covid lock down when I was there - but they provided a lovely continental breakfast. Parking area out the back. Recommend - I'll stay again !

Had a good time here well located Room was clean and comfortable Very good Chinese restaurant on site the breakfast was cooked fresh to order and very tasty My only minor complaint would be that when front door is locked it can take a while for night porter to let you in however this is minor All around good value for money When in the area would definitely book in again

COVID opportunists during the current pandemic climate. Booked the hotel for 31/3/20 during the lockdown to work as a frontline healthcare worker in the area. Hotel was basic and the service abrupt and impolite, however I was happy to have a bed for the night. The rate of €59 was paid in cash as the card machine was broken and an invoice was generated the following day. On enquiring about a reservation for one night on 27/4/20, I was quoted €79/night or if I wished to stay for 3 or more nights the cost reduced to €65/night. I am in disbelief and disappointed that they are incentivising people to stay for longer during a pandemic lockdown and are capitalising on this unfortunate situation. They are clearly not of the “we’re all in this together” attitude. I’m still awaiting a response to my email sent to the hotel regarding the reason why they have increased their prices.

Unfortunately we stayed in this hotel due to a family bereavment ,but cant praise them enough ,firstly family got days mixed up and we had booked sat nite but turns out reposing was sunday.i had booked thro a site that i would be charged for cancelling, when i explained our situ they were very accommodating and waived the cancellation fee, also we arrived earlier than asked as told room would may not be ready but we were on time schedule reception went out of way to give us another room to get ready ,the hotel is a bit dated but staff were so helpful, and the best bed ,/duvet/pillows ever and spotlessly clean ,alas we were so tired we didnt have time for cooked breakfast in mornin but having seen goin out eve before our loss id say, but the best tea and toast ive had anywhere !!! We would come back in a heatbeat ,hard for older hotels to compete with newer builds but its still about the service the friendliness the cleanliness oh and what a sleep !!!! Dont pass it
