My fiance and I spent a night at the Abbey Hotel last month and as much as I was advised beforehand to arrive with an empty stomach, I still was not prepared for how delicious, hearty and comforting the food was. We ate in the award-winning bar restaurant and sat watching fellow guests and locals mill around us for the...

I went to the Abbey hotel on a few different occasions and found it very comfortable and homely. It is very welcoming as you enter the lobby and the old world atmosphere is right up my street. The newspapers are there so you can sit and read while enjoying your coffee and the staff are friendly.I didnt eat there myself so cannot...

I was very disappointed with our trip to the Abbey. Having read that it had (somehow) achieved a 4 star rating my hopes were high. Old musty bedspreads, threadbare towels, uncomfortable mattress, loads of screw holes all over the wall in the bathroom and a very poor breakfast meant that we were quickly disappointed. The venue is seriously run down...

The hotel is very run down and would leave you questioning how a 4 star rating could possibly have been achieved. Old bedding, threadbare towels, screw holes all over the walls in the bathroom, very poor breakfast are just some of the bad points. Such a shame as the exterior of the building is lovely. I wouldn't recommend if you...

Typical Irish country town hotel, dated and beginning to show its need for an uplift, bar food was very good, and Cassandra served great pints of Guinness in the residents bar. The room itself was clean as was the bathroom, very good internet reception on a free code. Plenty of car parking but dodgy enough exiting onto a busy road...
