Very nice spot on the lake, large room, with a bathroom. The staff, JoAnna, was extremely helpful, going above and beyond. Bed was very comfortable, hotel was quiet, JoAnna cooked breakfast for everyone who wanted bacon and eggs, in addition to all of the fruit, rolls, meats/cheeses, and other breakfast items. Good Coffee available when we checked in as well... More

The hotel is located on a side of Myvatn lake. Our room had a wonderful sight on the lake and was wide and very well furnished with a good private bathroom. Everything was comfortable and clean. Good breakfast. The two negative aspects are the lack of a lift and the price.

We love the Hotel Reykjahlid! The staff was wonderful, and the location is great for heading towards the Myvatn Nature Baths, or some of the geological sites in the area. Our room was lovely and comfortable, and very clean. The view was gorgeous, and the breakfast buffet is delicious! Definitely order the eggs and bacon! This was one of our... More

Nice B and B, wright in the Lake, you can see the lake from your little room. The lady the takes care of EVRYTHING IN THE HOTEL is wonderful, multitalented, courteous, smiling always, worry about her guest, such a sweetheart. Hotels (like most of hotels in Iceland) are basic, clean and in general all you need to spend the night... More

Mývatn is an amazing place, with lava fields, a climbable cinder cone, eerie land formations, and a spectacular spa. The Hotel Reykjahlíð, on the north side of the lake, provides the quickest access to all these sites. While the hotel itself is a little spartan in terms of amenities, it's really one of only a couple options in the area.... More

I must say this place is in the middle of no where! When me and my boyfriend travel, we make a most of it! So this is what we have done in Iceland too. We went all around the island, done more then 4000 km, so this is the hotel we have decided to stay for a night. I must... More

I was cruising tripadvisor the night before we were headed to Myvatn and was terrified by the recent post saying the hotel would have been closed by then so I called the sister property that night. They asked me how I knew they were closing, sounded a bit mad that I knew, then assured us that we would have a... More

Brilliant location on the shore of Lake Myvatn, surrounded by many of the best nearby attractions. Breakfast is good if nothing special and I would stay here again. Room is basic but does the job for a short stay.

By the time of this review, I understand that this hotel will close but has been bought by Icelandair Hotels. Hopefully, it will be remodeled or rebuilt as it certainly needs a new life! Why it received a #1 rating on Tripadvisor, I will never understand and why be given a Tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence for 2015? Shabby outside, junk... More

We got a room at Hótel Reykjahlíð late at night after driving with our three children for several hours and too tired to pitch the tent another night in the cold, late August weather. The location of the hotel is lovely and even though the hotel itself is a little worn, it was very clean and charming. The attendant on... More
